If Kobe was on the Mavs with Dirk, I would hug him.

Well, he's decided to be a Laker for life...

No, my school's colors are purple and gold. I just don't like the Lakers because a big chunk of their fans consider themselves "fans", but once they're dethroned, they're gonna say, "I never was a Laker fan", and begin bandwagoning on whatever team dethroned them. And of course, as a Rockets fan (a real one), it's an instinct for me to hate/dislike them. Someone like Sit I respect though, because he's been a Laker fan since their three-peat years (bandwagoner!), but remained a loyal fan throughout their few downs in the past decade.

Or conversely, those people only claim to be Laker fans after they win the championship.

...Heat fans after Lebron comes...

...Knicks fans after Amare comes...

...Hornets fans after that 9-0 start...

...stop being Celtics fans after they lost the 2009-10 Finals...

...stop being Cavs fans after Lebron leaves...

...stop being Wizards fans after that gun incident...

...stop being Rockets fans after Yao's one-season leave...

...stop being Suns fans after Amare and Marion leave...

You get the point.

...and being a Cavs fan after winning a game...

This sticky thread now covers both the Live and 2k series. If you have any queries with starting a Dynasty/Association story, please feel free to post it here and we'll try to steer you in the right direction :P

I have a few questions here, can anybody help me?

1) How to execute a three-team trade in 2K11?
2) How to change somebody's jersey# to 00 (double 0)? When it says "Enter new number" and I type 00, it only comes back as 0 (single).

Hey Guys,
So I have read this a couple of times now, and really want to make a great association. I have tried about 3 times now but have given up in the first couple of weeks. So, I have a couple of questions to ask you vets.

1) I'm not a very good writer and don't have ps, so what type of layout should I use?
2) My association's never garner any interest, so how can I keep from being discouraged?

Thanks in advance :D

Woogie98, hopefully my answers to your questions are helpful:

1. It's hard to suggest a specific layout to use. Trust me, you don't need photoshop to make your recaps, articles, etc. look pretty. If you need ideas, may I suggest you read my "Houston, We Have A Dynasty" story (link on my signature)? [/propaganda] I wasn't a very good writer then either, and the layout isn't anything fancy, but I was pretty happy with the result. You could also read the other stories that are in the HOF for ideas as well. Learn from the best!

2. As a story writer, you're going to have times in which replies are scarce. It is discouraging, but remember, replies shouldn't be the biggest reason you're writing your association in the first place. As said by someone three posts above, watch the number of views you're getting. Sometimes, people just don't have much time to reply (which sucks very much), but if you're getting a lot of views, that's a good sign. Also, persistence is key. If you keep your story going for a couple pages or three, more people will be likely to tune in. It also wouldn't hurt to use catchy thread titles.

Thanks Axel. helped a bunch!! Definitely going to read your Rockets story but 35 pages -__-
Going to find a system that works for me, and going to have to take a trip to the ps thread and ask politely for some banners. I want to have an association because it seems like a lot of fun!! So next time it's going to be AWESOME! :cheeky:

By read, I don't mean force yourself to read 30-35 pages (although, if you find it interesting, why not? :P ). Just skim through it and look at the layouts used for recaps, articles, stories, etc. just to get an idea or a source of inspiration. Again, it also wouldn't hurt to look in the HOF.

You might find that running a story thread improves your writing skills. Definitely take a look at other story threads as well as real news articles and feature columns, to get a feel for how people write about basketball.

You will improve by writing, trust me. I'm so much into English because of my love for the NBA and basketball, it has definitely helped me to improve my english to heights that I wouldn't even stand out negatively here despite being German (at least nobody has ever told me that my english is weak :D )

I really enjoy this article. I'm not guaranteeing anything but when I get an XBOX One and get NBA Live 14 or NBA 2K I'm going to make a comeback. If I get 2K I'm going to pick an eastern conference team. If I get Live I'm going to pick a western conference team. On 2K I'm leaning towards Orlando or Philadelphia because of the rebuilding. On NBA Live I'm leaning towards Pelicans or Jazz. Pelicans would be interesting because of to me Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans. I might end up possibly trading off Eric Gordon for an expiring contract to have cap space. I want to try and possibly make a push for Lebron, Carmelo or someone else that's a big name.
