First Week:

Image
Too little too late is this game's obvious story line. The Jazz must have noticed they were down by 16 when the game was pretty much over. Gordon Hayward was the one and only bright spot today but did it mostly in garbage time. He shot 5-8 from the three point line and 8- 13 FG's which made him end up with twenty-one points. Meanwhile Houston's trio of Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lin, and Chandler Parsons combined for 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists while only giving up 1 TO.

21 points is a lot in a five minute game don't be denied, but it isn't enough when your all alone being the only one doing any thing.

Other news and rumors around the league:

Report says that Jazz's Marvin Williams is attempting to sign a contract extension
Scoring Shooting Guard from Bosnia Asmir Pekmic has declared for the 2013 NBA Draft
Lakers crush Thunder 62-45
Celtics might be shopping K.G.

Pre-Season Power Rankings are out:

Second week:

Jazz Fight hard but can't grab a road win against 1-3 Bobcats.

Image

They fought hard but just couldn't steal a win. The final score was 69-65 Bobcats, They now are below .500 at 3-4 and at 21 in the power rankings. This match was a story of one on one with Mo Williams grabbing 25 points and Ramon Sessions tossing in 27. But when it came down to it Kemba Walker was the deciding factor with 17 points. The Jazz on the other hand have been an exciting team with a lot of potential, it will be fun to watch this team grow and possibly contend.

Other news and rumors around the league.

Mo Williams and Ramon Sessions both win players of the week honors.
Lakers reportedly shopping Steve Nash.
This Week: Jazz somehow snatch win in South Beach
Brandon Jennings has reportedly declared for free agency

Week 2 Power Rankings out

Biggest Jump: Suns (+18)

It's Simple, Mo Got Hot.
Image
Mo Williams "In your eye" Buzzer beater shot to send the Jazz into overtime
"Man, I can't believe it. I simply got hot." That pretty much explains it all, being down 7 with 40 seconds left that is pretty much the only line you can say. In the game Mo drilled 9 threes, a new record, and shot 100% from three, he only missed one of his 12 field goals and ended with 34 points. Carmello Anthony also scored a game high 18 points in the first half and played very well. With 1/2 second left Mo Williams hit a dagger to tie it all up. Bottom line of this game; DANG!

Other news and rumors around the league:
-Rumor says that the Spurs might trade Gary Neal.
-Jerryd Bayless out for season with torn MCL
-Deron Williams and Joe Johnson both out for Brooklyn, Williams is expected to be out 1-2 weeks, while Johnson is expected to be out 2-4 weeks
-Al Jefferson out with Back Spasms for 1-2 weeks
-Malik Allen Retires after 12 year career

Week 3 Power Rankings are out:

Biggest Jump: Warriors (+12)
Biggest Drop: Grizzlies (-10)

Also: Trades have been made,
Image
On the trade to the left the Jazz swapped Jamaal Tinsley and Paul Millsap for Austin Rivers and Solomon Jones, This trade was made to grab a much needed young talented PG, the Jazz soon after dropped Jones.
On the right trade the Jazz give up Mo Williams to give Rivers time to start, they also give up Randy Foye to get Bradley Beal, Trevor Ariza and a First round pick, This makes thier young core great! They now have: Rivers, Beal, Burks, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter in thier Core.

"Beat LA, Beat LA, Beat LA" Chants could be heard all around Salt Lake City as the final horn blew. Yes, this game was huge for the Jazz. Yes, they were coming off of a 5 game losing streak. Yes, they were 3-7 in the last ten games. Yes, they were the very young underdogs. Yes, this team was mixed up with two huge deals just two days before the game began. But still Yes, they won, and they won by double digits. These Jazz youngsters would not give up against the stacked Lakers crew of: Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Antwan Jamison, Pau Gasol, and Dwight Howard. Each Jazz youngster scored except for Alec Burks, who still enjoyed a steal and a block. Austin Rivers was named the Jordan Player of the Game:
