Wohoo, you burned them in the 4th. Actually Sonics without Allen are just a weak opponent. I a game in my Hawks Dynasty I have no recapped before the end, he put up 54 points against me, just like he did in real life not long ago.
This time, Sonics, no chance :)

Kobe poured in 22 points in the last quarter, his team-mates added only 12, that wasn’t enough to stop Suns…

Box Scores
Lakers-104
Suns-110

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered their first loss since winning in Seattle. Lakers remain as 6th in the western conference and 2nd in pacific division.
The Nash-less Suns didn’t go far from Lakers in the first half by gaining a 2 point lead after it.
Lakers were struggling at the beginning of the third period, kept scoreless in the first 2,5 minutes and woke up with a 15 point deficit. Suns didn’t slowed, they continued to build their lead and were ahead by 17 in the middle of the quarter. They were hard to stop, and it was hard to score against them. They posted 6 steals and 4 blocks in the third period. But Lamar managed to post 7 points in the last two minutes and downed the lead to 12.
Lakers woke up in the fourth quarter, mostly by Kobe Bryant. He scored 12 points in the first 3 minutes and Lakers were only 4 points away at the middle of the quarter, but when the main players of the Suns cameback, it wasn’t so easy. Suns offense was hard to stop, but Kobe’s effort was very big in offense and he managed to hold his team.Lakers entered the last minute with a 7 point deficit and after Kobe’s trey it was down to 4, but Marion’s dunk raised it up to 6 and Lakers couldn’t do anything more.

Who will be the rookie of the year?

This is the third part of our awards breakdown and this time we have the rookie of the year nominees…

Adam Morrison
Image

What a spectacular season for this young gun. He’s the leading scorer for his team(Charlotte Bobcats), putting up over 16 points per game, also second in assists in his team, putting up 4.4 APG. He had some explosive 30+ point performance and an unbelievable 40+ point career-night. Though his team has struggled throughout the season, they’re 25th in the league with a 27-51 record. The lost all chances to make the playoffs and now trying to end the season by making the record look more comfortable.
Stats
Points per game: 16.6
Rebounds per game: 4.2
Assists per game: 4.4
Steals per game: 1.14
Blocks per game: 0.45

Rudy Gay
Image

The explosive Grizzlie has been on fire lately, made two 20+ point performances in a row and his team is hot too. They’re 7th in the west, 2 wins behind the Lakers. Gay is 3rd in rebounds in his team with 6 per game. He led his team to some big wins this season and his team should enter the playoffs ready to fight and maybe make the next round.
Stats
Points per game: 10.2
Rebounds per game: 6.0
Assists per game: 2.8
Steals per game: 0.93
Blocks per game: 0.98

Tyrus Thomas
Image

Tyrus Thomas originally was drafted by Chicago Bulls, played 6 games there and then was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Had a really tough start, averaging 2 minutes while being a Bull, and averaging 28 minutes while being a Laker. He woke up in the middle of the season and quickly became one of the most explosive players in the team. His defensive numbers gave him some confidence and after his successful offensive performance he was named the rookie of the March.
Stats
Points per game: 9.8
Rebounds per game: 5.6
Assists per game: 2.1
Steals per game: 0.73
Blocks per game: 0.91

Morrisons my pick, too. I´d have loved to see Thomas winning it, but Morrison is just better.
Ah, and tough loss against the Nash-less Suns. Maybe you forced it too much with Kobe and did not keep your role player enough involved. Usually when you manage to keep them in the game they hit open jumpers more often.
Good luck in your next games !

This Kobe’s shot with 1.9 seconds left was counted for two points…

Box Scores
Lakers-112
Nuggets-113

The Los Angeles Lakers lost to Denver Nuggets. Nuggets are already eliminated from the playoffs, while Lakers remain 6th in the western conference and 2nd in pacific division.
The first quarter ended 30 to 30, but Nuggets took advantage in the second by gaining a 2 point lead at the end of the first half.
Kobe Bryant started the third period hot by knocking in a trey and later slamming a thunderous dunk. Lakers took the lead and with the help of Tyrus Thomas held it till the last minute, but then Allen Iverson’s quick four points gave it back to Denver. Though Kobe managed to make a buzzer-beating mid-range shot for the tie at the end of the quarter.
Lakers played great basketball at the beginning of the quarter. Achieved a 7-0 to takeover the lead. Also kept Nuggets quite for 1 and a half minutes. But Denver wasn’t sleeping long. With the help from Carmelo Anthony they were able to achieve a comeback and takeover the lead with 3 minutes to go. Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown were controlling the rebounding in the last period, not like in the first half, when they gave away 12 offensive rebounds. Kobe Bryant and Smush Parker were able to keep their team in the game and Lakers had a 2 point deficit entering the last minute. Marcus Camby then made only one of two ft’s and Denver was holding a 3 point lead. Lakers missed the next shot, Denver did the same and Lakers had 12 seconds to attack.. Kobe had the ball and started burning the seconds. Just with 2.4 seconds remaining he shot the ball from the three-point line(that’s what we thought), he made it, but the referee counted it for two. Nuggets had 1.9 seconds left with a 1 point lead, Lakers couldn’t force a foul and had to suffer another loss.
Kobe finished with 36 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists, Odom collected a double-double, with 18 points and 13 rebounds, Thomas posted 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, Parker added 12 points, 8 assists. Denver was led by Allen Iverson, 27 points, 3 assists. Melo posted 22 points and 7 rebounds, Camby added 15 points, 7 rebounds 3 steals and blocks.

ALLEN IVERSON

Ahhh, damn ref. That is tough since you hit this one which doesnt happen everytime (Ok, more often with Mamba ;) )

Well since it looks like you will stay 6th anyway for the rest of the season (except you loose every game?) this loss is not too hard.

Good luck in your next one.

Fuck the referee! I know they sometimes count 2 points for a 3 pointer.

Be ready for the next game and prepare for the playoffs, try to use a bit different lineups or sth...

Yeah, the "new" three point line pisses me off, but not as much not being able to take a charge outside the paint, I swear if you are outside the paint, the can just run through you without drawing a foul either way, and some times when going for a layup and they hand check you... and it's never called except seemingly when my star players are in foul trouble, and on them. I feel your pain.

Marquis, Yeah I wanted to try out Walton and Bynum in the starting lineups...

JohnA20, Oh man, It happened so quickly. One time I was shouting of happiness that I made the shot for the tie, then I looked at the scoreboard and I wanted to kill the referee with my gamepad...

Thanks for the comments guys...

Box Scores
Lakers-117
Clippers-122

The Los Angeles Lakers suffer their third loss in a row as they lose to Los Angeles Clippers. Lakers remain 6th in the western conference and 2nd in pacific division, but are only a win away from Memphis Grizzlies.
Lakers started off strongly by gaining a 7 point after the first twelve minutes, but Clippers were better in the second quarter. They outscored Lakers by 8 points for a one point lead.
Cutino Mobley led his team in the third quarter, scoring 15 points. Lamar was the key guy for L.A. in the third period, he chipped in 12 points and helped Lakers to takeover the lead at the end of the quarter, but it wasn’t easy. Kobe collected his 4th foul in the middle of the quarter and was forced to sit down. Also Tyrus Thomas got injured at the middle of the quarter, but cameback later in the 4th. Odom got lots of help from Smush Parker, he poured in 9 points in the third quarter, Bynum added 6. Lakers took the lead with seconds left in the quarter and Clippers had a chance for an open trey, but missed it and ended the quarter loosing by 1.
Clippers were unbelievable in the fourth quarter. Sam Cassell, Elton Brand, Corey Maggette were the players that were leading the team to the win. They got many ft attempts and took over the lead in the middle of the quarter. Kobe was putting up numbers, but that wasn’t helping, Lamar was doing it all, but that wasn’t helping too. Only with 3 minutes to go in the quarter, Kobe was able to down the deficit to 5. Tyrus Thomas’s dunk downed it to 3, but then Sam Cassell poured in two fade-away treys and got the lead up to 9. Lakers downed it to 4 again, but Maggette repeated, what Cassell did earlier. Somehow Lakers managed to down the lead to 3 with 19 seconds to go, but Sam Cassell sunk his opponents with successful ft attempts.
Cutino Mobley posted a game-high 33 points, Cassell added 27 points and 10 assists, Maggette contributed with 22 points, Brand finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Lakers were led by Lamar, he posted 31 points and 17 boards, Kobe finished with 26 points and 9 assists, Parker added 20 points, 4 steals, Thomas posted 16 points 3 steals and a couple of blocks.

Good shot of the Elton Brand dunk, going 1 v. 3

Nowadays high scores in the 100's are no longer being called unreasonable cause the NBA's average has soared due to the Suns, Wizards, and couple other teams.

Well, you had very many assists, you shot well from everywhere, it seems you had some nice defensiv stopps, so why da hell did you loose ?!

Maybe Cut was too much for Kobe (?)

Or did he just shoot threes from all over the court which fell in wether uncontested or not ?

Hope the Grizzs wont get you.

Who will be the defensive player of the year?

The fourth part of our awards breakdown, this time we go to the defensive player of the year nominees…

Ben Wallace
Image

The four-time defensive player of the year has been putting up career numbers in steals(2.18). He’s 2nd in steals per game and 3rd in blocks per game in the NBA. But looking at his last year’s numbers makes us wanna smile and say he should do it easily this year if he won it last year. Bulls are 3rd in the eastern conference with a 50-29 record and want to make the conference finals this year. If Wallace wins it this year he will be the only player in NBA history to have 5 of these trophies and first one to have them in 6 years.
Stats
Points per game: 8.6
Rebounds per game: 11.5
Assists per game: 1.3
Steals per game: 2.18
Blocks per game: 2.37

Shawn Marion
Image

The “Matrix” has played lower on offense. His numbers fell down much, his stealing(1.88) also fell down a little. Though his blocks have been a surprise this year, he’s averaging 2 blocks per game for the first time in his career. Suns are hot also, doesn’t matter with or without Nash. They’re 3rd in the west with a 54-24 record and probably will be facing the L.A. Lakers.BTW, he’s the leader in BPG in NBA.
Stats
Points per game: 13.4
Rebounds per game: 9.4
Assists per game: 1.9
Steals per game: 1.88
Blocks per game: 2.49(1st in NBA)

Dwight Howard
Image

The young Magician has been really solid this year. For the first time in his career his averaging a steal and two blocks per game. He’s second in blocks per game in the NBA. Looking at his defensive numbers reminds Shawn Marion, but his rebounds are way higher. Magic’s doing not bad at all, they’re 7th in the eastern conference with a 36-42 record.
Stats
Points per game: 17.6
Rebounds per game: 12.2
Assists per game: 1.1
Steals per game: 1.64
Blocks per game: 2.47

Other runners

Andrei Kirilenko, Kevin Garnett, Ron Artest, Rasheed Wallace, Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson.

Well tough losses on all these games, specially against Denver...

Hope Memphis won't catch your place, try hard to keep it!

I think Morrisson will be ROY, but it's harder to say for the defensive player, they all seem to be very good and to have almost the same level... I personnaly prefer Shawn Marion.

Mamba’s buzzer-beating revenge…

Box Scores
Lakers-111
Suns-109

The Los Angeles Lakers celebrate their first after loosing three in a row. Lakers remain 6th in the western conference and 2nd in pacific division.
Lakers held a 1 point lead after the close first quarter, but Suns were better in the second. They eliminated Lakers’ lead and ended the quarter leading by 5.
Lamar Odom got his 4th foul and was forced to sit down at the beginning of the third quarter, then Kobe was injured and had to leave, but him cameback at the fourth quarter. Suns were doing all to make a blow-out, but Luke Walton and Andrew Bynum(both started the game) held their team. They combined 22 points and 9 rebounds in the third quarter. Suns managed to make it a 10 point lead at the end of the third quarter.
Mamba cameback just in time, along with other guys, they were doing it all for the win. They downed the deficit to 4 in the middle of the quarter, but Nash made a couple of treys when he cameback to the court and Lakers had to do it all from the beginning. It almost looked that they are going to loose. Entering the last minute Lakers were loosing by 6, but Kobe then scored two points, stole the ball and chipped in two more points. Suns were leading by 2 with 40 seconds to go. Lakers were fouled second later and managed to make only one free-throw. With 7 seconds to go Steve Nash was fouled. He made the first ft for the tie… BUT MISSED THE SECOND! Lakers grabbed the rebound and quickly called a timeout. Then they gave it to Mamba who killed them just like last year in game 4 of the first round playoffs.
