On the main page, I wrote:Pastapadre got his advance copy of NBA Live 08 today and has already managed to post a full game. The game is between the Houston Rockets and the Seattle Supersonics on the superstar difficulty with 8 minute quarters. Here's the link to his blog post with the videos.

nice good block animation by yao ming

It is a nice looking game overall, but the dunk and the shots are like on speed! They just don't look fluid. The graphics are nice, but I don't know... It looks like the overall consensus for this game is going to be that EA is headed in a good direction, but has a lot of work to do in a year's time. A LOT of work. It's a pretty game though, for whatever the hell that is worth.

Personally, I'd rather have good fluid animations with current gen graphics. That would suit me fine...

The introduction thing was pretty nice, and the little ramble at tip off was fairly amusing as well.

Instant replay seems fairly glitchy though.

So is this the 100% fully completed game?

I hope not because the animations seem a little glitchy.

Once again.. i don't think its that bad, i just wanna know one thing though.. will teams play like there real life counterparts, are the suns gonna fast break and pick n roll ?? is Kobe gonna take a trillion shots and blame the loss on his team mates??

LOL @ Yao Ming before getting the ball.. 2nd quarter 6:35 video

How come the AI only passes the ball once per possession on average.

They usually take the whole shot clock too, a lot of catch and shoots, AI is unimpressive except on fast breaks.

In case anyone's wondering, I'll be posting my impressions once I get my copy, which will probably be a bit later since I'm in Australia.

the tip off with yao ming at the beginning looked a bit awkward...

That's about the nicest way to describe the tipoff.

Replays are horrible.
Players look stiffy out there, not overwhelmed with AI either. Also Billups looks kinda thin, i thought he could be more bulkier.Great graphics though.
Oh, yeah, go to moves video is here:

I'm concerned about the lack of cpu auto subbing, which I understand was a bug last year and one of the reasons I didn't buy. Having watched the vids using 5min quarters we don't see the cpu subbing - yet I'm sure I did while watching some demo videos (I haven't the demo). Pasta said he's playing on default settings so hopefully some slider tinkering will sort this out - I really hope so as this won't be good news.

i'm sure they have a slider for it in the game after last year's fiasco. after playing the demo, i can say that in a 4 min half, Tony Parker gets subbed out every time at least once or twice in the half and Finley does occasionally.

Thanks Qballer..I was sure I'd seen this happen on the demo vids...fingers crossed it's all ok...UK release is Oct 5th for 360 (at the moment.. so keeping everything crossed for that one!)

NBA Lives lighting is the worst to ever be in a basketball game, literally. Every single court, EVERY ONE, has the first like 3 rows lightened up and the rest is just pitch black. The lakers use the "Lights Method" in real life, but even their lighting is not as darkened as Lives. In my opinion, this just lowers the atmosphere of the game TREMEDOUSLY. If your in the 4th quarter, down by a point, and have the ball for the last shot, you should SEE the crowd cheering and clapping and standing up out of their seats. 2k8 does a very good job with this aspect of the game. Does anybody agree with me on this one?????
