Recording with Fraps (on Live)

Postby Skills on Wed Apr 16, 2008 7:59 am

I hope this is in the right section..
Anyway, can somebody help me out?
I'm trying to record videos with Fraps on Live 08.
I hit the Capture Hotkey and everything.
But the video doesn't save. (to designated folder)
What am I doing wrong?

Can you see the framerate in one of the four corners of the screen? Try pressing F12 or F11 to display/move the framerate. Once it is visible, then use the capture hotkey. I don't know any other reason it wouldn't record.

You can also try changing your hotkey. I always use the "0" on the keypad.

Try a different version of fraps or a different driver for your video card.

What are your computer specs?

Here are the specs I know of:

Intel Pentium III Processor
930MHz, 256MB of RAM

I don't really know how to find the other specs. :P

That's a pretty old computer. It may not be powerful enough to record.

I can only offer these suggestions as to what I would do.

Make sure no background programs are running.
Lower the graphic settings of Live, especially the resolution.
Make sure you are capturing to "half resolution" in fraps.
Try turning off the audio capture of fraps.
Try a different version of fraps.
Try a different videocard driver.
Try a different capture program.

pentium III, wow.

Time for a Dual-core skillmatic :P

Let us know if it doesnt work, low resolution should probably do it for you, if not, chances are you won't be able to do it.
as I look at life through my rear view, i see all the potholes i had to steer through.
