The Boston Celtics have just announced that after a promising offseason of retooling the roster for another run at the Larry O'Brien Trophy after taking the eventual champions Miami Heat to Game-7 of ECF, they have hired a new special adviser Jaswant Singh out of India. This move comes as a bit of surprise as they select a completely unknown guy to work at their front office. His role, although not exactly clear, would be in coaching advisory as well as transactions.

Image

Danny Ainge, President of basketball operations of Boston Celtics had this to say, "He is an extremely brilliant kid with bright future. We are just counting on him to learn under Doc (Rivers) and possibly take over the reins down the road after he decides to hang it up. That being said it is a long way down the road and in the mean time we just want him to soak up all the knowledge he can working under Doc and learning his ways."

Image

Doc Rivers, Coach of Boston Celtics(who seemed uncannily happy) said, "He provides a new perspective to this organisation. After working with him during summer and preseason this was more of a formality to give him an official contract and we welcome this kid into Boston Celtics family."

When asked what he hoped to achieve, Mr. Singh said,"I just hope to help this team towards the championship. This team has the perfect mix of veterans, young guys and hustle players and we believe we can compete with anybody in this league."

No major changes or blockbuster trades are expected but in NBA, you can never be too sure.

Final Thoughts

Player of the Game-----D.Wade - 41pts-5rbs-8ast-1stl-2blk and other general dissection of Boston Defense

The game started with heat playing red hot and controlling most of the game except the second quarter run by the Celtics.

Lebron had a bad shooting game(20pts/10rbs/7ast/10 of 25 shooting) while Wade(41pts/5reb/8ast) and Bosh(25pts/14rbs) turned into monsters.

Barbosa had a decent overall game(19pts/3rbs/3ast/3stl) while single handedly controlling the game in the second quarter.

Green started good early in the first quarter and faded out over the course of the game(17pts/3rbs/4ast)

Rondo had the best game out of every Celtic(17pts/4rbs/10ast/2stl/2blk) while trying for a run in the 4th quarter

KG(10pts/3rbs) and Pierce(8pts/2rbs/1stl) were most disappointing while Terry(2pts/2rbs) and Lee(0pts/2rbs/2ast/2stl) were let downs too.

Sullinger had a decent first NBA game(4pts/7rbs) and McGrady did what was expected of him(6pts/2ast/1reb/3 of 3 shooting).

Celtics go home with a disappointing start to their season.

Look Forward to the next Game.

Nice coverage. Actually quite interesting that you are doing the coach thing. Maybe some slider tweaks are needed, you got absolutely destroyed on the boards, but not sure if tweaking the user ones affects your team if you are just coaching :?

Great start! This is def worth following! I have some suggestions though, you might want to download Jao's watermark replay remover. Also use uniform sizes.

Anyways, this is really great! Been waiting for a Celts association.

I agree, this is one worth following. And the uniform sizes would really make the presentation better.

Final Thoughts

Image

Player Of The Game: R.Rondo -- 11pts/3reb/14ast/3stl

Wizards played good in the first but it was downhill from there.

Their top scorers were highly inefficient(B.Beal--12/30, J.Crawford--9/22), and they failed to take advantage of their big frontcourt, Getting out-rebounded 43-40.

Celtics started slow but EXPLODED in the second quarter for 40 points and never looking back.

Surprisingly they had a 43-40 Rebounding ADVANTAGE, shot 51% from the field, 61% from 3 and 94% from freethrow.

Celtics bench came up big, outscoring Wizard's bench by 53-20.

R.Rondo(11pts/3reb/14ast/3stl) played well, setting up teammates, picking off passes, scoring some points. Overall a good game.

J.Green(20pts/4reb/3ast) played as the first option with pierce having a bad game and fit right in.

C.Lee(16pts/5reb/1stl/1blk) played mainly off spot on passes from Rondo on spot-ups and cuts. Nice bounce back performance after poor last game.

K.Garnett(15pts/9reb/1stl/1blk) had a decent game and provided the defensive precence on some drives.

L.Barbosa(11pts/3ast) played well in his role as a scorer/ball handeler off the bench.

P.Pierce(12pts/3reb/1stl/1blk/3-16 shooting) looked every bit of a 35 year old player. he failed to make a basket in the first half when he was made to create his own shot, but made some spot-up 3s off Rondo feeds. I suspect he might be in a slump.

J.Sullinger(10pts/11reb) had a good game in his first NBA start, providing some size up front taking the rebounding load off KG.

T.McGrady(8pts/1reb/2ast) had a decent game scoring some points, getting some assists, handling the ball with Rondo on bench.

Everybody else had OK game.

Celtics win a game they expected to win and gave some rest to their older players(KG-23min, Pierce-25min)

Next they return to Boston to take on the Wizards again.

Look forward to the next game

Final Thoughts

Player Of The Game: Bradley Beal --- 33pts/8reb/6ast/2stl

Wizards played great Controlling Boards(55-46), getting turnovers(6-9) and running on the break(18-9).

B.Beal(33pts/8reb/6ast/2stl) played like a potential superstar scoring at will and doing whatever he wanted.

J.Crawford(29pts/3reb/11ast/1stl) showed he is an underrated passerand an Inefficient scorer(11/28).

Celtics bench palyed good (35pts), but there was no 40 point quarter to save them this time around. A 3rd Quarter run by Wizards blew the game open and they just couldn't recover

P.Pierce(24pts/5reb/2ast) started bad but picked his game up as it went along.

K.Garnett(22ts/5reb1ast/1stl1blk) Played consistent and, like Pierce, Picked up his game late game but it was too late.

R.Rondo(7pts/9reb/12at/2stl) unfortunately cable T.V. Rondo showed up tonight, scoring 0 points by the half and generally not intrested in getting the win.

FAB-FREAKIN-MELO(10pts/3reb) was a huge revelation scoring 10 pts and 3 Offensive Rebounds in 5 MINUTES.

J.Sullinger(8pts/5reb/3ast) played decent grebbing some boards, making some shots.

L.Barbosa(8pts/1reb/1ast) made 0/5 shots, getting 8 points in freethrows.

J.Green(6pts/8reb/2ast) played average game and failed to do anything out of the ordinary.

Everyone else had a forgetable game.

Celtics fall (2-2) in a game they were heavily favoured to win (especially after last game).

Next up they have a home game against the Sixers.

Look forward to the next game.

Great recap and all, but try to highlight only the important plays IMO. It would shorten it.

Anyways, I like how Rondo's becoming a lob machine for Green. Thunder fans still ain't forgettin Uncle Jeff! (Y) (Y)

I actually think I have to disagree with Durant35 here, I like the recap style, it is something a little different (apart from drghost's) if anything, perhaps put the play by play in "[code]" tags to tidy it up a little and that would allow the Quarter summaries to stand out a little more. Dunno. I like it either way (Y)

I try to screenshot the important plays(and Allyoops) and bold and color the moderately important plays to be easily recognizable but Thanks for the input.

I think Rondo always wanted an athletic wing on the team to throw lobs to, like he was reported to want Rudy Gay or Josh Smith on the team.
Also he said in an interview with B/R that he wanted Dr.J as his legend teammate.

So Green and Rondo fit perfectly I guess.

I think I'll start to highlight end of quarters more as I've noticed they are not as easily recognizable now that you mention it.

Final Thoughts.

Image

Player of the Game: P.Pierce - 33pts/4reb/3ast/0To 14-26 shooting

76ers (and by 76ers, I mean J.Holiday) controlled the boards as expected(52-43), and exploited the points in paint(72) but could not defend the Celtics as they shot 54% from the field.

Boston Celtics score nicely 54/27/88% and Defended well 44/33/77% which caused them to come out as winners despite having a big rebounding disadvantage.

P.Pierce(33pts/4reb/3ast/0To) once again came through for his team. The Truth put the team on his back anytime 76res made a run and steerd them through.

J.Green(14pts/9reb/1ast/1stl) was a good complimentary scorer to Pierce. Picking his spots on scoring, he turned his attention to rebounding.

K.Garnett(14pts/5reb/3ast/1blk) gave exactly what you expect out of him, Make a few shots, grab a few boards, drop a few dimes, defend the paint.

R.Rondo(12pts,2reb,9ast,4stl) helped the celtics gain control early and then, with his team up, went into cruise mode hopping up at random passes to grab a few steals.

J.Sullinger(4pts/10reb) gave what was expected out of him, although he made only 2 shots, he attempted only 4.

C.Lee(8pts/4reb/3ast/2stl/2blk) had an off shooting night missing 3 3-pointers early in the first before making one(goingt 3-11 overall, 2-7 on 3s), but he did other stuff to help out, especially guarding J.Richardson.

T.McGrady(9pts/1reb/1blk) along with L.Barbosa(8pts/2reb4ast) were the primary ball-handelers and scorers off the bench.

B.Bass(8pts/4reb/2blk in 9min) was efficient off the bench and hit the Off board hard(3 Orebs).

F.Melo(2pts/2reb/1blk in 4 min) is showing signs of development and may break regular rotation by the end of the year.

J.Terry(2pts/1ast) is given the free pass as he was hobbled by a twisted ankle and still contributed for 6 min.

C.Wilcox(0 across the board) was forgettable(Literally).

Boston gets a win against a division rival for the home fans before starting theit 2 game road trio starting tommorow against the Bucks.

Look forward to the next game.

Final Thoughts

Image

Player of the Game : J.Green - 30pts/3reb/1ast/3stl/1blk

Bucks have to be disappointed with the loss as they totally controlled the boards(55-36overall, 20-6 Off. Boards) but coulden't control the ball giving up too many turnovers.

Celtics played like a well oiled machine Getting Steals(12-2) and forcing Turnovers(15-4) to run the break(14-10).

They shot well(54/50/70%) and defended better(49/44/73%) and made it a blowout.

J.Green(30pts/3reb/1ast/3stl/1blk) played like the scorer he was expected to be when the Celtics traded one of their favourite players. He attacked the hole early and often on one end and contained their best Offensive player on other.

R.Rondo(19pts/4reb/12ast/3stl/1blk) Played like a franchise player should play, controlling the offense, making plays for himself and others and playing suffocating defense(Jennings shot 6/16, 3 stl).

P.Pierce(18pts/3reb/6ast/2stl) showed why he is still the Celitcs 1st Offensive option as he can create for off the dribble for himself and others

K.Garnett(14pts/4reb/2ast/1stl/1blk) played good defense, bothered shots and made a few buckets when he got the chance.

L.Barbosa(15pts/1reb/1stl) was good as the primary scorer and ball handeler off the bench.

J.Sullinger(6pts/8reb/1ast/1stl) was a big help on the boards ina game where Celtics were beaten badly in that department.

C.Lee(10pts/4reb/2ast) made some open shots, helped on the boards and defended well.

T.McGrady(2pts/4reb) was decent as a complimentary ballhandeler/rebounder off the bench.

J.Terry(4pts/1reb/1ast/1stl) despite the injury posted a respectable stat-line.

Everyone else had forgettable game.

Celtics grab a win on the road to start this 2-game road trip.

Next up they play against a recovering D.Rose-less Chicago Bulls.

Look forward to the next game

He has been great for us right off the heart surgery too. And the Thunder game is one of the games I am truly looking forward to. Too many storylines to miss that one (Rondo vs Westbrook, Perkins vs KG, Green vs Durant, Pierce vs Durant in the clutch.) :D

Final Thoughts.

Player of the Game : L.Barbosa - 19pts/7reb/5ast/1stl

Bulls were a team carried by 4 players only. N.Robinson(36pts/4reb/8ast), J.Noah(19pts/18reb), L.Deng(12pts/8reb/1ast/3stl/2blk) and K.Hinrich(14pts/2reb6ast/1stl).

Celtics were limited on the boards(40-50) but with their bench scoring almost half of their points, they just outlasted their opponents.

L.Barbosa(19pts/7reb/5ast/1stl) played like he was in Phoenix again getting out and running in the open court whenever he can, Making tough layups, playing good defense, grabbing boards and making passes. A Great Overall Game.

J.Green(21pts/2reb/1ast/1stl) had a nice game off the bench providing scoring, making his shots and coming up with a couple of loose balls.

J.Sullinger(17pts/12reb) provided scoring and rebounding against a big defensive Chicago lineup. Exactly the role required of him.

R.Rondo(11pts/4reb/7ast/3stl/1blk) with Barbosa and Green scoring the points, Rondo turned his attention to defense , passing and getting the hell out of the way.

K.Garnett(13pts/4reb/1ast/1stl/1blk) did a lot of things just not as much as we are used to. He did steady the ship with his scoring and defense late in the 4th quarter and helped put the game away.

P.Pierce(8pts/2reb/6ast) had a bad shooi=ting night(again) so he started spreading the ball around. Also he made a highly contested mid J to make it an 8 point game late in the 4th.

C.Lee(13pts/4reb/2ast/2stl) made the open shot, played bad defense(33 POINTS FROM A GUY 8 INCHES SMALLER THAN YOU!!).

T.McGrady(2pts/2reb/4ast/1stl) played the primary distributor off the bench and held his own.

B.Bass(8pts/1reb/1ast) played efficiently in limited minutes as another big body to throw at Chicago.

Everybody else had forgettable game.

This was a good win for the Celtics against a conference rival and one who they will likely meet in the postseason

Next they travel home to take on another big frontcourt in Utah Jazz.

Look forward to the next game.

Good win over the Bulls, Jeff Green really playing well for you! Maybe you should try Pierce at the two with Green starting at Small Forward?

Yea I thought about that too but Pierce is too slow to guard SGs especially since i frequently use Fullcourt Press. Maybe I'll use it where matchups are favorable (Big 2s & 3s).

Also we already are too deep at the guards with Bradley coming back in 3 months so I am already thinking about potential trades to have a cleaner rotation.

I will really appreciate suggestions which don't involve blowing up the roster (Rondo,Pierce,Green,Garnett,Sullinger and preferably Bradley stays) and/or helps getting rid of bad contracts (Terry,Bass and to an extent Lee).
