Go to the patch request sections, and bring with you a nice straight up picture of yourself, mouth closed, suggest a headshape and ask someone to make you your CF...

Wed Jun 15, 2005 10:59 pm

definitely mouth closed or no one will make it for you as a lot of the patchers don't want to look bad by making a face that might not turn out well....

Oh ok well thanks (Y) (Y) (damn i feel so n00bish)

THE ‘RISING STARS’ SLAM DUNK COMPETITION:

Image

Once again here in Denver , Colorado, and this time it’s going to be a big one. The most exciting event of the Weekend is about to take place in a few minutes, the Slam Dunk contest…

This year features 4 diverse styles of players, all of which blessed with exceptional athleticism and a wide variety and arsenal of high-flying dinking maneuvers…

Meet the 05 Slam Dunk competitors:

-FROM THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS, JASON RICHARDSON.
Image

-FROM THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS, DESMOND MASON.

-FROM THE UTAH JAZZ, ANDREI KIRILENKO
Image

-FROM THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS, RODNEY WHITE.
White came in as a sub in the last minute , replacing LeBron James who hurt his pinky toe and will not be competing….

1st Round:

The first round was one of the most exciting ones of the last decade, if not of all time…. All the guys came ion strutting their best stuff from the very beginning, with no ‘safe’ dunks, just going all out for that coveted 50.

1st attempt:

-Jason Richardson started off with a dunk from just within the free throw lane, but elevated so high that he actually hang himself from the armpit afterwards. 50

-Derrick Mason followed with an excellent reverse windmill, and got a 49 from the judges… He seemed a little disappointed with that score afterwards…

-Andrei Kirilenko, the dark horse of the contest, made an exciting 360 jumping all the way from the free throw line… Looks like (Russian) white men can indeed jump… 50

-Rodney White came out fearless and put down a monster 360 slam, nearly tearing down the rim and exciting the crowd in the process. 50, again.

2nd attempt:

-Jason Richardson made the dunk of the year, sending an alley oop to himself off the jumbotron, if you can believing, timing himself perfectly catching it mid-air and putting it down with authority. 50 for that one.

-Desmond Mason tried to even things up and slammed home a tomahawk dunk jumping from just outside the FT line, and got a 49 again… Again he looked frustrated…

-Andrei Kirilenko was next, and his fantastic reverse 2-handed jam was so impressive and powerful that the crowd actually started to chant his name afterwards. Another 50.

-Rodney White had to get a 50 to tie things up with J-Rich and AK47, and the pressure seemed to get the better of him, as his one handed jam from afar was only awarded a 45…

Here are the standings after round one:

Image

Round 2:

1st attempt:

-Richardson opened up round two with a magnificent 360 between the legs, jumping from near the sideline… Impressive, crowd on their feet again and another 50 for him.
Image

-Kirilenko, having his name chanted throughout, went for a similar 360 between the legs, this time jumping all the way from the free throw line. 50

2nd attempt:

-J-Rich tried for an alley oop off the backboard and reverse windmill jam, making it but somehow the judges were not impressed enough to hand him the 50. 49 the score for that attempt.

-AK-47 needed a 50 to win it… He placed himself just outside the three point lane, threw the bal off the shot clock above the board, caught it with impressive timing mid-air and put down a breathtakingly powerful reverse between the legs, to rightfully get a 50 and take home the crown, surprising all media pundits who had all but handed Richardson the award beforehand…

THE MAIN EVENT: ALL-STAR GAME

Image

Welcome once again to the Pepsi Center, home of the Denver Nuggets and host of this year’s All Star Weekend festivities. It’s about time for th epremier event of te weekend, the All-Star Game, featuring the game’s greatest ambassadors, as voted by the fans and the coaches…

The two squads seem pretty even at first, what with Shaquille O’Neal’s move to the Eastern Conference having balanced things a bit , especially regarding big men… He will now have to directly face up against Chinese sensasion and voters’ favorite, Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets. Pau Gasol will also play in his first ASG, persuading the voters to make him a sterter replacing the established Kevin Garnett. Another newcomer will be Nets’ wing forward and dunkman extraordinaire, Richard Jefferson, who has teamed up well with Jason Kidd and Vince Carter leading the Nets to another title run… Here are the starters for tonight’s game:

Image

The Golden State Warriors will be represented in the All-Star Game by recently acquired via trade from New Orleans, Baron Davis. Baron has completely turnes around the fates of the Oakland franchise ever since his arrival two months ago, and rumors have it that he is seriously being considered for the MVP award if he and the team continue on the course they are now…

Image

The game itself started with the West being mostly in charge, led by the fascinating play of both Baron Davis and Pau Gasol. Who formed a sensational tandem that provided the fans with a couple of amazing alley oop finishes by the Spaniard, both courtesy of BD’s lobs… Webber was taking it serious and scored 6 points in the first quarter posting up Pau, but it was Tracy McGrady’s offensive outburst with3 consecutive three pointers that gave the west a clear lead, 35-28.

ImageImage

In the second quarter, J-Kidd pulled his gun and started firing both threes and no-look passes to various receivers, resulting in cutting down the deficit and making it a toe-to-toe contest up until the end of the half. From then on, it was an Old West pistolero battle between Kevin Garnett for the West and LeBron James for the East. KG was dunking on the fast break, making behing the back passes, grabbing offensive boards for putbacks and blocking at least 4 shots during that time. On the other hand, LBJ, was manning the point for the Eastern All-Stars, with some amazing passes and reverse jams that had the Colorado crowd on their feet for more than 3 consecutive minutes… The half ended 65-65…

ImageImage

The second half started with Shaq seemingly frustrated by his sub-par appearance in the first, and proceeding to consecutively throw dunks in Yao’s face to rile up tha fans and add 11 points to his tally. The West fought back the minute The Diesel went to the bench, with Baron Davis racking up the assists and Tracy McGrady having a one-man scoring show againt the lax defense of the Eastern All-Stars… Steve Nssh would diss the ball brilliantly later on, replacing BD, while Jason Kidd continued to fight for the win, even in a meaningless game, having 19 points by the end of the quarter…

ImageImage

In the fourth and final period, Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady had no problem scoring against their opposition, with Baron Davis continuing on with his crowd pleasing pass first attitude, resulting in some spectacular plays, including two amazing alley-oop dunks by Kenyon Martin… Shaq was on the offensive later in the quarter, but his 21 points and 15 rebounds were not enough to rally his teammates on for a charge at victory. The West won this game at home in the end, 132-125

ImageImage

With an impressive performance and a leading role, Kevin Garnett’s 24 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks were enough for the Minnesota star to be awarded the All-Star Game MVP award… Congratulations…

He was close, real close.... so was Baron Davis with 11 points and 16 assists... looks like the commmitte gave it to the West's leader, though...

LOL at the expression on KG's face. He looks really stoked to have won MVP again.

He must be getting really bored getting that award... He's already won it twice in the NY dynasty... 3/3 and counting...

AK-47 wtf dunk contest winner

Garnett does look like a "i dont give a shit" type player :? :? :? :| :|

Wed Jun 22, 2005 11:00 pm

J-Rich was snubbed from the all-star game! ARGGG!!! I would have liked to see Richardson in there, but if he didn't make it to the dunk competition, I would have torn my hair out. And how the hell did Kirilenko beat Richardson? I don't think that is humanly possible. :|

Wed Jun 22, 2005 11:19 pm

KG looks high  He did have the better numbers so I wouldn't say anyone got snubbed with the award. I'm glad to see that T-mac had a good game too, if only his rebs and asts would've been up, he would've had the oppurtunity of winning. Nice update (Y)

AK-47 wtf dunk contest winner

As I said, Mama Russia will be proud... (Y)

Garnett does look like a "i dont give a shit" type player

When he wins 3/3 awards in my dynasties, he comes to expect it so he doesn't bat an eyelid...

-Rich was snubbed from the all-star game! ARGGG!!!

It's because I play all the games, and while J-Rich scoring is around 21-22 ppg, him being a guard and given the tendencies of guardd' posittioning in NBA Live, I don't get the chance to rebound a lot with him, so he's averaging like 3.2 rpg and 3.1 apg... Those numbers are not enough to get him an All-Star berth...

And how the hell did Kirilenko beat Richardson? I don't think that is humanly possible.

Well, it is possible, it would just require shoes with springs or a well-concealed trampoline...

KG looks high

Maybe it's the Sheed's Warehouse after-effect...

He did have the better numbers so I wouldn't say anyone got snubbed with the award. I'm glad to see that T-mac had a good game too, if only his rebs and asts would've been up, he would've had the oppurtunity of winning. Nice update

Yes, as I said, he was the team's leader and was scoring his points only when it mattered the most, hence the M V(aluable) P award... T-Mac came close, although he did score in streaks...

Thu Jun 23, 2005 7:18 pm

sorry I haven't posted in here, but I've been a bit over the whole ASW for ages now....same old, same old after all....

looking forward to you getting back into regular season and moving onto the playoffs

Thu Jun 23, 2005 9:36 pm

looking forward to you getting back into regular season and moving onto the playoffs

Who said anything about guaranteed playoffs? maybe BD busts a kneecap and sends up packing... We'll just have to wait and see...

THE GAME:GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. ATLANTA HAWKS

ImageImage

The first game after the All Star break saw the struggling and lottery bound Hawks make a visit to the Oakland Arena, to face the surging and psyched up Warriors. It seemed lopsided on a preview, but turned out to be pretty close and a regular nail-biter towards the end. Jason Richardson’s scoring and Baron Davis’ passing once again formed an inspiring backcourt duo, aided by Murphy’s rebounding and occasional made jumpers. The Hawks would stay in touch mainly due to Al Harrington and Josh Smith, whose athleticism helped them dominate the boards and the fast break opportunities. The half time score was 47 – 42. In the second half, more of the same, as the shooting battle between Richardson and Tony Delk commenced and lasted throughout the third quarter, resulting in a flurry of points by both sides. In the final period of the contest, the real difference maker was Stromile Swift and his 6 offensive rebounds in 10 minutes, that helped break up Atlanta’s momentum and steal away many of their possessions. In the end, Golden State managed to win this difficult encounter, 95 – 91.

Despite it not being a very high-scoring affair, there was an abundance of fancy dunks in the game…

FEBRUARY 24, 2005 (TRADE DEADLINE)

-In a last minute move, the Golden State Warriors pulled out a coup and traded for former no 2 overall pick , Darko Milicic of the Detroit Pistons. Darko recently had a bout with coach Larry Brown in training, with Brown being quoted afterwards saying: “This is ridiculous. It’s either me or him now…” . It took the Warriors little time to work up a trade, and acquire the Serbian PF/C for the pittance exchange of Jake Tsakalidis, Troy Bell and Lamond Murray

The Warriors also signed two perennial free agents to complete their 15-man roster: PG/SG Bryce Drew and SG/SF Eddie Robinson.

THE GAME:GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. DETROIT PISTONS

Image Image

The Defending NBA champions were up next, hoping to derail the unstoppable Golden State freight train from its track and continue on their course to win the Central Division and the Eastern Conference from the currently on-top Indiana Pacers. Hoping and achieving are two totally different things, though, and the Pistons learned that lesson the hard way. Using their own weapons against them, namely strangling defense and altruism on offense, the Warriors managed to corner their opposition on the ropes and hammer them non-stop. With Jason Richardson dropping every shot in the beginning, Baron Davis keeping the game on a low tempo and Troy Murphy being his usual all-round big man self, Golden State found themselves leading at the half with 50-41, and they even had a 15 point lead a few minutes before. In the second half, the onslaught continued, with Detroit unable to find any semblance of a rhythm on offense, with Rip Hamilton and Chauncey Billups laying bricks all over the basket. The deficit was constantly growing, and with a 25-point gap between the two teams in the 4th, the rest was just garbage time, so Darko Milicic took the floor and played really well against his team of 2 days ago. The Warriors defeat the Pistons convincingly, 91 – 74.
