(3-2) Denver Nuggets .::. 2-game-recap | Melo gone

Parting ways with Denver? Melo (r.) and "Mr. Big Shot" (l.)

It's the so-called "Melo Saga". Will he leave? It seems to more likely than ever before. Considering this, all expections are vague for the organisation. They need to act in order to receive someone in exchange for 'Melo. Or do they go to the full risk and try to get the first championship for the "Mile High City" in the Rocky Mountains?!
In order to get excellent advice for their future moves, GM Ujiri has managed to land former Knicks-GM Isiah Thomas, current Coach of Florida International.
People in Colorado were at first shocked but then went off to understand the sign: a new era will begin in Denver. So it will be very sure that Anthony's days are countable from now on.

Yes you can. ;)
In fact, I'm planning not to rebuild the franchise since it takes literally years to do it in 2k. :?
From some scrimmages I can say, Nene is going to stay. We'll see.

"All or nothing"-Season coming up in Colorado

DENVER. In a press conference yesterday evening, the Denver Nuggets' Front Office announced the organization's season starting roster. The team is build around league superstar Carmelo Anthony (G/F), veteran playmaker Chaunchie Billups (G) and Brazilian power player Nene (F/C).
It also includes deluxe roleplayers like Aaron Afflalo (G), chaotic hot-or-not scorer J.R. Smith (G) or former Lottery Pick Kenyon Martin (F/C). New of this summer's free agency is Al Harrington (F).
"We are looking forward to an exciting season with these players. We know about the circumstances surrounding the franchise, but are confident to expect at the minimum the Home Court Advantage.", Nuggets' GM Ujiri said.  AP

Chapter 1 - Intro

Standing in his bureau, new Nuggets' advisor Isiah Thomas was smoking his victory cigar - he was at his merge of victory, his plan had worked out. After dropping out of the New York Knicks in shame, he had worked steadily to get back into a NBA franchise. But whatever he did, people had lost all their trust and confidence in him.

Thinking, "What do I need to do now", Thomas stood at the window of this luxorious penthouse. Quickly thinking, he went to his desk and scribbled some words on a sheet of paper. He looked at it, proud of himself managing to write the two columns "stars" and "role players". Afterwards, he wrote every important team member in one of these columns. Looking at it, he said to himself quietly: "Yes. I need to get rid of those two or three. Let's pull the trigger!"

Pulling out his newest smartphone, he dialed a number: "You're there?! Alright, see I'm planning moves. Are you interested in not named here ;)? No?" Stunned that someone rejected this awesome offer, he texted the next number. When he saw the answer, a smile walked on his face - "Jackpot!"

By the afternoon, news had made through the training gym and to the players: 'Isiah is back!'

Nuggets win close home opener

Image

Dominated the game by any means: Chauncey Billups

Denver Nuggets 84-78 Minnessota Timberwolves

In a tightly contested game, the Denver Nuggets could escape closely from the Minnessota Timberwolves today with a narrow 6-point margin. However, everybody needs to work together more as a team there, as more than 60% of Denver's total points were contributed by Billups and Anthony.
Starting off, the Nuggets were surprised by the Wolves' team effort. Other than expected, they couldn't pull away from the estimated second-worst team in the league and had difficulties to get defensive stops. After leading with 6-0 after one minute, Michael Beasley managed to sink two consecutive three-pointers, which evened the game. "Hand down, man down!" was Anthony's credo in the defense. Reacting to Beasley's efforts offensively, he managed to hit him hard on the second trey. Beasley went down, and was forced to leave the game due to severe back pain. Wolves doctor Bat Medicine commented after the game that Beasley is expected to be "out for 2 or 4 weeks." Even with Beasley down, Minnessota battled and kept the game close, as Anthony emerged for 9 points in this quarter alone.
In the second quarter, the Nuggets were able to establish a tiny lead of 3 points and carried it on into halftime. Carmelo as the offensive anchor had gone out for 14 points and 4 rebounds this far.
Deep down in the third, Colorado's crowd were presented a supreme performance - unluckily by the Wolves. Denver couldn't get anything to go, and missed 7 following shots - sympomatic the missed one-on-no one-layup by Ty Lawson. Only at the quarter's end, there seemed to be teamplay existing in the Pepsi Center on the side of the home team: Tremendous passing combinations led to two treys made by Chauncey Billups, who was nearly without mistakes this evening from beyond the arc, sinking 5 of 6. His counterpart on the other side, Luke Ridnour, was also on fire, on his side also contributing two three pointers in this quarter.
The story of the fourth quarter is quickly told: Many lead changes enlightened the cheery crowd of the Center, who now got what they paid for: an electric, fascinating game. Late in the clutch, Denver was up by 4, when the Wolves foult intentionally to send Carmelo Anthony to the line. His points number 26 and 27 sealed the game.
Denver's veteran playmaker Chauncey Billups was elected as Jordan Brand's "Player of the game" due to maginificient shooting and offensive work, shining with 25 points and 8 assists.

Denver Nuggets:
Carmelo Anthony: 27 P, 8 R, 2 A
Chauncey Billups: 25 P, 3 R, 8 A
Nêne: 6 P, 5 A, 2 B

Minnessota Timberwolves:
Wesley Johnson: 17 P, 3 R, 3-4 FT
Luke Ridnour: 17 P, 4 A, 3-4 3P
Jonny Flynn: 7 P, 4 R, 5 A

And as any time, I'm open for any advice.

Easy Win for Nuggets

Image

Doing that "Winner's dance": J.R. Smith & Carmelo Anthony

Image Denver Nuggets 82-66 Utah Jazz Image

The Denver Nuggets start into the rolling, now beating the Utah Jazz with 82-66. It was an easy win for the Coach Karl's team, as they didn't let Utah have any chance to win - speaking, that the Nuggets won each single quarter of this contest. George Karl was very content after the game about his team's effort, saying that "we are on the right way onto the playoffs by now". Once again it was Anthony getting it done in the offensive end of the floor, leading his team with 28 points.

"I am pleased of how this team is moving today. I am pleased of all our efforts here, but I think it's the best opportunity for my career, to test the Free Agency", Anthony was quoted after the game asked on his future.

However, the game also showed problems on the Nuggets' defensive side. Andrei Kirilenko, Russian defensive-specialist, dissected the 2-3 zone Denver's more than only a few times, getting calls to the line almost at will. In total, 16 times. J.R. Smith and Anthony found no answers this evening to the foreigner.

Again, Nuggets' point guard Chauncey Billups helped immensely to set his teammates up, dishing out 12 dimes. Despite struggling with defending on Kirilenko, the Nuggets' interior force Nêne changed many open opportunities Utah's to some contested - he collected 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, while the Jazz star-players Jefferson and Williams combined for 7-23 shooting from the field.

Denver Nuggets:
Carmelo Anthony: 28 P, 5 R, 4 A
Chauncey Billups: 15 P, 12 A, 2 S
Nêne: 6 P, 10 R, 4 B

Utah Jazz:
Andrei Kirilenko: 17 P, 6 R, 11-16 FT
Deron Williams: 11 P, 2 A, 3-10 FG
Al Jefferson: 10 P, 8 R, 4-13 FG

Rumor Update
According to well-informed sources close to new Nuggets' advisor Isiah Thomas, there are intensive trade talks between the Colorado team and the Golden State Warriors. Larry Riley had responded immediately to a SMS send by Thomas a few hours after his inauguration, the source told us: "Isiah is very excited about Larry [Riley] being pleased by his offer."

The deal itself would be a huge blockbuster for all-around the NBA, as it would include even 3 star players of their respective teams.

The Deal:
Denver sends: Carmelo Anthony, Al Harrington, 1st Round Draft Pick 2012
Golden State sends: Monta Ellis, David Lee

According to rumors around the Nuggets' management, there are few details left to be discussed, but a general consensus is already there.

Why Denver would do it: Self explanatory. Carmelo Anthony has been quoted more than once to be expected to leave the Rocky Mountains in the summer via Free Agency, Al Harrington has a contract even Isiah would have thought about before offering it and the Draft Pick can be expected to be non-lottery-material with this star-studded team. On the other side, they get back a high-volume scorer with love for a well-sinked three pointer, and Power Forward with range which fits into Denver's expected new team build in the years "post Anthony". So they trade an "untradedable" contract, someone who would leave anyway and some draft pick - what the dealy? A damn good one! Only Lee's contract would be hurting. Grade: A (-)
ImageImage
Why Golden State would do it: Good question - realgm.com doesn't know about that and can't tell you. The cap dump they recieve by trading away David Lee fat contract, is coming back with Al Harrington. And Carmelo Anthony probably won't give them the push they badly need for advancing deep in the playoffs straight off in his first season there. Questionable move. Grade: C+

Other 'Melo rumors:
- Miami offering Bosh for Anthony
- Knicks willing to give STAT for 'Melo
- OKC: Durant/Collison for 'Melo/Lawson?
- Philly swapping Igoudala/Holiday with Anthony?
