hah, Rodney White rocked his old team with a double double and 4 assists, way to go. I love the feeling when players get revenge on their old team (besides Vince killing the Raptors at home...)

Glad to see you follow this dynasty, Mafia... Looks like the Nuggets are no match for our franchises

True. Rodney hates the Nuggets + I hate the Nuggets + I control Rodney = Rodney trashes the Nuggets.

Next update coming up. GS vs. TOR. Stay tuned...

Why do you hate the Nuggets?

Why do you hate the Nuggets?

Eye-straining away jerseys and the 94 upset over Kemp's Sonics, among other reasons...

The current team's completely different now though.

Not when they knock out the team you are bandwagoning for an entire season...

On with the recap:

DECEMBER 28, 2004

GAME OF THE DAY:

SAN ANTONIO - PHOENIX 96 - 79 (Bruce Bowen 21pts - 6rebs - 6/7 3pt)

DECEMBER 29, 2004

THE GAME: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. TORONTO RAPTORS

Image

Mike Dunleavy started this one being hot from the field and consecutively hitting open jumpers from the 20' area, resulting in him scoring 9 of Golden State's first 13 points of the contest.Rafer Alston was trying to immitate him with some perimeter scoring of his own, but the big clash of the first quarter was between veteran big men Elden Campbell and Alonzo Mourning who, despite their age, were giving their all and then some during th erebounding battles. The quarter ended 23 - 20. In the second period the key point for the Warriors was the offensive awakening of Jason Richardson, who came in from a scoreless first 12 minutes to hit 3 straight including a 3pointer to get his point tally to 7 and his team ahead by double digits very early in the quarter. With the valuable aid of Claxton's passing and Murphy's rebounding activity, and only Mourning trying for the other team, Golden State had no problem leading 49 - 42 at half time.

J-Rich not only led a scoring charge for the Warriors in the second quarter, but had 6 assists to close the half...

The third quarter was a nightmare for the visiting Raptors.Mike Dunleavy picked up his gun and shot spot-on from every spot on the court, Murphy was causing trouble for Toronto's sluggish big men, and Jason Richardson was being uncharacteristically altruistic passing the ball to the open man at every opportunity. With the visitors struggling mightily on offense scoring 12 points in 12 minutes and leaking terribly on defense, allowing 30 during the same span, the quarter ended 79 - 61 for the home team. During the final period, all Golden State had to do is control the game tempo and not allow the Raps to mount any sort of serious comeback. This they did, using offense rather than defense. For every Toronto basket, followed a Golden State one, with the bench players scoring to help this continue.Toronto could not get adequate scoring help from Chris Bosh and Alonzo Mourning, leaving Mo Peterson and Rafer Alston trying to hit their contested shots from the perimeter. In the end, the Warriors had no real trouble winning this game easily, 109 - 84.

Mike Dunleavy not only hit his jumpers in the second half, but managed to pump fake and drive effectively more than a few times...

POG: JASON RICHARDSON 15pts - 8ast - 3rebs - 1blk - 1stl

GS TOP PLAYERS:

MIKE DUNLEAVY Jr. 22pts - 10/15 FGs

TROY MURPHY 14pts - 7rebs - 4ast

When did they beat the Kings out of the Playoffs? Are you talking about ancient things?

Dr. DWeaver99027, good thing beating the Raptors.

yep, dweaver and I are showing our age
I think it was back in that 94 playoff series where Nuggets beat Sonics from No. 8 seed to come back from 0-2 down....but to get into that No. 8 seed the Nuggets had to beat Mitch Richmond (and possibly Tyus Edney although he might have come one year later, not sure) and the Kings in the final game of the season with the winner taking the No. 8 seed....I think Nuggets made it on a tiebreaker :x

great series though, some very memorable Retardo and Pack dunk moments....

dweaver, nice to see Dunleavy get going....another Great White Hope

Sun Apr 24, 2005 12:36 pm

Back then I only really paid attention to the East Playoff games. Knicks and Bulls..

Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:42 pm

yep, dweaver and I are showing our age

Brother, it's all about you,me, and C-mac being NLSC's Elder Guard...

dweaver, nice to see Dunleavy get going....another Great White Hope

He's pretty inconsistent though. He's a great player if you sim games, but if you play every one like me, he's too much of a spot shooter and too slow off the dribble to be a big factor in my playing style. So it's safe to say he's on my trading block...

Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:45 pm

have you got anyone in mind to step in or trade for at SF to replace Dunleavy?!?

Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:47 pm

 Need I say it? You know the answer already... Mwahahaha

Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:49 pm

you got me

Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:51 pm

Think curly hair, think Bill's last name, think dweaver's own personal aversion... Yep, that's right. It helps that he's rated 64 now, too.

Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:58 pm

yeh, I already knew where you were going with it....how is old Luke going anyway? last time I checked he was getting about 9-10ppg off the bench....you getting him any minutes at SG?

Sun Apr 24, 2005 6:01 pm

His number have dipped a bit, especially since the advent of Rodney White who is playing exceptionally well at PF and especially poorly at SF... I project that Luke as a starter getting 30-33 minutes a game will average something in th elikes of 10ppg-5rpg-5apg. More of a team player than anything, really. He's still young, though, and passionate about the game...

Sun Apr 24, 2005 6:03 pm

yeah, that's the good thing about having Luke in the lineup....no pressure to get him his numbers....he'll get them in the team concept....I'm hoping I can get him back in my regular rotation otherwise I'll do him a favour and trade him....

Sun Apr 24, 2005 6:06 pm

otherwise I'll do him a favour and trade him....

Take note, though, he'll be a 70 overall in your dynasty next year or so...

I think you might have forgotten that I'm 2 seasons ahead of you ('06/07) and he's still a 64....he doesn't appear to be progressing at all....and if I recall correctly, he's in either his last or 2nd last year of his deal and I don't think I would resign him as I'm already chocka up front....it's better for me to deal him for a 1st Rounder or a SG if I can....

either way, enough about my dynasty....I hope Luke evolves for you though :P

Sun Apr 24, 2005 8:38 pm

Luuuuuke Walllllton! THe kid could get in the high 70's... i did it once before... he was a star role player!

Mon Apr 25, 2005 12:49 am

im surprised to see richardson getting POG for that game because he didn't exactly have the best numbers. but either way, it was a good win over toronto

Mon Apr 25, 2005 2:08 am

I'll groom him to be the next Larry Joe Bird

True. I've simmed a few dynasties for fun back when I got the game and he was always going 70+ overall (Y)

im surprised to see richardson getting POG for that game because he didn't exactly have the best numbers.

Well, this game seems to favor assists over every other secondary stat, so it is logical he got the POG...

Coming Up: The Warriors visit the Rose Garden to take on the problematic,as always, Blazers. Don't switch the channel!!!

Mon Apr 25, 2005 2:25 am

Good luck vs. the Blazers. Should be a win.

Mon Apr 25, 2005 12:42 pm

i even remember you putting up a luke walton avatar.......
