If you click through all the links, you'll see that, no, Madden won the "EA Sports Best Sports Game of E3" award.
2K9 could not be nominated as it did not meet the qualifications for "hands-on playable."

I do not know how many of you are Madden Fans, but it is really an incredible game, and was developed for that saying "Its in the game." The only bad things you can say about its design is: 1) it is extremely complicated, and 2) the AI at the top level is a BITCH.
Madden really appeals to the cerebral crowd- i.e., people that really know football. If you do not know your Xs & Os, you are not going to be successful at the challenging levels; take it from someone who knows.
I am not surprised it won- it is practically not a game.
