yeah, I think IGN is dumb, gamespot is a lot more accurate (I do not think 2k8 is a 8.5 though, I'd say it's more of a 8.0 --- it has bugs and the animations are predetermined and foot planting is whack in 2k)

IGN rated NBA 08 7.5 btw (live only 6.9), there's NO way nba 08 is even close to nba 2k8 or live 08, and gamespot rated them more correct IMO, 5.0 (nba 08), 7.5 (live 08), 8.5 (2k8, a bit overrated IMO, they fixed the faces, but the rest of the graphics are worse than 2k7, no sweat, and lower poly counts ---- and there are some gameplay bugs this year too, and some animations are slower than others in 2k8, so you're doing a move like crossover, etc but the defense recovers quicker because the animation is slower than the actual game!)

I'm going to buy live 08 on ps3 probably tomorrow (i think 2k8 is good, the games play totally different, I don't like the auto-pilot animations in 2k8, the animations aren't snappy and it can get frustrating, live feels like you have more control over your players which I like, in 2k it seems automatic)

I like gamespot's review though, I think it's pretty spot on.

This portion of IGN's review was most telling. They mentioned that once again, superstars didn't take over games late. Guys like Kobe and LeBron won't burn you in the 4th quarter of close games.

Playing NBA is like playing a team of manikins who kind of play basketball. Some of them have moves that look similar to moves real NBA players make, but none of them play like stars, or simulate a desire to win.

I wish EA would put less time into making the guys look like NBA players, and more time into making them play like professional basketball players.

I'd rather have a star "Kelby Brian" take over the game and drop 18 in the 4th quarter, than see Kobe Bryant shoot an occasional shot that looks like the real Kobe's.

I'd rather see "Diesell O'Nelly" get touch after touch in the paint, dominating inside, forcing me to double and triple team, than see Shaquille O'Neill touch the ball three times in a game while putting up a hook that looks like the real Shaq's.

The problem with IGN is that each game is reviewed by different people. If the guy reviewing Live 08 reviewed NBA 08, he would've given it something in t he realms of a 6 and maybe 2K8 in the 7.5s. The guy reviewing NBA 08 would've given higher scores to both Live 08 and 2K8. They need some sort of basketball expert.

they dont even hav a franchise mode
