Beluba, one of the producers for the game, said a while ago that tip in dunks will not be in 09. Going off the demo, I would say he is correct.

thas bad.. its an essential part of the game, it was on NBA 07 on PS2, why cant thay continue it on 08, and 09, silly if you ask me

in live 08 it was possible to go for the tip in or putback, it was just hard as hell. i did it once with brandon roy......he jumped grabbed the ball out of the hands of the rebounder and while in the air he made the lay up. i did it with the dunk/lay up button.

i think they still have the lay up putbacks but not the dunks, you gotta time it really well.

By holding turbo and pressing jump you could attempt a putback in 08. The problem was that the ball was never thrown down like a dunk, but jumped off the player's hands like a layup.

We had to cut tip dunks/layups because they weren't ready for primetime yet and were causing some bad side effects.

i thought tip jams were already a part of nba live since live 96. too bad they had to make it more difficult.

They have, though select games in the series have offered more control over them.
