THE GAME: INDIANA PACERS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

ImageImage

The Warriors remain in the East, and are now facing the Indiana Pacers in the always rowdy Conseco Fieldhouse… The visitors went into this game with more heart, passion and poise, and managed to outscore their opposition in the first quarter, 25-31. Golden State productive offense during that stretch was led by Troy Murphy, scoring 11 points and grabbing 5 boards in 10 minutes, all the while Jeff Foster was trying his best to keep the Pacers within striking distance. The second quarter was pretty much the same, with offenses ruling over half-hearted defensive efforts, and a lot of scoring by both teams, in the paint and from the perimeter. Baron Davis was scoring and passing as usual, leading his team to a 52-60 half time lead. The always a teenager Reggie Miller had the reigns on offense for the home side, closing the half with an impressive 17 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. The third quarter was all about the Warriors, who managed to play some effective defense for a change, limiting Miller’s touches and allowing only Jermaine O’Neal to score for a stretch longer than 5 minutes. Luke Walton was providing his usual streaky spark with consecutive points, Davis scored from all over to reach 19 points, while the late efforts by O’Neal, Tinsley and Stephen Jackson were not enough to keep the game close, as the quarter ended 71 – 88 for Golden State. In the fourth and final period, the visitors had no real trouble maintaining a safe cushion, which allowed them to throw in their reserves near the end. Murphy and Walton led the scoring near the end, and helped the Warriors win this game easily, 99 – 113.

Indeed... Murph is getting quite the number of open looks for his favorite 18 footers, thanks to BD kicking the ball out just in time. They're a good 1-4 tandem. (Y)

Sorry for not checking in awhile, but I haven't been able to update my own dynasty either  You have still been playing pretty well as of late and that big game vs the Pistons was amazing, too bad you couldn't come out on top though.

Baron Davis is the leader of the team, and the one who tranformed it coming in after a poor 12 - 18 start. So props to him... (Y)

THE GAME: ATLANTA HAWKS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

ImageImage

The road trip continues with a visit to Phillips Arena and the lowly, once again, Hawks. Atlanta went into the game strong at first, grabbing loose balls on the ground and in the air, playing sharp defense on Davis and Richardson, and having the tandem of Josh Childress and Al Harrington providing all the spark they needed on offense. Early in the 1st quarter, Baron Davis hurt his right index finger during a block attempt and had to step to the bench, never to return in this game due to excruciating pain. J.R. Bremer filled in nicely for him, though, and helped the Warriors close the gap to 1, with a score of 26-25 to end the period. The second quarter saw the Warriors rally and take the lead, playing good defense and using Darko Milicic and Jason Kapono to make the difference on the offensive end of the ball. Kapono, in particular, was bombing away from all over, finishing the half with 13 points, all the while Tony Delk’s efforts were not enough to prevent a 40 – 47 halftime scoreline. The second half was all about Golden State, who surprisingly played better without BD on the court, for the first time since mid-December. J-Kapp was still notching point after point, Darko was grabbing the boards like crazy, with a little help from Stro Swift inside the paint. The Warriors carried a 12 point lead with them into the fourth, and had no problem keeping their opponents in check, still led by Swift, Darko and Kapono. In the end, the Warriors had no problem defeating the Hawks, 77 – 92.

POG: JASON KAPONO 27pts – 6/11 3pts – 3ast

Trying to make a layup but got bumped in th eprocess and lost teh ball... either that, or he's waving to his wife in the stands. Doug Christie no. 2!!!

Kapono was pretty solid off the bench, well more than solid

he was not solid, he was 'heavy metal'. J-Kapp is streaky, but if his shot is falling, watchout!!! He is this season's Kyle Korver in my dynasty's alternate universe... (Y) Plus he's clutch as hell. 8-)

Sorry, I meant the spurs.

That can only be good for the warriors, after 10 years out of the post-season... (Y) 8-)

EDIT: Baron Davis has just been diagnosed with a broken right index finger, and will unfortunately be out of contention for the next 10 days or so, meaning he will definitely miss upcoming games against Houston, Phoenix, and Sacramento twice. An important stretch of games against Western contenders those matchups are, and Warriors' fans ( both of them  ) hope that the team can be succesful even without its court leader.
