Decent trade I guess. I never liked Dunleavy anyway...

And Damn at J-Rich dropping 56.

Well, I do like MDJ in real life, it's just that he was so damn inconsistent in this dynasty...

J-Rich took 47 shots in the New Orleans game... Kobe must have felt jealous... but as it turns out, team play was absent, and that's why we lost...

j-rich was made into a ball hog by you...such surprise heheheh

Not really, it was just that everytime I controlled him, I had a feeling I would score... Jusging from that 23/47 stat, I was wrong half the time...

nice, solid trade there....you'll be able to add a solid PF, SF or PG with that pick....

In any other circumstance I'd get a lottery pick, but in this dynasty the Clips are doing real good in will probably make the playoffs this year... So I'm expecting a 20 - 22 pick. Not bad, but not great either...

Nice trade there. Kaman is really solid he will help you a lot.

Yes, CK is good in Live, and I needed a true big Center, after shipping Divac and Campbell to Memphis... (Y)

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. PHOENIX SUNS

ImageImage

Golden State’s Pacific Division rivals visited the Oakland Arena and really made it difficult for the home team to catch a breath, constantly running up and down the floor, with Steve Nash running rampant on the fast break and passing to Stoudemire and Marion for some extraordinarily athletic , above-the-rim finishes. The Warriors’ defense was inadequate , to say the least, in the first 36 minutes, while in the offensive end it was once more up to Baron Davis to carry the load and try to keep the game close. Murphy helped close out the gap at the end of the third, and then it was time for another one of the usual late 4th quarter charges for Golden State. With Luke Walton scoring and leading the second unit, Davis picking pockets left and right, Murphy scoring non-stop and J-rich keeping the fans on their heels with some flash moves, the Warriors managed to turn the game around and finally clinch it, 110 – 105.

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. DALLAS MAVERICKS

ImageImage

Dallas came to visit Oakland being one of the top 4 teams in the league record-wise, and put up quite a fight against the in-form and streaking Warriors. With Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry doing their respective jobs on offense, and Troy Murphy along with Chris Kaman dominating the paint on the other side, it was a pretty even contest in the first half, with neither team being able to shake the opposition loose. In the second half, Baron Davis turned on the afterburner once more, followed suit by Nowitzki, who could just not be stopped every time he received the ball in the low post. This had all the markings of an eventual high-scoring game, and that’s exactly what it turned out to be. Toe-to-toe the two teams fought up until the end, with their eventual separation coming late in the 4th, courtesy of some Baron Davis’ steals and subsequent fast break points. The Warriors win the game 108 – 103 and establish themselves as the hottest team in the league during the past month.

POG: BARON DAVIS 28pts – 10ast – 5stl – 3rebs – 12/22 FGs

GAME OF THE DAY:

MINNESOTA 87 - NEW JERSEY 94 (Vince Carter 32pts – 9ast – 7rebs – 3stl)

Coming Up: Final game prior to the All-Star break, against the Sonics in Seattle…

31-21....you're really streaking into the All-Star break now....hopefully for you, you don't stumble out of the All-Star break like I did in my 'Cats dynasty :(

Wed Jun 08, 2005 11:17 am

Well after catching up, I see that you are playing real good basketball. I have to agree with X that you are rolling into the All-Star Break :P Nice job picking up Kaman too, I think that was a very realistic deal and now Dunleavy gets to play for his dad in LA. I really like that trade. I see he dominated off the bench with a double-double in the 2nd game you played with him.

The league is pretty tight as well, because there is no other team way ahead of us at the moment other than the Spurs... So if this continues, we might grab a top 4 seed in the West, especially if I clinch the Pacific Title...

THE GAME: SEATTLE SUPERSONICS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

ImageImage

In the last game prior to the All-Star break, Golden State visited the NorthWest to play in the Key Arena against the Sonics, who are 5 games below .500 but still in the race for the NorthWest division title. Rashad Lewis led the home team in scoring early on, and with some fine performances by Flip Murray and Antonio Daniels in guard, the Sonics went ahead early. With Baron Davis and Jason Richardson struggling to find any semblance of a rhuthm in their offensive games, and some awful defense being played against Seattle’s perimeter players, the hlf ended with an embarrassing 59 – 41 against the Warriors. In the second half, Davis woke up from slumber and with the aid of Troy Murphy and Stromile Swift, the deficit was cut down to 6 by the end of the third. That was as far as the comeback would go, though, with Jason Richardson shooting an abysmal 6/28 from the field (3 /16 three pointers !!! ), and with Antonio Daniels finishing with 20 points. The Supersonics take this game 96 – 86.

POG: ANTONIO DANIELS 20pts – 6ast – 3stls

Realism has taken a back step in favor of interest, it seems...

nah, just joking, I'm playing the same way I was before the Davis trade, it's just that BD is so good that everyrhing I try works... (Y)

ALL-STAR WEEKEND: ROOKIE – SOPHOMORE GAME:

Image

Welcome to Denver , Colorado, where the premiere event of the NBA season is about to take place during the next three days. It all starts today, Friday, with the Got Milk? Rookie – Sophomore game featuring some of the NBA’s greatest young talents and possibly franchise players of the future.

This years matchup seems rather lopsided, with the Sophomores featuring a squad including megastars-to-be LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Kirk Hinrich, not to mention hopefuls Luke Ridnour, Chris Kaman, Josh Childress and Udonis Haslem. On the other side, the rookies field a young but enthusiastic team, featuring Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Dwight Howard, Nenad Krstic, Josh Smith , Shaun Livingston, Jameer Nelson and Andre Iguodala. Needless to say, the Sophs are considered heavy favorites to rout the rookies.

ImageImage

The Golden State Warriors will be represented in this event by newly acquired Center Chris Kaman, who has only been with the team for a short while but has shown that he is capable of holding a starter’s position and being near or over double-double figured every night.

The game itself was truly a marvel of high flying dunks, alley oops, fast tempo and exciting basketball altogether. Despite popular predictions, the Rookies went into the match seemingly having something to prove, and proceeded to demolish the Sophomores throughout the first quarter. Luol Deng started strong scoring the first 7 points of his team, and Dwight Howard picked up the mantle on offense soon after, with 10 points of his own, to close the first period 32-16 for the Rookies.

Image
Iguodala and the rest of the rookies showed their hops with some amazing first quarter dunk displays…

The Sophomores seemed to gradually snap out of it and getting a bit more serious, as nobody wanted to lose big, even if victory held no importance in this game. LBJ started demanding the ball more and more often on offense, racking up some nice treys and drives for 16 points in 10 minutes, all the while Dwyane Wade’s no look passes on the fast break had the crowd on their feet, and Chris Kaman was doing all the dirty work and grabbing the boards. Same story in the third quarter, with LeBron playing with such passion and intensity as if this was game 7 of a playoff series, and not just a flashy razzmatazz type of game that it was. Wade and Anthony seconded him on offense, but Dwight Howard was battling on his own and managed to barelt keep the rookies ahead going into the 4th, 90-86.

Image
Melo helped close down the gap between the two teams, playing second fiddle to LeBron’s excellence…

In the fourth and final period of the contest, it all went down to the wire and, near the end, the pressure was on for all these youngsters who really took it seriously and fought for victory. Howard kept on taking it to the basket for the Rooks, and James was his usual unstoppable self for the Sophomores, having great help from tireless worker Chris Kaman who not only rebounded, but scored some putbacks and alley oops to boot. In the end, the Rookies managed to pull off the upset and barely edge out the over talented Sophomores, with a score line of 127 – 124.

Image
Ben Gordon flashed his jumping and dunking ability and helped his team to the win…

Despite LeBron overwhelming and passionate display with the amazing stat line of 39pts – 11rebs – 5ast – 2blk, the game’s MVP award was handed out to the best player of the winning team…

ROOKIE – SOPHOMORE GAME MVP: DWIGHT HOWARD 26pts – 9rebs – 3blk – 4ast

Image

After the game, straight out of high school and number one pick in the 04 draft Dwight Howard was jubilant for both the win and his award: “I can’t say enough man, I never thought I’d have so much fun playing in the rookie game… it was tight … and nobody wanted to lose, y’ know? People didn’t think we could win going up against LeBron, ‘Melo and Wade, but we pulled it off and all the guys are feelin’ good about it. The MVP award? Sure, I’m happy… I mean this is my first season, I’m 19 years old and people voted me as the best player tonight… it’s really cool… hope I get more of these babies in the future

Yes, big game, lots of running and gunning, little to no defense... Just what the fans came to see... and the guys delivered...

Looks like they had to prove the sophomores id not deserve to get ALL the hype...
As for the Air Gordon pic, as I said, what do you expect, there was no defense in this game whatsoever...

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:37 am

Howard got MVP, but he didn't even start did he?

Indeed, the CPU picked a regular Center like Krstic to start, but DH came off the bench and lit the sophomores up... (Y)

THE THREE POINT SHOOTOUT – DENVER, COLORADO

Image

Welcome once more to the Pepsi Center, home of the Denver Nuggets and venue of this year’s All Star Weekend events and festivities. Saturday it is, and the three point shooting contest is coming right up, featuring some of the best long range shooters the game of basketball has to show today…

From our team, Baron davis was chosen to participate, doing very well so fat in the season with around .400 % percentage from beyond the arc…

ImageImage

Unfortunately, Baron could not find a rhythm , being the first to come out and shoot… The moneyballs weren’t dropping, and his score only was a meager 13…

Image

On the other hand, Ray Allen and Larry Hughes really went on fire and put up some great 8 and 9 point streaks to reach 23 and 20 points, respectively, reaching the final round where they’re going to duke it out for the crown…

ImageImage

In the final round, Larry Hughes went fist and put up a fine score of 19, but Ray Allen was simply on fire and made shot after shot to record one of the greatest performances of all time, racking up 27 points and taking hope the three point crown as the crowd gave him a standing ovation…

Coming Up: The Slam-Dunk competition…. Can white guys jump???

Tue Jun 14, 2005 3:08 am

Very realistic of Ray Allen winning even though I would've preferred Jwill  It's sad to see your player only racking up 13 though. I'll be waiting for the Dunk Contest

Grrr... B-Davis readjusted the rim with those bricks he threw... well, maybe next year....

JWill came close, but no cigar... :D

Dunk contest should be fun... pretty close battle between all 4 guys... Can J-Rich grab a record 3rd slam dunk title? Or will Desmond Mason, AK 47, or teammate Rodney White deprive him of the chance to do so? Stay tuned, and find out.
