Well, the PC version hasn't come out yet so we don't know.

Assuming that the PC version once again has the exact same controller configuration as the PS2 version when it comes to dual analog gamepads, it might not be necessary since "back down" is assigned to a shoulder button as well as the right analog. You still need to hold down the right analog for a defensive stance but the PS2 version also includes the Defensive Assist feature on a shoulder button.
