Will NBA Live 09 be on PS 2

Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

Will NBA Live 09 be on PS 2

Postby dascoot on Mon May 26, 2008 12:38 pm

I want to know if NBA Live 09 will be on PS 2. Why I want to know is this. I would like to be able to see how Rose, Beasley, Hibbert, Greene, Mayo plays. Hopefully if they do have it for PS 2 that they will at least have the first 40-50 rookies on the rosters.

Right now I do believe that the 09 version will be coming out on the PS2. and if it does, we will be sure to mine it for w/e we can use to make 08 better...if there is anything work taking.
Opinions are my own.

That's unlikely to happen. The fact that certain rookies aren't included is not due to EA Sports being lazy or snubbing any particular player. When it comes to the rookies, they simply cannot include anyone who isn't signed by the roster cutoff date (which is set by the NBA, not EA Sports). It's a legal issue, not a producer/programmer issue.

As it's unlikely that 40-50 of the draftees will all be under contract by the cutoff date (which in recent years has been as early as July), the number of rookies included in NBA Live 09 doesn't seem likely to reach that total.

even if you get most of the first rounders that would be great. I am hoping that Rose, Beasley, Mayo, Bayless, B. Lopez, Love, Mayo, E. Gordon, Gallinari, DeAndre Jordan, Arthur, Westbrook, J. Alexander, Augustin, Batum, Hibbert, Speights, Budinger, Greene, R. Lopez, Carlos Douglas Roberts, Brandon Rush, Joey Dorsey. I hope that live will make the cutoff date later so that nearly all the rookies can be in the game.

As I said, it's not up to EA Sports. It's decided by the NBA. If teams are slow to ink deals with their draft picks and the NBA sets an early cutoff then there'll definitely be players missing from NBA Live and NBA 2K, most likely including at least a couple of prominent rookies.

Dascoot,

I'm pretty sure that NBA Live '09 will be out for the PS2 this year. This link confirms it:

Kris is talking about importing animations from the PS2 version of NBA Live 09 to NBA Live 08.

Dascoot,

As Andrew said, who will be in as far as rookies and rosters go depends on whatever the cutoff date will be as set by the NBA. Expect Rose and Beasley to be in both NBA Live '09 and NBA 2K9.

I just got a PS3 the other day and I am playing NBA Live '08 on it. I plan to get NBA Live '09 and NBA 2K9 for it when both games come out later this fall.

Anyway, I am almost 100% sure that the top 2 picks will be in both games. Other than that, it's hard telling really. Besides, Andrew and others will no doubt have many of this year's rookies in future roster updates for NBA Live '08 and NBA Live '07 on the PC.

Right, Andrew?? :) (Y)

That's the plan, to keep a few of the recent PC releases alive with continued updates. After all, there's only so much we can do with the console versions in that regard so we won't be abandoning the PC version even though we will be covering NBA Live 09 as usual.

That's good to hear, Andrew. I'm sure that we all will be looking forward to the after draft rosters with Beasley, Rose, Mayo and the rest of the new rookies.

I always look forward to your rosters because they always work great for me with no problems whatsoever.

Thanks for the kind words. :) The rosters might be coming a bit later as I'm currently looking at updating the rosters for three games; NBA Live 08, NBA Live 07 and NBA Live 06 (as part of the NBA Live PC project). Once I've worked out ratings for the Draft class it does simplify things a bit as I've got some info to work from but it's still a lengthy task.

That's no problem. Whenever it does come out, rest assured a lot of people, including me, will be using it when we play NBA Live on the PC. By the way, Andrew, do you own any consoles? If so, do you also play NBA Live on them???

Yes, I own a 360. I'm mainly a PC player when it comes to Live but I also play it on the console.

Andrew, Hey! Are you working on the 2008 Rosters for 2005? Because i saw that you uploaded your 08 rosters for NBA LIVE 2004 but i just wanted to know if you were working on it for 05?

Thanks!

No, I'm not updating the rosters for NBA Live 2005. I'm not working on an update for NBA Live 2004 either; the rosters I added were made by someone else, not me. I'm looking at doing updates for 06, 07 and 08, nothing earlier. Sorry.

I don't think you can add any extra features to PS2 and PS3/360. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought that the console versions (PS2, 360, PS3) could not be "modded" in any way for use on the consoles.

You can update the rosters (to a certain extent) but that's about it.

IMHO, you would be wasting your money if you purchased this game for PS2. The current consoles and games are HDMI ready. Have you seen these games played in that format? They are clearly created for big screen HiDef. Let’s face it- they’ve got us by the short hairs. You have to breakdown and buy a console to truly enjoy everything this gaming experience has to offer. Anything less is like kissing your cousin. If you've seen these games when played on a 360 or PS3, come on- how can you go back to the PC after witnessing those graphics. Those of you w/out a console, before you buy the PS2 version, just go to a Best Buy and play the game on a next gen console, and then tell me you still want to buy a PS2 version.

Based on the above and the fact that I am also losing my Madden DVD for PC, I think I may just go ahead and finally buy a 360. This would of course require me to re-learn Madden on the controller. Given that Madden is such a complicated game that will be a bitch. Unless you can hook a keyboard up to a 360. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS POSSIBLE? I think I just solved my dilemma.
