I remember it in Live 05 but none others

Thu Jul 10, 2008 8:49 pm

It's been in every Live since then...

I have a question. What is the maximum number of players that a team can offer in a trade. Please, don't tell me It's still 3?

Thu Jul 10, 2008 8:51 pm

Thanks for doing the report Andrew, can't wait for Live 09 now.

I have a question, will there be a 'create a team' feature in 09?

Thu Jul 10, 2008 9:47 pm

I'm disappointed that teams like Korea and Japan are in the FIBA listing. There are better asian teams that can be placed in 09. Say for example, Lebanon, Jordan and of course, the Philippines (they can beat Japan anytime, and they are pretty matched up with Korea) and Qatar too. But I do not think that it's all about who's better over the other but for popularity and marketing issues.

and Iran have a higher rating than China?..

Alternate jerseys are in the game. Retro jerseys are not.

Is this the case for every platforms?

Hey Andrew! Show us some photos of the event man! :D

"The reason I'm not going to talk about Dynasty because it's enhanced more, but there's NBDL contracts that you can send your player off to a different league for them to improve."

its this true you can send teams to the nbdl
and can you edit players go-to-moves

Not that I'm aware of. I remember them talking about it being something they'd like to do but I don't remember seeing that option during the demonstration or while I was poking around Dynasty Mode after that.

And no, you can't edit Go To Moves.

NY Project wrote:Thank you so much for your time Andrew. A few more questions and I'm done.

1. Can your players' rating drastically rise/fall during Dynaaty Mode?

2. Can you have less than 8/more than 15 players in the offseason before the season starts?

1. I couldn't spend enough time with Dynasty Mode to say either way. Sorry.

2. No.

joejam999 wrote:Can you tell us more about the "Be a pro" mode?

I've basically said everything already in the report, but if there's anything specific you want to ask feel free to do so. I'm not sure what else I can say about it.

natorindacrib wrote:1. Did you use the Nets in any of your games, and if so, is there the alternate jersey in the game???

2. Do the jerseys look okay? If not, is their anyway anyone on the NLSC can patch them?

1. I didn't use the Nets, sorry.

2. Yeah they look alright, the cloth movements were a bit rubbery but that's one of the things they're currently working on. We can't patch them.

huddy187 wrote:I cant wait to play my hizhornets fazizzle
do tyson chandler have a go to move
he should have one with paul

Andrew anybody played with the hornets?

I played a game with the Hornets. Chandler doesn't have a Go To Move.

Bodz_999 wrote:Thanks for the reply, Andrew! Much appreciated.

EDIT: Would you care to share with all of us your overall impression of the game (even though it's still WIP) and if it's better than any of the series you've played thus far?

I'll be doing that when the embargos on the other stuff is released as they're an important part of it.

Scoop wrote:Just wondering if you checked out the create a player feature and your thoughts on it. The last Live I played was 07 on PS2 and create a player was terrible. Just wondering if it's improved much

Also did you ask whether they were considering adding a career mode to the game eventually?

And finally, do you know how much longer they plan to make the game for current gen (PS2)?

Thanks

Create-a-Player is pretty much the same, though you can assign your player a jumpshot style.

I think they'll probably go to some sort of Career Mode at some point, Be a Pro will probably be the prototype and eventually involve into one. That's just my speculation though, they can't talk about future releases yet.

No idea how long they'll keep doing the PS2 version sorry. None of the guys at the event were members of the PS2 production team.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's still three.

No, unfortunately not.

They might still be in the PS2 version. It wasn't on display at the event so I don't know but judging how it's worked out the past couple of years I'd say it's likely. They won't be in the PS3 version though.

I don't have any, otherwise I definitely would.

Andrew:
Thanks for the reply! It answered the question I wanted to know.

Fri Jul 11, 2008 3:36 pm

1) does dwight howard have a goto move? does amare? could u notice any new goto moves?

2) are all the nba live 08 dunks gone?? if not, which ones are still there?

3) did u get a chance to see computer generated rookies?? do they look the same cause last year, they looked really strange and some looked indiian and asian?

Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:09 pm

They won't be in the PS3 version though.

1. Will the players have voices while they are playing?
(sorry I've never played a nba live in a next gen console)
2.will the players have injury blood(example if a player's nose is hitted by another player's elbow so badly his nose will bleed)
3.is there only a single button to be pressed to perform a sig dunk or if you press the dunk button the player will perform his sig dunk or a normal dunk randomly

I can't say, March Madness isn't released in Australia so I haven't played it.

1. Not really, I didn't have time to go through all 30 teams so I don't have a list of players with Go To Moves. They've done more with signature shots this year than Go To Moves.

2. The dunks have been completely redone.

3. I didn't see, sorry.

1. No.
2. No.
3. There's only the one dunk/layup button.

Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:55 pm

thanks for your quick reply!

another question :
will a player with a sig dunk can do other dunks rather than his sig dunk?
( sorry if this question is silly)

Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:57 pm

Yes, he won't perform the same dunk all the time.

Fri Jul 11, 2008 10:05 pm

will some next gen features can be not available for current gen versions?

Fri Jul 11, 2008 10:55 pm

Yes, that's a given. I don't know which ones specifically or what might make the PS2 version in a watered down state since only the 360 was on display.

In Be a Pro mode can you watch or simulate when your player is taken out?

Sat Jul 12, 2008 3:17 am

1) in the draft, were there actuall rookies or computer generated??

Sat Jul 12, 2008 9:32 am

Can you import draft classes from EA's March Madness game? I know they previously had this option but have since take it out as they don't believe people will use it (maybe because MM was a piece of shit), but they definitely should have it without a doubt.

joejam999 wrote:In Be a Pro mode can you watch or simulate when your player is taken out?

Honestly, I didn't see the player being subbed out so if it's going to evolve into a Career Mode that's something that will need to be addressed. It could just have been the shorter quarter length though.

philipj1224 wrote:1) in the draft, were there actuall rookies or computer generated??

Computer generated. They cannot legally include NCAA players so that won't be happening anytime soon.

No, they haven't brought back that feature. I think that question came up at last year's event and the reason they've avoided doing it is the later release for March Madness.

Any Opt-out options?

Sun Jul 13, 2008 7:23 pm

Your rating (out of 10) for the ground-breaking feature?

Sun Jul 13, 2008 7:37 pm

ginobilli wrote:Any Opt-out options?

No, just the same contract options that have been in the game the last couple of years.

Scoop wrote:Your rating (out of 10) for the ground-breaking feature?

I don't really want to put a number on it, but I'll share my impressions and all the info I took in as soon as I can.

Now that the "ground breaking" feature has been announced; what's your take on NBA Live 09 experience?

Bodz_999 wrote:Now that the "ground breaking" feature has been announced; what's your take on NBA Live 09 experience?

There are still a couple of things I can't talk about just yet, specifically the online features. As far as single player and multiplayer goes, I'm feeling positive. The biggest downers across the board for me were the simulated stats and a couple of other Dynasty quirks, such as the continued lack of the traditional Reorder Roster screen. Otherwise, there's some good stuff in there.

Given that I didn't have much time to play any games against the CPU though, I'm a little concerned that there might be some AI issues but I'm looking for Player DNA and tendencies to have a big impact. I definitely hope that the featured scorer logic will work better than its predecessors, particularly Primacy. It seems like NBA Live 09 will play a good game of basketball but I'm eager to play a demo so I can go mano a CPU, as it were.

The controls were pretty responsive and the gameplay was smooth. There were a few times I didn't quite feel in control but I found when I eased up on turbo it wasn't too bad. Like I said in the gameplay report, that's going to be a bit of an adjustment this year for a lot of players. The first step move/animation when you hit turbo can really interrupt a fast break so you'll need to train yourself to hold down the turbo button when making an outlet or lead pass and generally be conservative with turbo use. It's a learning curve but the NBA Academy is well-equipped to help out there.

At this stage there's still a lot of "ifs" and "hopefullys" but what I saw is really promising. If it all comes together, I think most people will be more than satisfied so again, here's hoping the final product lives up to the promise.
