Los Angeles Lakers (12-5) @ Memphis Grizzlies (11-7)

Game Preview

Lakers will again try to avoid a losing streak as they visit the Memphis Grizzlies. Lakers are 4-0 when coming of a lost and will try to continue on doing that. In their last game, Lakers jumped to an early lead but let the Rockets came back in the 4th quarter. Bryant only scored 19 points in that game and Odom played like the injury he got in Jazz game still bothering him.

Memphis Grizzlies are on a roller coaster ride in their last 4 game, finishing with a 2-2 record. They are coming from a 107-100 setback against the Bulls. In their first meeting of the season, Lakers dominated the whole game, winning it 95-78. In that game, Bryant put up a show with his high-flying dunks. Griz will try to avenge that ugly loss

Gasol only scored 3 points in their last meeting so expect more form Gasol in this game. Without 2 of their power forward, Odom and Andersen will need to double their effort in stopping Gasol and Swift. Again, Lakers will need to be careful with Griz outside shooting.

Game Recap

Image
Stromile Swift and the Grizzlies put up a
great defensive job against Bryant, who
shot less than 35% in the game.

Memphis Grizzlies started the game with 1 thing on their mind, revenge. After a 4-all count, Grizzlies made a 17-4 run to put them up 21-8. J-Wil, Posey and Miller came firing up cylinder to finish the quarter with Griz up 31-14. Odom scored 8 points for the Lakers but other Lakers starter were nowhere to be found. Lakers continued to struggle in the 2nd quarter. They also can’t find an answer to Miller hot shooting, scoring 12 in this quarter. The Griz extended their biggest lead of the game at 26 points, 52-26. A late run by Lakers cut the deficit at 19, 57-38. Bryant was shooting an awful 14.35 (2 of 14) from the field.

The game became a defensive battle in the 3rd period. Both teams combined to only 23 points with Lakers shooting 33% while the Griz just 26%. Lakers were unable to take advantage of Griz shooting woes and only outscored them by 3 points. Griz were still leading 67-51 after the 3rd period. Since Griz led by big margin, they were contended in trading basket with the Lakers. Lakers, on the other hand, were unable to find way to make a run. But with 3 minutes left and trailing by 17 points, Lakers made a big run. Led by Bryant and Odom, Lakers made a 9-0 run in 1 ½ minute. Coach Fratelllo called a timeout after seeing they only lead by 8, 88-80. After the timeout, Lakers made a big stop and had a chance to cut the deficit to 6. Odom drove to the basket and got fouled and will take too free-throws. But Odom was down and holding his hand. Looks like the injury he sustained in Utah got aggravated. Darko Milicic entered the game and sank 2 free-throws to cut it to 6 points. But that was the closest they got and the injury to Odom killed their momentum. Memphis Grizzlies win this one, 94-87. Miller finished with a game-high 20 points. Bryant despite a bad shooting night finished with 20 points, same output of Odom. Lakers are now on a 2-game losing streak for the first time this season.

Screenshots from the Game

Lamar Odom once again got injured but this it looked more serious.
Kobe Bryant struggles in the first 3 quarter before finding his touch in the final period.
Caron Butler goes for a reversed dunk in the 2nd quarter.
Desmond Jackson did a great job when J-Wil got into foul trouble.

Injury Report

Image

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Dec 07 -- After losing Brian Grant (broken finger) and Russel Santos (back spasm), Lakers got another big blow when Lamar Odom sustained a sprained finger in last night game against Grizzlies. This is the same injury he got in the Jazz game.

Image

After evaluating his injury, they said that his injury will take at least 8 days to heal. With that injury, Lakers will only have 11 players in uniform in their game against Cleveland Cavaliers.

Without 3 of their power forwards, Lakers will start Chris Andersen, who doing well lately, at the power forward position. Milicic will need to step up and seldom used Rafael Araujo will get more playing time. Lakers had no plans in signing free agent forward at the moment.

Honestly i try puting J-wil more in foul trouble but unable to do that... with htat you will play more minutes....
J-Wil definitely ate most time in Griz PG rotation... i guess that's why Watson never re-signed with Griz in off-season

i will give Kobe's shoes but which one or both?
Well the injuries give me more time to evaluate other players like Andersen, he's a great pickup last off-season.
Darko? i'm try giving him more time but as i said he got limited skills so i can find him ays to score, same goes with Warrick....

Los Angeles Lakers (12-6) @ Cleveland Cavaliers (7-10)

Game Preview

Lakers will try to snap their 2 game losing streaks when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lakers were struggling lately due to injuries to their key players. In their game against Rockets, Lakers built a big lead only to collapse in the final period. While in Grizzlies' loss, Lakers had a very bad start, trailing the whole game. Also in that game, Lamar Odom went down with a finger injury. Bryant is trying to carry the team but need help esp. guys like Caron Butler and Rafer Alston.

Cleveland Cavaliers are also struggling, losing 6 of their last 7 games. They lone win is sandwiched by two 3 game losing skid. No thanks to injuries to some key players. Lebron James was out for 5 games early in the season while rookie-NLSC baller Mark Moore was out for more than a month with a foot injury.

Image

This will be great match-up between Bryant and James. Both lead their respective teams in almost all statistical categories esp. scoring. But they will need lots of help from their supporting cast to get this much-needed win. Ironically, both NLSC ballers on both teams will not play in this game. Both Mark Moore and Russel Santos are on injured list.

Game Recap

Image
Lebron James long-game brilliance helped
the Cavs in winning this game.

As expected, the game was a very competitive and well-played game. No team led bigger than 4 pints and was close in this quarter. The game also features some shootout battle between Bryant and James. Both players traded basket throughout the 1st period. In the end both Bryant and James finished with 9 points each. All eyes were on these 2 players but McInnis quietly stole the show with his 12 points. Cavs lead 27-24 after this period. In the next period, Lakers got a big blow when Bryant was called for 2 straight fouls; the second foul gave him his 3rd in the game and forced to sit the remaining of the 2nd quarter. Cavaliers extended their lead to 7 but Lakers able to cut it back to only 2 points to end the quarter, 47-45.

After sitting most of the 2nd period, Bryant started the game aggressively. He scored 7 of Lakers first 10 points to put the Lakers in the driver’s seat, 55-53. But when Bryant was called for his 4th personal foul, he was again forced to sit the final 4 minutes of the 3rd period. During Bryant nursing his foul, Cavs again took over the Lakers and tied their biggest lead of the game, 69-62. Another late quarter run by the Lakers led by Butler and Andersen put them within 4 points. Cavs still lead 76-72 with 1 quarter left to play. Bryant again started the quarter on a high note. He led a big run that gave the Lakers a 4-poimt lead, 86-82, 5:28 left in the game. But Cavs came back within a single point and the game features several lead changes in the remaining minutes of the game. At 56.3 left, both teams were tied at 98-all. James made a basket to put them up by 2 points but Bryant quickly answered to tie it at 100-all, 40.3 left in the game. In the next possession, James made a big shot from downtown for a 103-100 advantage. Coach Phil decided to go for a quick 2 but Bryant missed a lay-up, he then intentionally foul James. James splits his charity for a 104-100 count. With 12.4 left, Lakers tried to make a 3-point but they missed. Bryant again fouled McInnis with 5 seconds. Bryant fouled out of the game. McInnis strangely missed both freethows but fortunate that Lakers never made the desperation shot for a 104-100 win. Lakers now lost 3 straight games after starting the season with 12-4. James finished with 28 points and got 21 points from McInnis. Bryant hobbled by foul trouble finished with team-high 23 points. Butler and Andersen added 19 and 15 respectively.

Always great updates, even through the fantasy trades and draft it still looks realistic.
For my NLSC baller, please lose the knee pads and give me team rubberbands on both wrists. And for shoes, can I have black-carolina Jordan XII's (the all black one with a carolina tip part)?

Los Angeles Lakers (12-7) @ San Antonio Spurs (13-7)

Game Preview

Lakers after a good start this season with 12-4 mark, Lakers lost 3 straight games. They were struggling since one by one, key players suffered various injuries. Bryant double his effort in carrying the team but all got negative results. He need more help not only on Lakers starters but also Lakers bench. In their first meeting, Lakers won 105-98 with both Bryant and Odom played great very well. Brian Grant will return to Lakers line-up but will be a game time decision.

San Antonio will try to even the season series and will need a great game from Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and esp. Manu Ginobili, who struggled in their first meeting. Spurs are on a 2-game winning streak, the last one was against the Phoenix Suns which they win by just 1 point, 97-96. Bruce Bowen will still play despite having a sprained finger.

Image

Without Odom and a questionable Grant, Lakers will use Andersen, Milicic and even Araujo in stopping Tim Duncan. The backcourt match-up will be fun to watch with Bryant and Alston going up against Spurs high energy backcourt of Ginobili and Parker.

Game Recap

Image
Tim Duncan had a huge game, finishing with
18 points, 16 rebounds and 2 blocks, both
against Bryant

Before the tip-off, Coach Phil decided not to play Grant in this game. Lakers stated the game like a team on a mission. But things turnaround, Spurs made a 13-2 run led by Duncan to put them 13-6 midway of the 1st quarter. Duncan again led the Spurs and got a big lift from the Spurs bench. At halftime break, Spurs held a 53-45 advantage.

In the 3rd period, Rasho Nesterovic got injured. His injury was not felt by the Spurs as Ginobili make up for him, scoring 12 points to in this quarter and helped the Spurs extended their lead to double digits. Lakers, on the other hand, unable to made baskets. After 3 quarter, Spurs now lead by 18 points, 84-66. In the final period, Lakers made a run to cut the deficit to only 12 points. They even cut it to 8 points but Parker made timely basket to kill Lakers momentum. A last effort by Bryant and Andersen in the final 3 minutes only made the score respectable. idiot vs. The Future

ImageImage
idiot (left) goes for an easy lay-up after shaking off Cava. The Future (right)
surprisingly, only dunk of the game.

Dec 10 Sat -- Frankie Yan, the smallest players not only among NLSC ballers but among all rookies will go up against 7’0 center in Matthew Cava. In this game, despite a very huge height disadvantage, Yan used his main ability to put up a good fight. Using his speed, Yan found ways to go to the basket and leave his opponent 2 or 3 step behind.

Cava, on the other hand, were unable to take advantage of this match-up. He only tried posting the smaller Yan just a few times. He tried to dribble the ball and shoot jumper with shotclock winding down. Well that kind of gameplan never works for him. Despite the bad offensive game, Cava showed great defense throughout the game.

Cava started the game scoring 2 easy basket. He used his size and strength going to the basket. But Yan tied the game at 2-all, also scoring easy lay-up after shaking off the slower Cava. Yan sometimes beat Cava with his first step or by making a crossover dribble, leaving Cava trying to catch him most the time. That Yan’s play will results either an easy lay-up or a block by Cava from behind. Yan just used the same play over and over again and extended his lead to 7-2. Both players then scored 3 point each to make it a 10-5 count with Yan still leading the game. The last play of Yan was somehow different, he fake going to the right but he goes to the left. But this time instead of going for a lay-up, Yan surprised Cava when he pulls up for a jumper. He made it for an 11-5 win.

Yan will now advance to the 2nd round to face Josh Arbuthnot.

Screenshots from the Game

Yan left Cava behind after a crossover move.
As expected, Cava blocks Yan.

Fabulous dynasty, great job! Just one suggestion: You should learn to use Darko Milicic! You said that he hadn't got good enough skills, but IMO he can score in a lot of different ways...he's a good shooter for a big man, and very quick as well. Try some jump shots with him. At least I love to play with him, he's got an avg of 15 points per game in my dynasty.
