REVIEW: NBA Live 2008 for PSP

it's the same as 07 except "updated" rosters which aren't even updated ie. same rating as the previous year rating. for example, chris weber is still rated 88 overall just like he was in 07.. lol and the miami heat has a rookie named d.cook who is rated 85... only 4 points lower than shak! lol and for comparison purposes durant and oden are rated 77 and 79 respectively. and there is NO joakim noah in the game at all.. infact no bulls rookie. also the rookie center on the nets is rated 84! haha this is so r3t4rded i cant believe it. plz dont buy this game i warn you you will regret it. its the same as 07 and if you have kept it updated yourself no need to buy 08 as its really just roster updated version of o7.

Not to be rude or anything, but most of the people on this forum....care about the PC version and not the PSP...soo it doesn't affect me at least...cause i won't be playing the psp version.

the roster will be the same in every game though so it should affect your feelings. chris weber rated 88 makes him as the best player on the pistons and the pistons unbeatable. this is a complete joke.

The Pistons have 15 roster spots full though, so they have to decide to cut Flip Murray or Webber can't be signed.

Um, no. A team can go into training camp and the preseason with far more than 15 players. The Pistons currently have 17 on their roster. Since they have a number of unguaranteed contracts, I'm sure they would get the boot rather than eating Murray's $2 million.

Considering that I (A) live in Detroit and have been a Pistons fan for 20+ years...

1. Yes the Pistons can go into training camp with more than 15 players, but it would be irrelevant since they have to start the season at 15.

2. The Pistons are going into camp with 16 players, and ronald dupree and rookie Sammy Mejia are competing over the final reserve swingman spot. Unless Webber somehow learns to play small forward, they won't cut both of them for him.

Assuming Rip, Chauncey, Prince, Wallace, McDyess, Maxiell, Amir Johnson, Rodney Stuckey, Arron Afflalo and Jarvis Hayes are all locks to stay with the team, that makes 11 spots accounted for.

That leaves:

Mohammed- $25 million left on his deal, no way he gets released

Chieck Samb- Dumars's rookie pet project center, already pegged to spend the season in the D-league. No way he gets released.

Lindsey Hunter- Already guaranteed a front office spot after the season, they won't be cutting him.

That's 14.

Flip Murray has only one year left on his deal, and he's the only guy the Pistons don't have strong ties to. If anybody goes, it's him.

And enlighten me on the "number of unguaranteed contracts" we have, because last I checked, we had exactly 16. No Matter what, we ALREADY have to release a guy with a guaranteed 2008 contract. If Webber comes back, we'll have to release two.

I didn't include Fitch because he's training camp fodder. No chance to make the team, no guaranteed contract.

Either Dupree or Mejia will be released to cut the roster down to 15. They will not cut both for Webber and leave themselves thin at the swing position.

Again, Flip Murray is the odd man out. He can't play SF, and the Pistons have plenty of players that can play the 2.

for the 3rd time: They might cut Dupree, and they might cut Mejia. They will not cut BOTH.

The Pistons need another reserve swingman aside from Afflalo and Hayes. They can't afford to cut both guys to sign a center.

Murray isn't a swingman, he's a combo guard. And the Pistons are well stocked at that spot.

From a personnel standpoint, if anybody extra gets released, it'll be Murray. Its more likely Dumars keeps Murray and wait to unload Mohammed via trade so he can replace a center with another center.

If Webber ever does come back, I wouldn't expect it to be until november at the earliest.

Alright, we're assuming they get Webber. We agree they will cut Fitch. That leaves them at 17. You say Mejia/Dupree and Murray. I say, the two cheaper contracts, Mejia AND Dupree. Prince already plays 70+% of the minutes at the small foward, Johnson will get more minutes, and there's Hayes. Murray played plenty of minutes last year alongside Hamilton.

If they cut Murray, then whatever they pay Webber, they add $2 million to it.

Yes, the Pistons do not need to play Dupree/Mejia, but they will leave themselves vulnerable if Hayes or Prince gets hurt, which is why the idea of releasing them both hasn't even been brought up by Dumars.

Murray makes a whole $1 million more than Dupree. It's not like they are worlds apart.

I used to play nba live on my old xbox but since they don't make games anymore for the xbox i sold it and later both a Sony PSP. So you can edit players on the PSP version? I wanna confirm this information first before buying this game. Thanks.

FYI, In NBA Live 08 for the 360, Webber is rated a 77, so no, they don't all have the saem ratings.

Just got the game, and I love it! Spent about 45 minutes manually updating the rosters before playing my first game. Some of the rookie ratings I find odd, but oh well. And no, you can't edit players, which sucks especially because some players numbers need to be changed after you manually update the rosters... for example, I put Smush Parker and Penny Hardaway on the Heat, and now there's 3 players on the Heat wearing #1. Houston Rockets is like that, too... after signing Steve Francis, both him and McGrady are wearing #1.

No, you cannot create players on PSP. The "Roster Management" menu has the following: Stats Central, Reorder Rosters, Trade Players, Sign/Release Players, Reset Rosters. That's it.
