We've opened up a Reviews section in our NBA Live 09 subsite, compiling a list of reviews from around the web as well as our own take on this year's game. I've posted my own reviews of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 versions, which you can check out here:

I think anyone willing to give it a go will like it, it's not perfect but it's leaps and bounds ahead of the PC versions we've had the last few years. I can certainly understand people not wanting to give EA their custom though.

Andrew, i should tell you something reality,
Maybe you remember, i was saying i didn't like NBA 2K9's sliding issues and i like NBA Live's footplanting. But i was talking according to videos not gameplay itself.

Well, now i'm playing NBA 2K9, but there are really serious sliding issues. 2K really needs to improve isomotion system, because i sometimes feel like i'm losing control over players and i'm getting bored easily. I'm sure this is not an issue in NBA Live series. Because NBA Live uses footplanting. That's what i like most about NBA Live.

On the other hand, NBA 2K9 really mimics real NBA. Cuz animations are so much lifelike. When i watch some NBA Live clips, i feel like i'm watching 10 robots playing a ball game.

So the only thing NBA Live must do is, adding more and more animations and improve them or changing the game engine completely.

I hope both games come along with complete online/multiplayer support next year. There we'll face some tight competition.

Converting to 2K9. So watch out!

I don't think NBA Live needs to change its game engine completely, I think it's come along on the platform and plays pretty well, though there's still room for improvement. The footplanting does give some heft to the players but that takes some getting used to, especially when you're attempting a block or rebound since players need to gather themselves. Timed properly it's not really so much of an issue.
