if i replace the power supply will that melt the components in my cpu
lol well forgive for being a newbie but talking to the people at dell they said buy upgrading my power suplly it would blow up my cpu lol that hardly makes sense to me maybe im wrong but im sure if i had a proper cooling source it should keep any unforseen tragedys from happening im just wondering where would i get one from and ithe bestbuy near me doesnt sell the size that i need as i have a slim case i dont even know what the power supply for a slim case like mine looks like. do you know where i can get one for a good priceel badman wrote:if i replace the power supply will that melt the components in my cpu
Not too sure what you mean by that, but basically you seem to already know the answer: you cannot possibly keep using a 250W PSU with a system like that. You need to purchase a better one (500W or more I would say), otherwise your components will not have enough juice to properly run, especially your video card if you do install it. You will keep getting crashes, lockups and visual glitches if you do not upgrade your power supply.
This type of PSU should not be too expensive these days.

This is also a good card to buy since its price is only
4k +
Haha, that's no big deal but now I understand better. When it comes to Dell, you might as well talk to your toaster if you want some tech advice, those people are braindead.
If they are properly working, your components only take the juice that they need from the PSU. You can buy a 1200W PSU if you want, it's not gonna blow them up or melt them...it will be utterly useless because you'll never need that much power, but it wouldn't hurt your system in any way.
Just get a 500W PSU and you'll be fine.
EDIT: I would have recommended newegg.com to get one, but if you have such a small case, you may need to see one right in front of you to see if it will fit, so Best Buy, CompUSA or Circuit City I guess. But really, you'll probably need to get a larger case.
so basically once i order a case from new egg for example do u think i can have bestbuy switch my components out of my dell case into the new case as i dont know how to take cpus apart myself but im learning everyday
