RETRO NBA STARTING OVER TAKING IT BACK 2 90-91

Postby suirad on Fri Nov 26, 2010 9:15 am

Now that the nba lockout approaches I should have some more time to focus on my retro work. I started formulating the 90-91 season because I discovered how much fun i had playing the seasons after that. For those that don't know i am one of the original patchers on alonchos 91-92 masterpiece. Some of my work was used there as well as with clarkmyloves 96-97 patch and jamlieks 2003 mod. I was just good with jerseys and portraits back then. This was almost 2 years ago. Now I have broadened my patching prowess and can do more than that now. You may see some additional jerseys, courts, dornas, headshapes, portraits cfs etc all made by me as my love for the past and this game has forced me to learn the nuances of patching and BECOME BETTER. Now some of my stuff may not the best around but its better than nothing and its all practice for me at the end of the day SHADES OF 90-91 opening night the rockets square off against the blazers Image Image Image Image [IMGImage Image Image

The Nba Draft gave the league alot to look forward to in the coming years as this years rookie crop is very promising. Last Night there was a matchup between 2 of the top 10 picks of the 93 draft in Golden States Chris Webber and Milwaukees Vin Baker. Webber the number 1 overall pick was the talk of the town being selected this past June by Orlando as He is one of the most sought after players in recent memory. A former member of the fab 5 at Michigan Chris webber led the wolverines to 2 consecutive NCAA championship games. His future seemed certain as when the magic called his name NBA gms began to panic as they wondered how would they be able to contain a frontline that featured both Webber and the leagues newest superstar and reigning rookie of the year Shaquille Oneal. Then just like that Webber was traded to the Warriors for 3rd overall pick Anfernee Hardaway which seemed like a good move as the Warriors already featured all world pg Tim (king of the crossover) Hardaway and suprise stud Latrell Sprewell the number 24 overall pick a year ago. With a weak frontline the warriors made the move as they did not have enough room for 3 guards on paper it made sense. Orlando needed a playmaker they got it in Anfernee Hardaway but the trade could be disatorous as Tim Hardaway went down in training camp with a torn ACL that will put him out for the season. With veteran journeyman Avery Johnson and 2nd yr guard Keith Jennings as the backup that slightly may change Golden States attack. in Hardaway Gs looses 22ppg so Webber may have to help pick up the load so that perennial allstar and dream teamer Chris Mullin (25.9 a clip a year ago) doesnt have to do it alone. On the otherside the Bucks are trying to get back to the playoffs as they havent been since 1991. Vin Baker hopes to be One of the pieces that helps to make that happen. He was a virtual unknown out of the university of Hartford being picked 8th by the bucks this past june. He didnt come into this league with the fanfare that Webber did scouts say but most of them agree that he will be one heck of a player potentially an allstar. With 2nd year guard Todd Day,3rd year pg Erick Murdock and swingman Blu Edwards the bucks hope to taste success this year.

I tell you what, although this is no "real" story about you & your team trying to succeed, I love it. The pics feel so old school and I love how you really seem to hang in those old times with those texts. Missing C-Webb for sure, one of my fav players in his prime.

(DETROIT FREE PRESS) 10/23/1994 We caught up with Pistons Hall of Fame bound point guard Isiah Thomas at the pistons practice facility in Auburn Hills getting up some jumpshots. The odd thing was practice was not scheduled today as the team was off. Being an accomplished 12 time all star who to some is the greatest point guard to ever play the game we asked zeke why he was here in the gym instead of resting his 31 yr old body. Zeke-" well i wasnt the only one here. Joe Dumars left about an hour ago. Im here because im still highly motivated to play this game and to be a champion again. Those back to back championships we won in 89 and 90 are the sole reason I play this game. I want to be the best its as simple as that. I didnt accomplish as much as i have in my career by taking days off. We also have some young guys here like Lindsey Hunter and Allan Houston who we are very high on. As the leader of this team I feel its my job to set an example for these young guys like some of the vets did for me when I first came into this league. I also hear people saying I lost a step. I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself as I have accomplished alot in my career. First it wasMagic, then Larry and now Michael has left. I know some say im next but i told Lindsey im not ready to give you the reigns yet young fella lol I still got some buisness to take care of. This team is not the same as it was during our championship years ill admit but the fire still burns inside of me. We lost Dennis to San Antonio in the offseason but we got Sean Elliot in return and i like what he brings to our team. The bottom line is this team doesnt plan on laying down not if i have anything to say about it"

The preseason continued this afternoon and featured a intriguing match up of 2 of the most dominant big men in the league. 2nd year center Shaquille O'neal looks to continue to leave his imprint on a league that witnessed him take it by storm last year with his thunderous dunks and intimidating presence which garnered him rookie of the year honors in 1993 with averages of (23.4ppg/13.9reb/1.9blk)
Shaq is definately the wave of the future in the NBA. However we do not live in the future we live in the now. That now is Hakeem "the dream" Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets. If Shaq is power personified then Hakeem is grace and finesse. We have never witnessed a post player with the footwork that Olajuwon posseses. The Dream moves with a poetry that often ends in tragedy for those that try to defend him. Dont take the dreams mesmerzing moves for weakness for when it comes to defense The Dream becomes a NIGHTMARE. The leagues leading shot blocker at 4.2 a game last year to go along with his 26.1ppg and 13.0reb a game makes him in many experts estimation the best all around center in basketball. Both these teams look to improve upon last years succeses. The Magic an expansion doormat for years ever since entering the league in 1990 finished the 93 campaign with a 41-41 record the highest win total the franchise has ever had thanks to number 32. The next aspiration is the playoffs for this upstart squad that features veteran leadership at the point in Scott Skiles, 2 deadly 3pt shooters in Nick Anderson and Dennis Scott and Prized draft pick Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway taken number 3 overall in this June's draft who many scouts compare to a young Magic Johnson because of his court vision and size. At 6'7' 195 Hardaway is a potential matchup nightmare that has the whole world in front of him with rare ability hardly seen for a player his size. As for the Rockets Who come off a 55-27 record and a second round exit in the playoffs to Seattle a year ago the goal is simple. Take the next step and become an elite team. To do that they will need more consistent play from Vernon Maxwell and Kenny Smith. They will also need Otis Thorpe to return to His 1992 all star form. 2nd yr forward Robert Horry will also have to continue his development and put some time into the weight room. If these things come to fruition Hakeem may not be the only dream realized in Houston this year.

The NBA lost some major talents this past year. The deaths of Reggie Lewis and Drazen Petrovic have shaken the basketball world to its foundation. In honor of them we take a look at this news clipping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcVVZry6zIY We also lost the games greatest player to retirement. We will never see the likes of Michael Jordan again for to AIR is not human. If you missed his retirement here is a look back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWlZ_yCq ... re=related

November 1, 1993: The Golden State Warriors signed Gerald Glass as a free agent.

The Seattle Supersonics traded Derrick McKey and Gerald Paddio to the Indiana Pacers for Detlef Schrempf.

The Detroit Pistons signed Tracy Moore as a free agent.

The Detroit Pistons signed Dan O'Sullivan as a free agent.

The Houston Rockets waived Dave Jamerson.

Nba Report
SuperSonics Get Schrempf, Deal McKey to Pacers
November 02, 1993|From Associated PressThe Seattle SuperSonics acquired forward Detlef Schrempf from the Indiana Pacers on Monday in exchange for forward Derrick McKey and swingman Gerald Paddio.

"We've just added an all-star to our team," SuperSonic President Bob Whitsitt said. "Any time you can do that, I think you can't help but become a better team."

Image Schrempf averaged 19.3 a game last year for the Pacers. His versatility will add a dimension that the Sonics lacked with McKey last year. McKey will bring his 13.4 ppg to an upstart Pacers squad that features one of the deadliest shooters in the league in Reggie Miller along with 7'4 center Rik Smits.
