I think they darkened crowd purposely, to distribute more graphical power onto players and courts.I remeber reading it from Arenas' blog, he said that was his idea.I dont really care that much.
What i dont like is a lack of reaction from announcers and crowd when you hit buzzer beater.Nothing happens, not even a replay, no comments from Kerr/Albert, you just go the the standard ending quarter animation. That is so annoying to me, it has been present in Live series so long, and they cant even notice and change it.

ehh when I hit a buzzer beater, I usually make my own comments.

I beat my roommate in 2k7 tonight with a 3 at the buzzer from Peja 8-)

Where did you read that? If that's the case then that's changed since the build at the Community Day.

The tip-off animation sucks.. Too quick. Also the shooting..

Watched the USA-Germany full game. First block by no. 13 from germany and i closed the video.. Horrible animation IMO...

And what's up with this?

And that Seattle-Rockets game - 8 ming quarters and total ~50 points.. They shot about 20% from the field..

Not too exited about the game..

I'm worried about the less auto substitution that I read from OS (Operation Sports) like.. "- Implementation of subs leaves much to be desired (autosubs are too infrequent, even with fatigue turned all the way up; also, if you try to manually sub with autosub on, the ai will override your changes, which is VERY annoying...and if you try to play with autosubs off, you won't be able to sub during free-throws/dead balls)" . But still hes lucky. He got the copy before the release date. lol

For using the Go-to-Moves in-game, will the system/computer automatically adjust the speed/do just part of the animation if there is not enough time to do the full animation.

For example, if the Nuggets had the ball with a second left in a close game, it doesn't seem like sufficient time for Carmelo (if he's already in the post) to take a couple dribbles and shoot. So will the animation shorten/cut-off smoothly so that you have a chance at the shot? Or will the animation keep playing until the buzzer has sounded, and will not give you a chance to shoot at all?

Sat Sep 29, 2007 11:13 am

Maybe, but most people would just shoot rather then use the go-to move, i mean, thats what i would do.

The more gameplay footage I see the less I want this game...It feels so artificial, and it is getting annoying that the crowd was darkened, because the arena just feels so flat, and has no athmosphere at all!

Player locomotion and animations are off I think, they are a bit robotic, and signature shots were nothing close to the real ones except KD35's J.

Dunks are just simply fakes! the way Yao dunked the ball is unbearable!

The only thing I liked is the graphics and cyberfaces of players! those are well done!

To sum it up, I must admit after seeing footage of 2k8, that LIVE is a far cry from 2k. It just feels that the developers at 2k are competent basketball addicts compared to the guys at EA!

Though we have to respect that EA realised that they need to do something urge and major to keep themselves in the game!

Gameplay footage...seriously.

Who makes final decisions based on footage of a game they never played?

At least play a demo or something.

I guess gameplay footage is enough to make an impression! I know I haven't played it, and don't know how it feels, but as you can see I did NOT write anything about how reactive the game is, and how it feels to play! I only wrote my impression on the graphics and the gameplay animations and those won't change when you play the game either!

not a single gameplay video has ever impressed me, but the games (depends which live) turn out pretty good when played. This vid looks decent...better than previous i've seen.

NOT AGAIN:::::::

I noticed that the cpu doesnt sub. I mentioned something similar after the second game I posted up. On default settings and five minute quarters fatigue doesn’t seem to come into play much if at all. I had auto-subs on and it never did one the whole game. I’m sure it is something that can be tinkered with.

the thing with fatigue is this:

in real life Kobe, KG and the other stars play around 35 MPG and some even 38 MPG.....which means they sit for about 13 to 10 minutes per game respectively. In the demo the cpu subs around the halftime mark and i guess it's the same with the real game.
We are gamers and like to play with the whole squad so that's why we get annoyed if the cpu doesn't sub much, cause we end up playing the starters a lot.

last year the damn players fatigue meters got down and they stayed down for some odd reason even on the bench.

I didn't really play live 07, though. Played it for 2 weeks then went back to playing live 06 in a league.

Mon Oct 01, 2007 2:14 am

I turned up the fatigue in the demo and cpu is subbin out players in the 2 min quarters

Mon Oct 01, 2007 3:12 am

I played a bit the game on PSP and it was awful....But,hey....What do i understand of NBA Live....

Mon Oct 01, 2007 3:54 am

Live really looks a bit too artificial ... like those double teams, its always like they dont get the ball and the player who got doubled kicks it out to his wide open teammate who has easy two points.

From what I saw, Ima get 2k8 ... its just not that artificial and predictable, but the animations have a flow and it seems like you do not know what will happen next.

But Im just talking, I aint got an xbox yet anyway ;)

I must have missed that question. However, your original post implied that the Edit Player feature had been removed completely which obviously isn't the case. The fact we cannot edit absolutely everything is nothing new, though it's a shame we can't edit the accessories. Perhaps it will be a different story with the PC version.

don't want to restart the silly war between 2K and live fan...

but after playing for the first time to nba live 08 AND nba 2k7 just about in the same time (cause i just get a xbox 360), i found that 2K is (sadly) years ahead of nba live in term of animations, ball physics and fun gameplay...years ahead.... live looks not real at all, 2K7 (not a perfect game though) has that real feelings that makes you smile large..

for example in 2K, the ball can rebound on the feet, the arm, the leg or the back of your opponent or your teammate, the ball has life indeed !!
On the contrary, in live, the ball seems to have a scripted life, no suprises, always the same events that occured...

sorry for being phylosophical but you get the point...

Well, although I havent played 2k yet (I hope I can afford an xbox 360 for christmas) I know what you mean. And do you know why ?
It has been the same thing with FIFA and PES .. in FIFA everything was kinda like scripted and there were no things like you shoot the ball and hit the post and then the ball hits the keepers back and jumps in. (like in PES)

And I think its exactly the same from what I saw in the videos. While in live you get doubleteamed and you end up in a freaky animation which is just like "pass the ball early enough to escape" , in 2k8 it looks just real, like anything could happen.

I may get live for the PC from the videostore for 2-3 days and try it out, but from what I heard about the PS2 version, I wont buy it ...
