Help with button icons for old 2K games

I'm sorry if this isn't allowed here, but the other forums for older 2K games are all but dead. I was going back to play the first 2K games on PC, 2K9 and 2K10, and the only issue is that they lack proper controller button icons. This isn't a huge deal in menus, but this does become problematic ingame when trying to use icon passing. Fortunately there were some old mods created to remedy the issue with xbox button icons, but they both have the center position icon as "LT" when the button should be "LB". Yes in more modern games it is "LT", but with a lack of control over button assignments (using the center as "LT" would require setting "RB" as sprint for instance), this becomes a problem

I would like to fix the issue myself and re-publish the mods, but I am unable to edit the ".iff" files. I tried downloading the old NBA 2KX mod tool but cannot get it to run after selecting the proper game/year. I have tried various java installations but can't get the tool to launch, so I am stuck.

Is there anyone with some experience who can help modernize this mod? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!

The mod for 2K10 is a mega link because it would not let me attach this file for some reason. Maybe it's too large?
