Try Pro difficulty.

I don't seem to have much trouble shooting a realistic percentage though.

Sure. The CPU shooting over 75% isn't though.

Ditto.

Can you give some specific examples as to why this is true? It would seem to me that the relative difference in gameplay between the two is so small that the time and effort required to learn a significantly more complicated controller set up is not worth it- this is why I ask the for examples; maybe I am missing something. :?

I reckon that a large number of people who say that live is an arcady game don't really know what their talking about. Many just say this because of what they hear from 2K Fans who seem to be much more vocal in praising the game as compared to live Fans.

I used to play 2k games on my dreamcast because iverson was the coverboy back in the day. Then i didnt play console games for several years until last year when i heard how great 2k8 was. ANyway, 2k8 was better than live08 on the ps2 but after i got my xbox360 i didnt think 2k8 was as 'simulation' as people claimed that it was. And i reckon the play calling addition to live 09 has excelled itself over 2k9 this year in terms of simulation.

Honestly i like 2k8 gameplay more than live 09 one.
2k seems to be more realistic. Gameplay is smooth and fits into my playing style perfectly, imo.

What defines arcadey?

The over the top dunks in Live out of the box or being able to dribble like a PG with Eric Dampier in NBA 2K?

IMO having played both games last year sliders were needed to tone down gameplay in both titles.

I think that word simulation is very overated now days in video sports games because I've yet to come accross one (game) of them that was damn near perfect. You can go to any video game site and find hundreds of fans that are displeased with every game out of the box which leads to alterations in gameplay that drastic changes from the default gameplay setup.

2K is way ahead of Live in terms of gameplay. I bought Live 08 just to try out the FIBA tourney and to see if Live's gameplay had improved any. I had always bought Live growing up, but bought 2K7 , because I heard such good things about the 2K series. I am sold on 2K games. I am hoping Live improves gameplay some this year. Just playing Live a little I noticed how horrible the shots of the players look. I thought it was just me so I just watched a little of the computer vs computer game and it was exactly the same. Layups are horrible, many just hit the bottom of the rim. Has the gameplay improved any in the demo?

Exactly. With all the hype surrounding 2K, I was expecting a lot better performance straight out of the box but that wasn't the case. I see why people like it but it's not the game for me, with some exceptions I've usually been able to get the experience I want out of NBA Live. For the geekiest of us, I too don't think the perfect game has been released as yet.
