A Pictorial: The City (2-1)

Postby The X on Sun Nov 07, 2010 8:35 am

Hey Guys,

I started up an Association with the Warriors (player roles OFF). Playing All-Star Sim (with a few tweaks) 29 game season with current Warriors lineup. I wasn't going to post this & I'm still really not going to, this is more a thread for me to follow the progress through it, using pictures. If you have any queries about progress, I'll post. Otherwise might just do the odd update with end of season standings, awards, playoff tree & an interim with All-Star teams if I feel like it.

2010/11:

    Record: 2-1

    Depth Chart
    C- A.Biedrins/B.Wright/D.Gadzuric (IR)
    PF- D.Lee/L.Amundson/E.Udoh (R)
    SF- D.Wright/R.Williams/V.Radmanovic
    SG- M.Ellis/R.Carney/C.Bell (IR)
    PG- S.Curry/J.Lin (R)

Swingman Chase Budinger was very effective, including for this breakaway dunk in a 20 point win in Oakland for the Rockets (1-0) over the Warriors (0-1)

Image
Rookie Jeremy Lin couldn't believe his debut was in a blowout loss. Get use to it Jeremy. For the record, the highest scoring Asian in the game was actually Yao with a monster 30 point, 20 rebound night

The Baron was quite subdued in his return to Oakland for the Los Angeles Clippers (0-2) although did come up with some clutch baskets in the 4th quarter after the Clippers rallied from a 16 point 3rd quarter deficit

Image
Steph Curry hit the game winning three in overtime to propel the Warriors (1-1) to their first win of the season. However it wouldn't have been possible without the heroics of Monta Ellis, who hit back-to-back threes to send the game into OT, on his way to a career high 46 points

Yeah, Golden State is a fun team to use. I really hope they do well this season in real life. You should try to win the scoring title with Monta.

I will try to win scoring title with Monta. Won't be killing him off, that's for sure :P . And they may become my new favourite team IRL since they've got quite a few likeable pieces & the fact I use to like them back in '95 with Spree

Golden State and Toronto are my two favorite non-Portland teams. Gotta love downtrodden perennial rebuilding teams. (Y) Besides Monta though (who is growing on me with his becoming a good player again!), I pretty much like their whole roster. May need to get a Curry jersey.

I'm always had a soft spot for the Warriors, just didn't like previous ownership regime. Now that they are gone, can get back to supporting them.

What's your thoughts on Brandan Wright? He seems hopeless to me. Udoh at least gives me some shotblocking & defensive help but Wright is hopeless. Amundson is infinitely more valuable (Y) I like that 2k11 replicated Amundson's game so well :P

EDIT: I actually really like the team's home court & home jerseys in 2k11. Don't know how they compare to real life, but they are sweet. Don't know if I'll be a fan of away jerseys, but the jerseys are growing on me.

Not big on the court but I love the jerseys. Big summer of positive changes for Golden State. Its sad to see the Meal Ticket go, but I still like their roster. Chris Cohan was turrible.

Wright's an enigma. He has some upside but he's made of glass. I kind of like him in the game though. Decent vertical. Udoh blows though. He's a combination of Warrior busts Wright and Diogu in that he both sucks and is injury prone. Haven't used him in the game though, since he's out of the rotation IRL.

The jerseys are different. I don't mind them. I like how they went back with the logo to Golden Gate Bridge. :)

I've never liked Wright since his days at UNC. He is indeed made of glass. He's a gazelle, but then again, gazelles get eaten (N)

I can't share the sentiments on Udoh. He's no Ibaka but he's unique enough for Warriors. At worst, he's a better shot blocking Wright. At best he is more :P Either way, my team needs him off the bench since he provides some defense & shot blocking. Carney, Udoh & Amundson ripped it up in 2nd quarter 18-4 run yesterday :P

I'm glad they got rid of Maggette & Meal Ticket. Made since Association possible :P

Agreed. It's retro & classic at the same time

Short attention span? I believe the correct term is "hectic lifestyle".

I like their new jerseys too, brings out the good ol retro look with a slight twist.

Great to see you with another one after 2K messes up everything again X (Y)

It's really my fault for keeping player roles ON. Should learn from mistakes. Thought they might've fixed considering was an issue in 2k10. 2k is great game, despite the bugs & glitches (Y)

Yeah. I like Player Roles as it makes things more interesting and prevents guys like the Meal Ticket from playing 2 MPG, but it sucks when the entire Celtics bench is demanding a trade and playing like shit.

In the end Player Roles is a great idea but it doesn't factor enough of the variables & has its bugs.

The one bright spot for the Warriors (1-2): this dunk. Other than that, I should've simmed this game. All future Lakers' (3-0) games are probably gonna be simmed  39 point losses are a waste of my time. Lakers are too good (N)

I actually have Player Roles ON... I know a mess is coming later, so put CPU Trades OFF... but still something will happen that I'll have to fix. :( Keep it up Mr. X :applaud:

Learning off Sasha :P

Anyways, I stopped this, converted it to a 29 game Association. Don't know what I was thinking trying to do 82. I just don't frankly have the time to even keep this updated or any others. Unfortunately it's a luxury that I just can't have.

I'm getting an arm sleeve from Eastbay for my shooting arm  My right forearm has been dodgy for last month or two, so hopefully it helps.

Btw, I'll have the "X" headband ready to go for Sunday's game. I wonder if anybody else apart from us remember Seraph's Live Dynasty where he edited a custom "X" onto my player's headband. Well, I've got a matching one IRL courtesy of Mr Sit
