THE GAME: MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS

1ST QTR
Jason Richardson put up the first 5 points if the ball game, but it was the home team that was leading 13 – 9, 5 minutes into the quarter, led by an effective inside offensive play. Pau Gasol was dominant in the paint and with the aid of the entire Memphis squad on defense, who made 4 steals in the first 10 minutes, had the Grizz leading in the 1st 31 – 23, despite Luke Walton’s heroic low-post fights and 6 points.

Image
Pau Gasol led the Grizzlies in their 1st quarte charge

2ND QTR
Stromile Swift took the mantle on Memphis’ offense from Gasol and opened up the second period with 10 consecutive points, most of them the result of his leaping ability and the resulting offensive rebounds. Luke Walton was on the court during the whole quarter having Mike Dunleavy, a ghost in the first, seating on the bench. He was fighting alone, though, and Gasol with Swift had no problem dominating the inside still to lead Memphis into the second half, 52 – 40.

Image
Luke Walton was the main offensive weapon for the Warriors in the 2nd quarter, but could not make the difference.

3RD QTR
Mike Miller was added to the Grizzlies’ players on fire and carried their offense for the first 5 minutes of the 3rd period of the game. Big men Gasol and Swift were still having a volleyball match under Golden State’s basket , while the Californians were having trouble at the offensive end, too, whith Richardson having gone cold from the field and Walton in the bench for breathers. It didn’t take much for the lead to reach insurmountable lengths, with the end of the quarter finding the Grizzlies leading with an astounding 84 – 60.

Image
Gasol was unstoppable, no matter how many guys he went up against

4TH QTR
Nothing actually changed during the final 12 minutes of the game, with Gasol grabbing offensive rebounds, Swift putting everything down with a dunk, and Jason Richardson battling it on his own on offense. The lead for Memphis never once dropped below 20 points so the home team coasted to its 4th win of the season using mostly bench players during the final stretch.Final Score MEM – GS 111 – 89

Stromile swift was unstopable and never missed a single FG attempt

THE GAME: CHARLOTTE BOBCATS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTE ANALYSIS

1ST QTR
The Bobcats were the better side in the opening minutes with rookie of the year candidate Emeka Okafor leading the charge from inside the paint, but it wouldn’t take long for the Warriors to turn things around. Mike Dunleavy spearheaded the attack with 7 points and Speedy Claxton seconded him with another 6 pts and an inspiring defensive effort, resulting in 3 steals. Complimented with strong peripheral defence, the away team managed to not only take the lead, but to close the quarter leading by 11. Score 13 – 24.

Image
Mike Dunleavy was Golden State's main offensive threat in the beginning

2ND QTR
Golden State continued playing suffocating defence both inside and outside the basket, thus keeping themselves ahead by a double digit margin up untril the half-time buzzer. Claxton was pressuring the ball and jumping into the passing lanes, while the ball was changing hands quickly on offense tiring and confusing the Bobcats, of whom the only one trying and performing well was Okafor. Half-Time Score: 33 – 43.

Image
Jason Kapono closed the 2nd quarter with a buzzer beater 3 pointer with a man right on top of him

3RD QTR
Charlotte came in strong in the second half, well, in fact,Okafor did, but that seemed enough to compromise Golden State’s lead and attempt to turn the game in favour of the home team. Emeka was dominant, grabbing one offensive board after another and scoring against anyone who man-marked him. On the other side, Troy Murphy and Jason Richardson were the only two producing points offensively and not allowing the ‘Cats to tie the game, consolidated by Elden Campbells efforts on the boards and defense. Score 55 – 62.

Image
Emeka Okafor was the only offensive threat for Charlotte in the game

4TH QTR
Okafor kept up the pressure while Brevin Knight put on his thieves’ guild mask and was picking pass after pass. It did not take long for the Bobcats to even up the score and in fact take a 1-point lead 69-68 5 minutes into the period. Fortunately for the Warriors, though, Troy Murphy and J-Rich were there to lead a comeback which resulted in a victory for the Californians, their second of the season and their first one on the road. Final Score: CHA – GS 77 – 86

Image
Troy Murphy grabbed 6 rebounds in the 4th quarter, including this follow-up dunk, and consolidated Golden State's dominance in the final 4 minutes.

THE GAME: CLEVELAND CAVALIERS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS

1ST QTR
It was Cleveland’s Lithuanian center Zydrunas Ilgauskas who dominated the first minutes of play, especially on the defensive end with 3 blocks over the unsuspecting opponents that dared drive towards the basket. But LeBron James was all alone on the offensive end, with the Warriors doing a good job on limiting his passing options and playing good close-up defence on everyone on the perimeter. Jason Richardson carried the mantle of scoring with 12 points, aided by Troy Murphy in the rebounding area. Score 18 – 26.

Image
Jason Richarson was 2 out of 2 in his 3 point attempts during the first quarter.

2ND QTR
J-Rich and Murphy kept up their dominating presence on scoring and rebounding, respectively, but to their contribution was added that of Luke Walton, who came of the bench mid-1st quarter and really started to fire up during the second. 8 straight points, including 2 back-to-back buzzer beating 3 pointers devastated every Cleveland attempt to reverse the momentum of the game. LeBron James was still utterly alone offensively and no Cavs player could play effective defence, thus resulting in the lead continually growing. Score: 29 – 46.

Image
Luke Walton's buzzer-beating 3 point shots demoralized Cleveland's players in the second quarter

3RD QTR
Same ol’, same ol’ in the third quarter, with good all around D and mature choices on the offensive end by Golden State. Same ol’, same ol’ for the Cavs as well, with the addition that LeBron James, Cleveland’s only threat in the game, was injured during the first few minutes and had to sit on the bench for almost the entire remaining game. It couldn’t get much easier for the Warriors to maintain their lead while having the chance to allow most of their starters some breathing time as the subs rolled on. Score 51 – 68.

Image
LBJ hurt his left arm during a drive attempt and was out of play for almost the remainder of the game.

4TH QTR
The home team scored just 51 points in 3 whole quarters of play, but hey came out strong offensively in the final period of the game. Luke Jackson and Alexander Pavlovic found their stroke from the 3pt line, while LBJ’s return to action halfway through helped Cleveland mount a comeback attempt at the seemingly complacent Warriors. Jason Richardson would beg to differ , though, as he single-handedly thwarted any attempt at a comeback, scoring consecutive points with drives and mid-range jumpers, thus closing the game with 30 pts, his highest of the season thus far.
Final Score: CLE – GS 82 – 94.

Thanx man, I love your Heat dynasty, too.

Too bad I captured that screenshots a couple of frames too early, it was much funnier with J's foot all the way down into LBJ's ... you know what...

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. CHICAGO BULLS

Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS

1ST QTR
The opening quarter of the game was all about young Bulls’ center Eddy Curry. Curry dominated the paint offensively and defensively, scoring bucket after bucket on a seemingly incompetent Golden State defensive line. Vlade Divac, Elden Campbell and Dale Davis were all recruited to man-mark him during the first 12 minutes but none of them did a remotely good job, allowing the Baby Bull to finish the period 14pts and 4rebs. The Warriors, on the other hand, were inconsistent offensively and relied on one – on – one attempts to score, thus the score of 24 – 30 with a Troy Bell half coult buzzer beater was relatively close compared to what it could have been.

Image
Troy Murphy was trying, bust most of the dunks in this quarter belonged to Eddy Curry

2ND QTR
The beginning of the second quarter this season is usually the time when Luke Walton comes to save the day, and that is exactly what happened in this game as well.
The son of NBA legend Bill Walton, scored consistently used in the PF position and played good defence over Chicago’s inside men, despite his lack of size. Dunleavy picked up the pace on offence and Vlade Divac took care of cleaning up the glass on defence to allow the Californians to narrow the gap. The score was 32 – 35 3 minutes into the quarter, and were it not for Jason Richardson’s erratic shooting on offense they might have pulled ahead before the half. Half – time score: 51 – 58

Image
J-Rich could only score from THIS distance in the first half of the game.

3RD QTR
It was Luol Deng’s turn to carry the offensive load for the Bulls as he scored 8 pts during an early stretch put his team ahead again by double-digits, 56 – 67. Dunleavy and Divac rallied to bring the game closer, 70 –75 , and during the final minutes Golden State’s pressure D along with Jason Richardson's effective drives, resulted in the two teams being separated only by a single basket at the 3rd quarter’s end. Score :
83 – 85

Image
Dunleavy tried to bomb the Bulls into submission but they managed to hang on

4TH QUARTER
The Warriors came out stronger for the final stretch of this match, with Richardson picking up the pace and Dunleavy extremely effective on offense for the first time this season. Golden State led the game for the first time 88 – 87 with 10 minutes to go, as a result of a 3pointer by Richardson, and with the aid of Walton and Dunleavy had the lead up to six, 100 – 94 a few possessions later. Unfortunately for them , though, this is about the time for Ben Gordon to come of the bench and assume leadership role as far as scoring is concerned, and that’s what he did in this instance as well. The rookie out of Uconn, was hitting them from all over the court and had the game tied 105 – 105 in no time, with 1:14 to go. Kirk Hinrich picked Richardson’s pass clean on the next possession and fired a 3 pointer on th efast break, making it 105 – 108
Next up, Luke Walton carries the offense, fakes from the low post, drives, 107 – 108
Chicago’s ball with 40 seconds to go, Golden State plays excellent defence, winds the clock down to 2 and then Ben Goldon stabs them in the heart with a 23 footer right on the buzzer. Mike Dunleavy’s 3 point attempt from 30 feet in the end was no good and so the Baby Bulls pulled out a victory in Oakland. Score 107 – 110

Image
It was "Gordon time" once again as the rookie single-handedly gave the victory to Chicago.

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS

1ST QTR
The game went blow-for-blow in the first minutes with neither team being able to shake the other, until SF Shane Battier put up 5 straight points on the board to have the visitors lead 11 – 16 midway through the quarter. At that time, Golden State coach Mike Montgomery decided to change the pace of the game to a slower tempo and subbed ailing Speedy Claxton with Troy Bell. It worked, as Bell kept shooting the ball well and distributing passes with perfection, ending the period with 4 assists. Seconded by Divac’s monstrous rebounding effort(8), the Warriors ended the first dozen minutes of the game leading 28 – 24.

Image
Troy Bell came in halfway through the quarter to change the pace of the game and ...

Image
...vindicated Mike Montgomery's choice, whom many were referring to as "sleeping on the bench" beforehand. Errrr... wrong choice of pic...

2ND QTR
Dunleavy claimed the spotlight in the beginning of the second quarter, nailing 2 consecutive 3 pointers thus providing the home team with a 10 point advantage, which pretty much stayed intact until half-time. Gasol was leading the Grizz from inside the paint, while Troy Bell continued to score aided byJason Richardson and season-surprise backup Luke Walton. Half time score: 55 – 46

Image
Pau Gasol was doing his part byt was unable to bring the Grizz into striking distance...

3RD QTR
Gasol was dominant as ever , and with adequate help from Shane Battier’s perimeter game and Jason Williams’ pinpoint passing on the break, Memphis managed to negate the half time gap and tie the game at 63 mid-quarter. Jason Richardson quasi-effective performance did not help Golden State, while ball distribution suffered heavily due to the visitors’ strong zonal defense. It was only the presense of backup big men Elden Campbell and Dale Davis, who subbed for an in-foul-trouble Troy Murphy, that kept them from collapsing. Score 71 – 71

Image
Elden Campbell gave heroic battles in the paint to prevent the Grizzlies from taking over the game...

4TH QTR
Golden State’s big men Divac and Murphy took the mantle on offense bringing their team ahead by 6 , 8 minutes before the end. Memphis mounted an attempt to reclaim the momentum with Jason Williams and Pau Gasol as frontrunners, but it was the sudden awakening of J-Rich that took them by surprised and turned the table for the home team. The All-Star wannabe guard had 10 points in 3 quarters but scored 14 in the final, leading his team to victory. 3 pointers, strong drives, and no-look passes were the norm for the explosive swingman who had The Oakland Arena fans on their feet right up until the end , and deservedly received a standing ovation when it was all over. Final Score : GS – MEM 98 – 87

J-Rich's dominant 4th quarter performance handed the Warriors their second straight victory...

Speedy Claxton is really letting me down and pulls the team down with him.

I am thinking about attempting a trade for a pure PG or combo-guard who can shoot well.

Any suggestions?

Nov 21, 2004 - Yahoo Sports

Steve Kerr’s High Five – Low Five

High 5

1. Boston 7-1 Image
The Celts started off great led by the inspiring play of veteran point guard Gary Payton, while Ricky Davis and Paul Pierce supplement him for an impressive offensive trio. If they keep this up, the Atlantic division would be all green come April

2. San Antonio 8-2 Image
Nothing new here as the Spurs’s trio of Duncan, Ginobili and Parker, complete with a vast array of hard-working non-star supporting cast are headed for another 55 win season. It would be a major surprise if they fall bellow that number.

3. Phoenix 8-2 Image
Now there’s a surprise. Steve Nash’s addition to an already talented but underachieving lineup did wonders for the Suns’ chances. Amare Stoudemire seems to have solved his rebounding deficiencies averaging 12 boards a game, but it’s the Canadian’s 21points and 9assists that provide the spark.

4. Miami 7-4 Image
Shaq’s addition had the expectable results. The Heat are a dominating team in the paint with the Diesel being unmarkable as usual, while Dwyane Wade picked up from where he left off last year and carries the perimeter game.

5. Dallas 8-3 Image
Dirk Nowitzki started off the season slowly with nary a 20 point game in his first four appearances but is starting to pick up and so are the Mavs. Jason Terry’s presence at the point has been a pleasant surprise while the bench is always providing an extra spark. One of the deepest teams of the league and my personal favorite to win the West.

Low 5

26. New Orleans 3-5 Image
The Blues heve been way too dependent upon Baron Davis and Jamal Mashburn to score and carry the load, while Jamal Magloire is not having an All-Star start to his season. Predictable game and poor choices along with leaking defense are not going to get the Hornets far, if this keeps up.

27. New Jersey 3-6 Image
Kenyon Martin is having a great start with the Nuggets at 25ppg and 11rpg, and exactly this kind of presence inside is what the Nets miss. Kidd, Carter and Jefferson are probably the best trio in the league, but the paint is one huge void. They are not going anywhere near their recent successes unless they strengthen their squad with some big men. They even traded the only big body they had, Elden Campbell, to the Warriors to get undersized PF Najera. Go figure…

28. Minnesota 2-6 Image
Are the Wolves’ years finally catching up to them? KG is as dominant as never, but the backcourt duo of Cassell and Sprewell have been unconsistent to a sickening degree. It’s 25 points one day and 9 the two next. They better shape up soon if they want to anything remotely close to what they did last season.

29. Philadelphia 3-7 Image
With Allan Iverson at just 17ppg the Sixers cannot expect much. AI is the heart and soul of the team, and his paly reflects theirs’ completely. So unless the Answer picks up his play, Philly is going to struggle.

30. Atlanta 2-7 Image
Antoine Walker is playing for himself and his stats it seems, while newly acquired Al Harrington is struggling to get into a rhythm. The rookies are adjusting but chemistry seems to just not be there for the Hawks. They still have time to jell, though.

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. NEW ORLEANS HORNETS

Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS

1ST QTR
It started off with Jamal Magloire trying to prove his numbers so far of 11ppg and 8rpg wrong, as he consistently was grabbing offensive boards and scoring easy lay-ups. The Canadian Center scored his team’s first 8 points, and had the Hornets up 8 – 16 with 7 minutes to go. Golden State gave up too many offensive rebounds and had no leader on the court during the quarter, but tightening up the defence after the 6th minute helped them cut the deficit down to 4. Score: 24 – 28

Image
Jamal Magloire dominated the paint early in the game and finished the first quarter with 16pts and 6rebs...

2ND QTR
The game’s second period started out as a personal scoring joust between Hornets’ straight-from-highschool rookie SG J.R. Smith and Warriors’ PF Troy Murphy. Jason Richardson also picked up his pace and ended his 1st quarter scoring draught, finishing up the half with 14 points in the board. Baron Davis' late stretch to score 8 pts kept the visitors in the game, who had Magloire finish the half with 22points and 8rebs, capping an excellent performance in the basket. Score: 59 - 54

Image
Luke Walton helped the Warriors take and maintain the lead before the half-time buzzer.

3RD QTR
Jamal Mashburn put up 6 straight points on the board nad helped his team regain the lead 61 – 63, but then Golden State threw veteran C Dale Davis in the game , which proved to be a vital factor for the course of the contest. Davis had 12 points and 6 rebounds in the third quarter alone, lifting the Warriors’ poise with his fighting spirit in the key and his effective though nasty defensive play. Jason Richardson continued to shoot well from both outside and inside, so it wouldn’t take long for the home team to lead by double digits. Adding to that the 10 consecutive points Mike Dunleavy scored being used as an Undersized yet overmobile PF, the quarter ended with Golden State clearly ahead, 88 – 73.

Image
Dale Davis came off the banch to lead the Warriors in the third quarter...

4TH QTR
Luke Walton carried the offense until the end, with Jason Richardson continuing to find the net from a distance. Troy Murphy was making his jumpers as well, so midway through the quarter with the deficit at aroung 25 points in favour of the Warriors’ , the Hornets threw the white towel and slowed down the game to a halt. It was time for Golden State’s 12th men to take the floor, so the visitors had the chance to decrease the gap to 13 to end the game. Final Score GS – NO: 113 – 100.

Image
J-Rich had good shot choices throughout the game and finished with a tally of 26 pts...

Sure. He hasn't played much, hopefully he'll be where I want him to be within the next 2-3 years. Here goes:

ImageANDRIS BIEDRINS PF/C

PPG: 2.8

RPG: 2.0

APG: 0.9

SPG: 0.13

BPG: 0 (didn't have the chance yet, I guess...)

MinsPG: 7.4

FG%: 52,4

3pt%: - (can he actually shoot 3s IRL?)

FT%: -(not fouled yet, although he has dunked it quite a lot)

I like Biedrins in my Dynasty, He's agile and agressive near the basket, I would use him more this season if it were not for Murphy, Campbell, Davis and even Walton who I sometimes use as a PF.

Thanks. He has 7.4 minutes per game, but has played in about half of my games because I am trying out Cabarkapa too. If I used Andis as a starter letting him stay on the court about 35 minutes, I guess he'd be around 13ppg, 9rpg , 2apg, 1bpg. :!:

Are you going to try to develop Walton? Sounds like he's playing pretty well. Perhaps you could move him into the starting lineup to give him some more time and then with some training he will possibly become a star player!

Just check my avatar pic and you've got the answer to your question. He's one of my favorite players IRL and I use him as a sixth man in the Dynasty.

He's more productive when used at the PF position, despite his 6' 8". He's smooth and a good inside scorer, although he lacks sheer size for the position.

He's definitely a keeper as he averages about 10ppg in 25-28 mins per game. If Dunleavy keeps up his inconsistency(why can't I release a proper shot with him???) I gather Luke would have the starting SF spot pretty soon. Papa Bill would be proud!!! :D

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. LA CLIPPERS

Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS:

1ST QTR
The Clippers were on fire at the beginning. Bobby Simmons had probably the best 12 minutes of his basketball career in the first quarter. Every jumper he attempted , he made. The scoreline started from 2 – 10, went 9 – 18, then 16 – 28 with 2minutes to go. Richardson was pointless, defensive rebounds were about as scarce as logic in the White House and the Warriors seemed to crumble. Another 5 points by Bobby Simmons had the Clippers’ up 16 – 33 at the end.

Image
Bobby Simmons scored 20 points in th efirst quarter alone...

2ND QTR
The second period started the very same way the first ended. Missed shots and poor offensive options for the home team, continuous offensive rebounds and easy scores for the visitors. Elton Brand seemed to have magnets on his palms, while Simmons kept firing the ball well both from inside and from outside. Meanwhile, the Warriors were struggling to get into any semblance of a rhythm, with the only one trying adequately being backup big man Elden Campbell, who was giving his fair share of battles beneath the rim. One man is never enough, though(unless his initials happen to be MJ),so the Clips led in the half with an embarrassing 36 – 62.

Image
Elton Brand was dominant in th ebasket helping extend the Clips' lead into the half...

3RD QTR
Golden State needed to come out strong in the second half and make a statement if they were going to have any chance of winning this game, and, luckly, they did. Hard-nosed defence resulted in an array of steals, Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy seemed to be flawless from the field, all the while every single player that took the floor for the Clippers looked lost in the game. It did not take long under these circumstances for the Warriors to rapidly cut down on the lead, especially during the time that Elton Brand went to the bench for a breather. The best quarter of the season so far for Golden State, score 71 – 75.

Image
Elden Campbell had a surprise performance that let the Warriors back in the game...

4TH QTR
It was inevitable for the Warriors to take the lead judging from the two teams’ 3rd quarter performance, and that happened halfway through the final period with the score 85 – 84. Campbell and Richardson were carrying the load, with Troy Murphy quitly but efficiently racking up points as well. The game went on with the lead exchanging hands until 1:30 for the end, when a Richarson buzzer-beating 3 pointer went in and made the score 96-92, forcing the Clippers to start sending their opponents to the free throw line soon after. The home team was patient ,making them all, and so the game ended 102 – 94 for GS, a great comeback from being down by 26 in the half.

Image
This 3pointer by J-Rich made the score 96 - 92 and turned the tide in Golden state's favor...

Perhaps you can go back over old posts and edit them, removing the pictures? That way you can still post lots of pictures from current games and just get rid of the past ones, at least ones from the Day's results?

THE GAME: LA CLIPPERS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS

Image

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER ANALYSIS

1ST QTR
Boring. That sums up the first quarter of this game. Slow tempo, poor offensive choices and quite a number in turnovers made this a hard to watch spectacle, albeit not a low-scoring one. Jason Richardson carried the Warriors with 6 points, but Kerry Kittles was keeping the Clippers ahead throughout. Score 23 – 17.

Image
Kerry Kittles' effective drives held the Clips ahead in the 1st quarter...

2ND QTR
Corey Maggette caught fire to start the second quarter and put 9 points on the board in the first 4 minutes, putting LA up 32 – 21. With Kerry Kittles driving the ball in the basket very effectively and rookie PG Shaun Livingston equally effective in tempo control, the home team never looked back until the half time buzzer, especially considering Luke Walton’s and Troy Murphy’s brick laying activities. Score 51 – 39.

Image
Elton Brand didn't face much resistance dominating the paint during the first half...

3RD QTR
Vlade Divac' performance was a revelation in the third period, when he single handedly carried the load for the visitors both on offence and on defence. One man cannot make a difference, though, and despite Golden State closing the gap to 5, 72 – 67 , a 7-0 run courtesy of Kerry Kittles ended the quarter 79 – 67 for the Clips.

Image
Vlade Divac' active presence in the 3rd quarter earned him quite a few trips to the lane but his efforts were not enough to wake up the Warriors' game.

4TH QTR
It was a drag of a game until the end. LA never really felt threatened, keeping the double-digit margin intact throughout. This time around Jason Richardson found his touch, same with Jason Kapono, while Troy Murphy was bringin’ down the boards like crazy. But, at the same time, so did the Clippers.Elton Brand kept using his strength to back down every defender, Bobby Simmons fired and Kerry Kittles was scoring at crucial points. Final Score 102 – 89 for the Clippers.

Image
J-Rich came out of his scoring slumber in the final minutes but it was too late for Golden State to mount a come-back...

PLAYER OF THE GAME:

ELTON BRAND 23pts – 10rebs – 8blk
