CREATED PLAYER

Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

CREATED PLAYER

I THINK WHEN YOU MAKE A ROOKIE THEY SHOULD PUT THEM IN THE DRAFT. THEN IF YOU PUT YOUR CREATED PLAYER WITH SOME YEARS PRO THEN HE SHOULD BE A FREE AGENT.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK

I doubt it will be in this year's game. Maybe an idea for NBA Live 2010 though.

as long as you aren't allowed to put all 99 on your rookies I think that would be a fair idea.

Created players are a waste of time as far as the game engine is concerned, it just ignores them.
Randy - 'Did you know Earl that before we was humans we was monkeys?'
Earl - 'Hmmm, What were we before we were monkeys?'
Randy - 'I don't know...I don't even remember being a monkey'

I think it would be great if we could enter custom rookies in the Draft or alternatively be able to edit the generated rookies. As far as the placement of created players who aren't rookies, we're already able to place them in the Free Agent pool or the team of our choice, as it should be.

I think that is a great idea, Andrew. I hope it happens for Live '09.

I don't think that created players are a total waste. We can create missing players or create ourselves in the game to play with. I do agree that the game engine does ignore them, but created players do serve a purpose in the game.

Indeed. I'd say there'd be quite an uproar if Create-a-Player was taken out. It's a staple of the genre.

This is off-topic kinda, but does anyone remember if created players have hotspots in Live '08 (PC and console)? If they didn't, I'm sure it will be in Live '09.

They did, but in the case of the PC version you couldn't edit them from within the game.

Andrew,

Do you think that NBA Live (either '09, 2010, or 2011) will ever allow created players start with having the builds of existing superstars like Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Shaq, Yao, etc.? Also, do you think that EA will expand its existing superstar templates available for CAP's?

For example, I'd like my CAP to have LeBron's build with a combination of Lebron's, Kobe's, and Wade's skills.

BTW, thanks for the clarification.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question, but that's pretty much what we've always been able to do.

Really? I always thought that the builds of CAP's was always user-controlled and Live did not have specific superstar builds you can base your CAP's physique on...

Maybe it's me who is misunderstood...

Well, no, you can't choose "Kobe's build" for example in Create-a-Player but you can customise your player's appearance so that he has the same build as Kobe.

Thanks for the clarification. I wish they would put that in as an option for CAP because I'm too damn lazy to take time and do it myself.

Will they ever change the Create-A-Player system ?? Its alaways the same, I think since 2003 its been the same.
They should create a more sophisticated Create Player , like in Tiger Woods series.

The Create-a-Player they use for Tiger Woods is real good, Time will tell though if NBA Live ever gets the CAP system changed or even overhauled.

Hi Andrew,

I just started a new Dynasty in Live '08 (PS3) and I was able to make my player and I even found the body type they used for LeBron.

His build was under "Large 1", so I just copied that and made my player using that build and using LeBron's superstar template as "all-around swingman" for my player's skills.

He looks like Carmelo, plays like LeBron, and is left-handed.

EDIT: I don't play Live '08 anymore for PS3. Just gonna sell it back at Gamestop store and wait until NBA Live '09 and NBA 2K9 come out and get those two games when they come out this fall.

:)

I SAY THEY SHOULD PUT PEOPLES NAMES IN LIKE IN NBA 2K9 INSTEAD OF WHEN YOU SCORE EXAMPLE NUMBER 23 WITH THE ASSIST

Please don't post in all caps, it represents shouting. Thanks.

They do have a list of common names that are automatically assigned when you create a player and give them a name on the list. However, it's surname only so only the commentators use it so the ability to put together first names and surnames from a list would be an improvement.

It wasn't a priority in NBA Live 09, not much has changed from what I saw.
