Chaser7,

I think that overall, the AI in the game will be improved, including dynasty (hopefully).

I saw the part about Live, and it was very short as they only talked about the Dynamic DNA, which is the groundbreaking feature.

During the game, Bill Walton clowned around a bit-

"That's the first time Kobe Bryant has ever inbounded the ball."
"Perkins get out of the post!"

He sounds like some of the members of this forum. :P

So, they were showing Paul Pierce. He is dribbling the ball and there are a few plays he can choose which are based around the dynamic dna, I believe. They also brought up the hotspots, which look better, and underneath Pierce were arrows that show where he is likely to drive. The cpu player who brought the ball up for the Lakers took a jumpshot both times, in very quick fashion. Derek Fisher from the freethrow line and Lamar Odom at the top of the key after a spin move off KG.

There was also a short post up sequence with KG where he did an up and under "own the paint" move. After the fake, Lamar Odom somehow ended up at the corner of the freethrow line while KG was baseline putting up an awkwardly animated layin where his body seemed to turn in mid air, not unlike some of the animations we have seen around the rim in 08.

There was only 4 possessions shown as most of the time was spent explaining the dynamic dna. They showed it's graphic representation but they didn't go into incredible detail like they have with some of the other EA games.

Hey Pdub,

Is this Dynamic DNA stuff gonna be already in the game when it ships in October or do players have to go online and get it to put in their game?

(I know, dumb question, but I'm curious.)

OMG. This feature is really groundbreaking if executed like they mentioned.

I'm now crying for my PC which will have to live a year without NBA Live 09. It cries too.

Synergy Sports? Impressive by EA to coordinate their efforts with them then.

It definitely has nothing to do with WNBA players.

NBA All-Access is running a contest where you can win a trip for two to Vancouver for a behind the scenes look at the production of NBA Live 09 including a studio tour and an opportunity to watch NBA and WNBA players participate in motion capture sessions and more. More details can be found here.

this was on your main page. Are the motion captures for another game then? Maybe NCAA 09?

One of the Wii previews that has been posted mentioned WNBA players so I'm guessing it's a Wii exclusive. There definitely wasn't any WNBA players in the build of the 360 version that I played and nothing about WNBA players was mentioned during the Event. Since we've been cleared to talk about the ground-breaking feature and it has been revealed during the press conference, you can see I wasn't lying - it has nothing to do with the WNBA.

rdelizo34, from what I have read and heard, Dynamic DNA will be available from last season out of the box, but for the upcoming season you will obiously have to have an online connection with your xbox, unless EA can somehow predict the future. I'm not sure if you will need a gold xbox live account, though. PSN is free, so if you get it for ps3, all you need is a an online connection for it.

I don't see what's so groundbreaking about it. They must have finally got clearance to not require the NBA to approve every roster update so they can do something obvious and have it auto-updated. The only reason I myself didn't put this sort of thing in the game years ago was because the game didn't have any capacity to understand the data. (I'm still not sure EA itself has this capacity.)

EDIT: Oh, I see it's from Synergy. Some of us can't drop $20000+ on such a service.

Now the question is, are the shown "DNA" in the picture the only ones the game uses? Or like people have noted of the ratings the last few years, does it only use three of them and the rest is just for looks? Because a players tendency to go left or right is not something that changes very often, and I don't want my games to "randomly" change as players streak and slump.

I'd really like to know the level of statistical analysis EA is doing.

We were told that an Xbox Live Silver account would be sufficient. Each game is shipped with a code that activates the service, which will complicate things for rentals and second hand sales.
