Lack of resources for porting the PC version by 2ksports, I guess. Lack of resources for servers and customer service, projected necessity of a patch for a version of the game that isn't a high priority which would require time, resources, and money. Another guess would be the problems that plague the xbox360 version of 2k9's multiplayer would have been just as bad or even worse on the pc version.

I would have liked a direct ip connection at the very least, but the only thing that comes close to multiplayer is the VIP profile feature. When you use your user profile while playing games, your tendencies and stats are recorded in your profile. You can share this profile with others and thye can play an exhibition game with your user profile selected as the computer team. The cpu will play to the tendencies in the selected profile. So I guess it's like an offline multiplayer. I'm not sure how well the feature works, as I have seen some weird bugs like a player dribbling until the shot clock goes down and then shooting. Although, it does play alot different than the normal cpu ai.

You need someone to send you their user profile file. You put it in the saves directory for 2k9 along with your other saves. You start 2k9 and press the rebound button at the quick play screen to bring up the game settings and load their VIP profile for VIP playback as either the home or away team. You select the opposite team and play.

Indeed. That's a good idea. (Y)

We can also seperate them as:
Sim Profiles
Fast Pace Profiles
Arcade profiles
.

.
etc...

Well, it depends on how well it works. I was eating one time so I watched a game of my profile against the cpu, and there were some occurrences where the pg would dribble out the shot clock and shoot at the end, not sure why. It's possible because I haven't selected enough plays as a user and just go with the automatically called plays.

Oh. If CPU recognizes those plays as playing exactly until the buzzer, it's not good. But better than nothing.

Where can some of these player profiles be found? Anyone willing to send some to me? fjccommish@gmail.com

I guess you could also play against the AI with your own profile loaded for it.

BTW, this is called asynchronous online play, playing against something that was played at an earlier time.

That's really what EA's Player DNA comes out to be, tendencies for the players established by earlier play, in that case not in a game but in real life.

This really is a pretty amazing feature. Yes there are times when the AI dribbles until the clock expires, but I found that normally happens when the profile game time doesn't match the game time for the game (i.e. profile is for 5 min quarter games attached to a 9min quarter game.)

It's possible to set a profile for a team, say the Cavs, and then they play like I want the Cavs to play with LeBron being aggressive.

Problem is this isn't available in an association.

i didn't check in my 2k9 association but i remember in 2K7 you could edit player tendencies, if you want them to shot mid range, or 2s more frequently, if you want them to score from triple threat position, backdown defenders, drive, e.t.c
They say "b!tc#" is the new black, well i say black is the new president b!tc#.

Yes but superstars on the computer run team don't play like superstars, or the teams don't treat them like superstars. They don't get the ball enough, they don't take control.

Down 4 points in an NBA finals game, the Lakers never gave the ball to Kobe. Their point guard took wild three's rather than get the ball to Kobe. Close and late is when a superstar should take control.
