X's Blazers Dynasty (NBA Live 06)

A collection of memorable stories from NBA Live's franchise and career modes.

Postby Buckley on Wed Mar 29, 2006 11:28 am

wow, it seems anyone that tried game by game lost points.

question about the power/influence thing. so if i demanded a deal I would go back to 0?

I'll refer to Shaq as an example. He must have had a high power/influence to go from Orlando to Los Angeles. Wouldn't he still have all that influence when he was in Los Angeles?

Or would he have brought that power/influence back up over the years to get the trade to Miami?

Jugs_ wrote:nice recap, finally you have a winning month, and I guessed it correctly too.

Sad to see Outlaw gone but I think Eddie Griffin will have a career resurrection... then be traded

yep, finally over .500 for a month :P now all I have to do is get over .500 overall, which is always easier said than done

as for Eddie we'll have to see....I hope Outlaw succeed though....I'm not one of these people who likes to see players do poorly after I trade them, although it would go some way to justifying it if he didn't pan out

pHLo wrote:yep, just as i predicted.... u were going 5-4 (Y)
i somehow knew that u'll have a winning month :D

and the 9 games seemed to be too risky to pick W/L for every single game ^^
i'll wait for those predictions in the next months :)

i'm looking forward to the All-Star Weekend :D
it's always big fun !

and it's nice to have finally some other Rookie of the Month than Gay
it was just like everyone picked the same RoMs xD

i always enjoy reading your updates very much (Y)
...and i hope that we don't have too wait too long for the next update (i know u said it could be tomorrow... that'd be awesome :D )

cheers ;)

cheers man....yep, I've been really impressed with your picking....you know when to go for it & you know when to pull back & say "I'm staying out of this"....kinda like the Kenny Rogers "Gambler" song  you might be a good Texas No Hold 'Em player one of these days  (I'm pretty good myself, at least against Joe Bloggs)....

3C wrote:Nice recaps man, looks like the Blazers are starting to show form and Griffin seems to be doing well. One question though...with the current Blazers (NBA) who would you start at SG Lenard or Webster? Nice all thesame. (Y) (Y) (Y)

damn, is Lenard playing for Blazers now?!? didn't even know  must have been in that Ruben Patterson deal....as for in my dynasty, I'll start Webster as team is going alright now....I held him out of starting lineup for a season & a half, which is more restraint than most dynasty heads could

Sit wrote:Yeah Drew, make my day so when I come back from 12 hours of uni I can see you updated this thread!

patience man....I do have a life you know, & I am working

I played bball tonight in our team's semi....we played terrible, worst game in a couple of months....I played like J.J. Redick (against LSU that is)....ahh well, I boxed out & boarded & played D, my shot wasn't falling....even if it had of, I reckon we still would have lost....I must have earnt respect though in our division, as the minute the game started our opponents said "watch 13, watch shooter"....anywhere I moved, all you would hear is "shooter in the lane", "shooting cutting", "watch shooter"....they were jumping out really quick on me & switching well....I still managed to get some good looks in the 2nd half, but never got into a shooter's rhythm....ahh well, shit happens  we ended up losing by about 15....we lost due to poor defense (breaking down of our 3-2 zone) & pathetic work on the boards (no boxing out)....I had a word to the boys & we boxed out in the 2nd, but we were down by 15pts at the half & couldn't get it back to within 8pts....our offense just wasn't clicking tonight....

btw, I signed up my team, the "Fighting Irish" for next season....gotta try & get sponsorship (unlikely, but Trav will give it a shot, he's a salesman after all)....gotta get some cheap green jerseys with some gold/mustard-yellowish iron-on numbers & lettering (to write in O'Watson & O'Toon of course  )....we are gonna start out in the bottom division, the one I'm playing in now  but like your team, we only have a few experienced ballers, the rest are n00bs, but it should be fun nonetheless....maybe I'll try & find a green headband....actually, I'll get a mustardy one with mustardy wristband :P

anyway, enough about that....might snap up a real quick All-Star update for you guys

Devin112 wrote:Amazing work and dedication X, I hope to follow you and this far in my own dynasty. I love how all of our dynasties are a little different, so many things I can learn from everyone else. I like how you pay close attention to details, it really developed your dyansty. (Y)

cheers man....I guess you can always learn, just like I can....once you become closed to suggestions & external influences, then it is all over....

:x Another solid recap, you have the most consistent dynasty right now and big props to you for that. You almost at the 25 page mark!!!

I guess people like to see people stick with one dynasty & keep it rolling....not too difficult a formula I don't think

cwebbiverson wrote:wow, it seems anyone that tried game by game lost points.

Or would he have brought that power/influence back up over the years to get the trade to Miami?

okay, that's not how it works....I'll use pHLo as an example....he's currently on:

    pHLo (0.818, 13.0/18.0pts + 0.096 bonuses)

if pHLo demands a trade, his "power/influence" rating will drop to:

    pHLo (0.722, 13.0/18.0pts + 0.000 bonuses)

as you can see, the bonus points go back to zero....this is to stop players jumping from one situation to another....if you demand a trade from one team to another, there is a honeymoon period & there is no way a player, even Shaq, could ask for a trade straight away, but he was able to build it up over time....pHLo will be able to start earning bonus points again....the actual base of his scoring is still there....it's just to stop ridiculous high %'s which effectively are just the result of an accumulation of bonus points

if pHLo demanded a trade, which he could as he is above 0.800, then he would be dealt, but in his new situation the most he could do is request a trade or demand more PT....

sound a little more feasible & realistic now?!? & to think, I come up with this shit as I go along, as I'm posting recaps & stuff....always good to keep an open mind & be able to adapt :P

Hey mate, I dont wanna sound like im annoying or anything! :)

Anyways, good to hear bout the team update. Ours is I just recruited this 6'6" guy who played in my school team 2 years ago. It should be cool.

Nice that you got props now! Its real awesome.. better than me. In the first few games, it was just whenever I got the ball, a double team would come cause the other team assumes I'm good cause of my jersey. It felt good in one game when the I passed to a team mate and the defenders go, 'dont need to double up, he doesnt have handles...' so on the next posession I take a step back and hit a three in their face. (Y) And that came just when their coach shouts out, 'Shooter!' Pretty mad. haha

Yeh X, hope real life isnt starting to bore. Hows the new job btw?

I didn't mention that during the season I rained 5 3pters on this team one game & 3 in another game, they were ready for me....took it to the hoop, used fakes, but just wasn't working tonight....

real life is pretty interesting, won't get into it, but yep, new job is good....people seem cool, there's 2 other Kiwis there (we're everywhere) so that's sweet....so much to learn on the job, so much it's ridiculous....

will do a quick update ASAP as it'll probably be my last update until Sunday due to gf, trav's b-day, etc, etc

Yeah, it's cool bout ur play and stuff gettign recgonised. The thing about a small comp is teams can draw gameplans for opposing players who stood out from past games. In HS, we only played each team once and once the other team decides how to stop a good player, the game is nearly over.

that is definitely true....it's about making adjustments & overcoming the D........I did make adjustments, like throwing head fakes, driving into the guts of the defense (scored all my points like that tonight), & cutting & curling to get free....thing is I was getting myself some good looks in the 2nd half, but alas it wasn't to be  I guess the thing is that I'm a complementary player, but that will all change for the Fighting Irish, I will be the team's Mike Gansey

INTERCEPTED PDA's FROM BLAZERS' ORGANISATION

I have an anonymous source from the Portland Trailblazers' franchise who has kindly sent me some intercepted PDA messages regarding the 2007 All-Star Weekend. Let's see what they say. I managed to interThe Slam Dunk Contest Participants are as follows:

Image
A well-deserved selection for Randolph who was a big-time snubbee last year

Image
Let's see if he can outdo what Outlaw did last year

Image
Can anyone say token white guy?!? Well not really, David Lee CAN really dunk. He even beat James White in a high school dunk contest before, so that tells you that he's in with a shot

Image

Another well-deserved selection. Mo Pete is shooting the lights out of late & could get hot when it matters against the league's best gunners

That's all for today. I'll update you guys on the rest of the All-Star participants as they come to light.

anyway guys I gotta catch some sleep so I won't do any big analysis on these selections, but instead, I'll let you guys argue the picks between yourselves & listen to Sit gloat about how he gonna beat up on Andrew Bynum

Catch you on the flipside.

what are you talking about Jing?!? my birdie scores last season were around 75 birdie points, now I'm up to like 85 birdie points, if I know my Math (& I do), that's a 10 point rise, which is considerable....I expect to go up more now with the acquisition of Griffin & better all-around play from the boys
