Charlotte beats Dallas 131-125

Charlotte, Feb. 3 (Ticker) -- Peja Stojakovic has another great game as the Charlotte improved their record to 11-3.

"I think we played good. We didn't do very well on defense, but our offense was great today, and we won" - said Peja.

Emeka Okafor got another double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Latrell Sprewell added 19 points.

The first quarter was very bad for the Bobcats. The Mavericks made a couple of good plays on offense and jumped on a 15-2 run.

"We need to rebound more. The Mavericks outrebounded us 61 to 44. This isn't what I expected from guys on defense today" - said Ivan Shchipansky.

The 2nd quarter went very well for the 'Cats. They catched some momemtum from back to back 3's from Peja Stojakovic and went on a 10-0 run. As the quarter ended the Bobcats were only down by 2 points.

"During the half time coach told us that we need to be more agressive on offense and fight for the rebounds." - said Jumaine Jones who was the high scorer off the bench for the 'Cats with 9.

Jason Terry was outstanding in the 3rd quarter, scoring 17 points out of his 36, but the rest of the team was quiet. The Bobcats won that quarter 29-26.

"During the time out at the end of the 3rd (quarter), I pulled the guys together and said - c'mon guys, i can't carry this team by myself, you gotta help me out!" - said Terry.

The 4th quarter was very high scoring. The Bobcats played slightly better at both ends and won the game.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 22 points, but that wasn't enough for the Mavs to win. Eric Dampier got a career high 22 rebounds. But the Player of the Game award went to Brevin Knight.

Charlotte, Feb.4 (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Bobcats traded Latrell Sprewell to the New York Knicks for Quentin Richardson.

Sprewell averaged 19 points a game for the Bobcats this year, and was a great addition during the offseason.

"We think that Sprewell played great for us, but we need younger players." - said Bobcats GM.

Richardson played well for the Knicks this year averaging 19.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 1.6 APG.

"I was very shocked when I heard these news. I think I can fairly well fit into this team." - said Q.

Quentin will be in action today against the struggling Milwaukee Bucks. 'Cats also presented Q's jersey:

Charlotte beats Milwaukee 114-97

Charlotte, Feb. 4 (Ticker)Kurt Thomas lit it up with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bobcats past Bucks.

“We played very well, I really liked the effort the guys put in the game to win, especially Kurt Thomas, he was outstanding tonight” – said Ivan Shchipansky, Bobcats Head Coach.

In the first the Bobcats got off to a good start and won the 1st quarter 24-16. Quentin Richardson scored 8 of his 17 points in the first quarter, he also got 4 rebounds before fouling out in 4th quarter.

Peja Stojakovic and Emeka Okafor combined for 38 points, Meka also added 10 rebounds and 4 steals.

In the 2nd quarter the Bucks received bad news, as TJ Ford went for a lay up against Kurt Thomas and injured his wrist. It wasn’t anything serious, but Ford didn’t comeback. The ‘Cats easily took this quarter 34-23 and were leading 58-39 at the break.

Kareem Rush scored 15 points off the bench. Maurice Williams was leading the Bucks with 21 points. Michael Redd was quiet tonight with only 15 points.

In the 3rd the Bucks came out ready to make a statement. They were aggressive on offensive end, and scored 33 points that half. But the Bobcats still led after 3rd by 5.

Jamaal Magloire and Andrew Bogut scored 14 and 13, respectively. Brevin Knight had a night off with only 10 points and 4 assists.

In the 4th the Bobcats showed the Bucks whose house is it and dominated the whole 4th quarter. The ‘Cats took the win 114-97.

“I think we played great. We were very aggressive on offense, we still need to work on the rebounding at the defensive end” – said Emeka Okafor.

The Player of the Game Award went to Kurt Thomas.

Indiana beats Charlotte 93-88

Indianapolis, Feb. 9(Ticker)Jermaine O’Neal had an unbelievable night. He scored 29 points and getting 22 rebounds. If he didn’t play like an MVP tonight the Pacers would have lost.

“I played very well tonight. My teammates did a great job too and we were ableto beat a very good team” – said Jermaine.

Even though one of their stars – Ron Artest Image was out with an injury, the Pacers did a great job on defensive end.

The first quarter went very quietly. The only big score was Brevin Knight’s bank at the buzzer from about 14 feet. Knight had an off game with 4 assists and 6 points.

“I don’t know what happened to me. I wasn’t playing my best, and maybe that’s the reason we lost tonight” – said Knight.

The Bobcats played very well in the 2nd. Peja Stojakovic’s back to back 3’s made the Pacers take a time out. Right after that TO, JO started to play very well.

In the 3rd Jermaine probably had one of his best quarters f his career, scoring 16 out of his 29 points, and making a statement on defense.

“Jermaine [O’Neal] did a great job. He covered me very well and I couldn’t get good shots” – said Emeka Okafor who scored 10 points and got 15 rebounds.

Peja Stojakovic scored 14 points of his 36 in 4th quarter, but that didn’t help the Bobcats much. The Pacers and the Bobcats were very close in the 4th quarter going toe to toe. In the end the Pacers got a 3 point lead after Jamaal Tinsley made a basket from the corner of the free throw zone. Bobcats head coach Ivan Shchipansky didn’t take a time out with 35 secs left in the 4th and told the ‘Cats to make a good play.

“I was expecting the pacers to get nervous on defense and fail to make a good defensive play and we can make a 3” – said Shchipansky.

But the Pacers showed that they will not get nervous and the y made the Bobcats. Even though the pacers double-teamed Peja and he pitched it out t Raymond Felton, rook failed to connect on the game tying 3. With 1.5 secs left the Bobcats fouled O’Neal expecting him to miss, but Jermaine made both Free Throws and put the ending sentence in the game.

The Bobcats are now 3rd in the East with a record of 12-4 and go on the break with an All Star game coming February 19th. Pacers are now 12-7.

5 players on the Pacers scored 10 or more points. Jonathan Bender proved again he was a bust in the draft getting 0 points and 8 rebounds. Quentin Richardson was the 2nd highest scoring man for the ‘Cats with 14 points, but he only shot 1 for 7 from downtown.

The Pacers got .450 from FG, whilst Charlotte only got .333.

The Player of the Game Award went to Jermaine O’Neal.

...from the Chronicles of the 2006 Birdie Project: (info)

Anthony15's Charlotte 2005-06 mid-season Birdie Breakdown:
Image
Sometimes carrying a team to victory doesn't always mean being the top scorer, but more so by being persistent AND consistant. Okafor proved this point mid-season and earned Team MVP honors with a weighted Birdie efficiency score of 20.73 - and his 'reversible' Live Card is now enabled.

Ladies and Gentleman, WE HAVE A NEW LEADER!:
This Dynasty instance is currently ranked #1 on the Official 2006 Birdie Board

...and 15th on the Birdie Board Hall of Fame!

the running leaderboard: (view entire list here)

The qualifers:
P. Stojakovic 24.9 ppg (ranks 5th)
E. Okafor: 12.8 rpg (ranks 1st)
B. Knight: 8.9 apg (ranks 3rd)
B. Knight 2.33 spg (ranks 5th)
E. Okafor 2.13 bpg (ranks 7th)
P. Brezec .511 field goal% (ranks 9th)

Complete 'Birdie Breakdown' coverage AND to see Okafor 's ' reversible' Live Card click here.

Anthony15: Well, in the scheme of the Birdie Board season, we're pretty much slightly under 1/3 of the way through. At least point, it's quite the accomplishment in being 1st on the board especially without showing ANY penalties! So thanks so much for taking the initiative and submitting your mid-season stats. I'm really looking forward to receiving your end of season stats! Please don't forget! ...and of course, congratulations!
