Combined Dynasty & Association Sections

As you've probably noticed, we've combined the Dynasty and Association Story sections as part of our revamping of the NLSC Forum layout. We've made this decision to reduce the size of the board index and since both sections basically have the same purpose and audience, keeping them separate was a little redundant. For archive purposes, we are keeping the Hall of Fame sections separate for the meantime.

We've also placed the section for other video game story threads here as a subsection for increased visibility. Please keep any Madden, NHL and other story threads in that section but feel free to keep posting any Dynasty, Franchise, Association and My Player stories here in the main stories section. If you have any further questions about the changes, please feel free to ask them.

I think some of the stickied threads should be deleted/merged. There probably should be one thread named "How is your Assoc./Dynasty going?" Also, it will be way too hard keeping up with all the new associations that pop up each week so the dynasty and association lists can go bye-bye.

Just to unclutter this forum- I've never liked it when a page has like ten stickied threads in it. I think it needs a little cleaning up.

Maybe we can make something like [2k] or [Live], because all in one looks messy.

I'm sure Andrew has been very busy with changes, which I agree completely with, so I think I'll do my bit & handle the clean-up of this section over the weekend.

My plan of attack:

- Unsticky & lock both the How is Your Dynasty & Association threads, then set up a new combined one.

- Unsticky any threads with Association Lists & Dynasty Lists. Frankly they're a waste of a sticky. Most people allude to their team of choice in their thread title.

- Unsticky & lock houndy's how to do a good Association thread. Then edit the Live one to reflect both games & keep that as the only sticky since that was the first one made & the Association one is essentially a copy.

- I think Martti's Dynasty of Year thread shouldn't be stickied and would be better in a Hall of Fame thread but since it covers both games, I'm not sure where to put it. Will take suggestions on that.

- I won't be messing with Hall of Fame subsections, probably leave that for admins.

I'm not going to make it a rule, but might be good practice (I've been doing it for years) to mention in your thread title what game version (ie. NBA 2k10, NBA 2k11, Live '10 etc).

On another note, I am glad to see Video Game Stories get a subsection, now hopefully some of you guys will look at it & use it.

I'm quite strongly for keeping both Live and 2k Hall of Fames seperate. I always liked the challenge being there of trying to make both sections; it's kind of like making the national side for both Rugby League and Union.

That being said, I'm glad both sections are together now. Instead of possibly favouring one section (which I've been guilty of), it lets everyones' stories get an equal chance of being read.

Sounds good to me, X. At this point we could certainly archive the Dynasty/Association of the year thread since last year's voting is over and done with. Although I qualified the point about keeping the Hall of Fame sections separate "for now", I'm in no rush to combine them, I think they work better separately anyway.

I too would strongly encourage people to mention the game they're playing in thread titles just to give everyone a heads up but frankly since the story itself is more important than the game/series, like X said it's not something we'll be enforcing as a rule. Just a good idea that we'd strongly suggest for everyone's convenience.

I actually like it. The Live Dynasty section was dying away due to the cancellation of Elite, and 2K's flourishing. Now, each story can get an equal amount of readers, as Kenny said. Really hoping to see some Live stories flourish as much as some 2K stories.

I'm with Sit there. Maybe we could have a dynasty story ideas/advice thread or something, but I think the "how to make a successful association" threads despite meaning well are fairly redundant.

Isn't that basically what those threads are meant to be, though? I'm with X, re-write the Dynasty one to include Association info and let it double as an advice/ideas thread.

Clogs up the page? I'm sorry but that's absurd, it's one thread.

It's a handy resource and a lot of effort was put into it. You might not have any use for it but for newbies it may well be a different story. It can stay.

Sit, how was your original ALIB the best dynasty of 2006 when it is rated behind my Blazers' one in the Hall of Fame?

Perhaps there could be a new stickied thread that lists past winners of dynasty/association awards and the story of the year. Could either be locked like the hall of fame entries or open for people to discuss.

That is a thought. The other thought is that any dynasty/Association that is good enough to win awards will definitely already be in the Hall of Fame
