NBA Live 09 Community Day Q&A

Talk about NBA Live 09 here.

There's a database of common surnames that will automatically be assigned if you create a player with that surname (Smith, for example) but apart from that, no.

The NBA Academy isn't in the PS2 version but according to the official website, it will have an "Enhanced Practice Mode".

Will Players from the nba draft be included in rosters like O.J, D.Rose, K.Love, M.Beasley, R.Westbrook, D.Gallanari, E.gordon, J.Bayless, P.Ewing Jr, N.Jawai. Im not quite shore if they were all signed in cut off date.

Also will Oklahoma city be in the game. will they be called okalahoma city thunder and have the light blue and orange jersey.

You can take a look at all the offseason transactions here. If a signing did not take place before July 15th, that player won't be included in the game. You might also want to look back at the June and July transactions to see which players did make the cutoff date.

Yes, the Thunder will be in the game with their appropriate logos, jerseys and courts.

The PSP version should have the same roster cutoff date. It won't be getting the NBA Live 365 updates.

Would it be possible for the ps3 users to edit a players shoes, head bands etc? I was able to do this on my old xbox from nba live 2004 to NBA Live 2007. When I sold my xbox and bought a ps3. I wasn't able to do this on the ps3.

Since there is NBA Live 365. That means I don't have to update the roster manually. Is NBA Live 365 capable of adding players not included on their roster cut off date?

Yes, we'll be able to edit accessories again this year.

Yes, though I'm told that those new players will have generic appearances when they're first added and will then be fixed in subsequent updates.

I'm not sure of the timeframe of the player specific updates (ie replacing the generic appearance) but the producers have alluded to being able to fix problems within 24 hours. At the very least, the DNA/roster updates should give us placeholder players with reasonable DNA/ratings (that we can edit ourselves) and a generic appearance to fill in while we wait for a new player to be properly added and updated.

No, they're not releasing that information beforehand. We'll just have to wait for the game to come out.

Will there be unsigned draft players after cutoff date in the free agents list e.g. S.Erden.

No. Once again, players signed after the cutoff date cannot be included in the game, either as free agents or on the teams that own their draft rights. If they sign after the cutoff date, they won't be in the default rosters. Players will be added by the NBA Live 365 updates though.

My apologies, I forgot you mentioned you were getting the PS2 version. Unfortunately it does get left out in the cold when it comes to updates.

Far out omitting New Zealand for the game is the biggest mistake they've made. New Zealand has always been a top 24 team if not top 16 team but the only reasons they dont make it into tournaments is cos they only allow one team from oceania into comps. Australia is nearly always going to beat New Zealand in the next few years because they simply have much more talent and are going to be a top 4 team in the near future with Barlow, Ingles, Mills, Newley, Bogut, Ogilvy. These are all potential/current nba players.

New Zealand has a few NCAA and Euroleague players. And are a very good team oriented squad which allowed them to come 4th in Indianapolis (sorry bad spelling) for the World Champs last last time.

its a real shame EA would take teams just because they have a better market for the game such as Japan. All Japan has is Yuta Tabuse, the 5'9'' PG

According to line producer Brian Ullrich, the design was made based on the FIBA world rankings and in an effort to represent as many regions as possible. I guess they thought Australia alone sufficiently represented Ocenia, though leaving New Zealand out is quite a snub and has disappointed a lot of people.

In New zealand they could have had Sean Marks in there roster. Players such as Zydrunas and Peja and Nash playing in rosters. Also Kirk Penney who use to play for the heat, he is good, plays good for NZ Breakers. Also Craig Bradshaw, Pero Cameron, Lindsay Tait, Casey Frank, Nick Horvath, phil jones, tony Rampton. they have a quaility team better then say Japan,Mexico. Korea not bad. They should have put nigeria in instead of Japan and NZ instead of Mexico. Nigeria NBA Quality Such as Olowokandi, Ime Udoku, jeff varem, peter aluma and ebi ere.

Well, as I said they included the different FIBA teams based on the world rankings for 2007 and to try and represent different regions of the world, no doubt giving preference to teams that had a few NBA players. Of course, that still makes New Zealand's omission a little strange given their ranking and the fact they do have a player in the NBA.
