NEW YORK KNICKS’ Draft choices:

It all went as planned for the Knicks in the 05 draft, with the guys they wanted to pick landing in thei rlap both in th efirst and in the second round.

With the 17th overall pick, New York selected Tomaki Rice, an undersized PG with excellent athletic and dribbling ability, plus enough passing skills to gradually make the transition to PG in the next level. His overall rating is 53 after the training camp.

With the 47th overall pick, New York selected gargantuan Center Timothy Russell. Tim stands at 7’ 3” , has great shot blocking ability and is immovable when assuming position in th epaint for rebounds. Given his work ethic and rawness, look for young Russell to improve and gain a place in the roster’s first 12 by next year. His overall rating is 47 after training camp.

July 25, 2005

Today is the official beginning of the free agent signing period. Being so much over the cap, we can offer only minimum contracts to fill holes in the bench.

July 27, 2005

We signed four guys today. They are: Jerome James, C, 7’1”, previously of the Sonics,

Ronald Dupree, SF, 6’7”, previously of the Pistons,

undrafted rookie Pavel Erlich, a Czech kid who was raised and played in Romania for Steaua Bucharest. He’s a sharp shooting SG that stands at 6’3”.

Also, Tom Gugliotta, PF, 6’ 9”,previously of the Hawks.

Furthermore, around the league, there were two important signings:

- Larry Hughes was signed by the Chicago Bulls, further strengthening their young backcourt of Hinrich and Gordon.
- Pau Gasol joins the Charlotte Bobcats. Look for the Cats to cause no end of trouble in the paint in their second season with a frontcourt of Pau and Okafor .

Today I made a trade that I am really proud of. Seeing as though the Warriors used Pietrus as a starting SF last year, and in conjunction with the fact that they used their no 10 pick in this years draft to select Cummings, another SF, I came to the conclusion that Mike Dunleavy Jr. was not a part of their franchise’s plans anymore. So I offered them recently resigned to a bargain deal Trevor Ariza along with PF/C Slava Medvedenko for him and they accepted. Should Mike be anything near what he was expected to be when he was drafted at # 3,4 years back, then this trade could prove a regular steal for us. I expect Dunleavy to challenge Tim Thomas for the starting SF job . If he comes off the bench, he can relieve Allan Houston at SG too. A great trade with little to lose and a lot to gain.

And that concludes the off season. 05/06 regular season starting soon.

Troy Murphy went to the Hawks....you wouldn't be luvin' it

looks like Sonics picked Honor-ism in your dynasty too

hmm....re-uniting with the enigmatic Dunleavy Jr :o I hear the boos echoing from MSG  nice to see Pietrus starting though....Warriors made the right move :D

I thought you might draft Rice....I like the pick....how can you go past a guy called Rice....as long as he's more like Glen than Darius I guess

wtf are the Grizzlies doing give Steve Blake that long-term deal :shake: and that's after letting Gasol go to the Bobcats :shake:

as always, dynasty is looking good....

one last question though....who ended up drafting desmond jackson?!? :?:

The new season is about to begin, and here is the team’s opening night roster/depth chart for 05/06:

Image

Mike Dunleavy had a good pre-season and stole away Tim Thomas starting SF job. Plus, Thomas has proven he can play PF due to his height and strength, so he will be my 6th man , covering both backup SF and PF positions, leading New York’s second unit. Brian Grant and Jerome James can cover for Magloire at backup C, while rookie Mack Rice and Eric Piatkowski will be relieving Houston’s old legs when the vet is on the bench. All in all, I do believe this year’s team is a little bit deeper than the one that got to the Finals in 05, even if some guys are going to play some minutes out of their preferred position.

October 28, 2008

New York 98 – Indiana 104 (Record:0-1)
Not the best debut for the Knicks losing to the Pacers at home. Jermaine O’Neal met no resistance and demolished the opposition with 37 points, 11 rebounds, and 15/19 shooting from the fiels. New York only had Odom’s 21 points and Dunleavy’s 20 to lean on, but those two were not enough to edge out Indiana all by themselves.

October 30, 2005

New York 94 – Toronto 71 (Record:1-1)
First win of the season for the Knicks abd a very easy one to boot. Lamar Odom led his team with 21 points while JC added 10 assists. New York owes thi svictory to defense, though, as they managed to shut down Bosh, Rose and Alston completely, cruising to victory in the second half

October 31, 2005

Cleveland 95 – New York 91 (Record:1-2)
The Knicks had an awful first quarter giving away a 15 point lead to the Cavs, and then slowly started chewing it away doing a good job of shutting down LBJ in the process. Lamar Odom was the best Knick on the court for the third straight game with 27 pts-8rebs-6ast, but the damage for Cleveland was being done by Ilgauskas, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

November 4, 2005

Washington 99 – New York 88 (Record:1-3)
Antawn Jamison’s 34 points along with Larry Hughes’ 20 pts and 10 assists killed the Knicks’ chances of escaping DC with a win. Odom was once again sensational with 27 pts- 11rebs-7ast, but the rest of the team never really came to life at any point in the game, conceding the victory to the Wizards.

November 5, 2005

New York 97 – Chicago 77 (Record:2-3)
A fine win at the Garden, another fine performance by Odom with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Lamar is shaping up to be the leader of the Knicks this season, but the rest of the guys need to step it up, especially Jamal Crawford who has been shooting awfully low percentages from the field, including 2/14 in this one.

November 7, 2005

New York 95 – New Jersey 87 (Record:3-3)
It was close up until the start of the 4th quarter, but then the Knicks went on a charge spearheaded by JC and Odom and got the win easily in the end, aginst their local and divisional rivals, the Nets. JC had 18 pts- 8 ast on 8/13 shooting, while Magloire had 12 rebounds. Jason Kidd had 27 and Vince carter 25 for New Jersey.

Get a messenger if you want to talk with replies within a minute. :D

Anyway about you're dynasty: at first I was kind of sceptical, because it seemed to me like you were joking around and messing with the Knicks. Then you got the on the right track and made some pretty nice trades (just not players that I 100% liked but they were alright). But now that you've trade Ariza for Dunleavy, it seems like you're messing around a little bit again. Although it can be lack of personal favorites on your team from your side, I think the real Knicks wouldn't trade Ariza and I don't like Dunleavy AT ALL. So I don't really know what to think of it, we'll see what happends next.

Think Live-think ratings: Ariza rated 59, Dunleavy 68. Tim Thomas getting the boot after this seasom. Ariza can't shoot, Mike can, and I prefer to use shooters. Simple really...
