It happened fairly organically, too. I knew he was racking up the assists, but I wasn't aware he'd had a 20-20 game until it was over.

Ended up paying tribute to the first season of this Dynasty, by re-creating the roster and playing a game in the Xbox 360 version (which of course, had no Dynasty mode; only the old single Season mode).

I loved the old live games for their presentation. I can't blame you going back for this game! Marv Albert made those games so authentic. It's a pity even he aged and declined like NBA Live IRL!

I'd love to see how many hours I logged on this game, nice tribute Andrew. Ben Gordon was a huge problem back then too!

I'd like to see my hours played with NBA Live 06 PC as well! I've played NBA 2K17 PS4 for over 2700 hours, and I imagine between roster updates and multiple years in Dynasty mode, NBA Live 06 PC would be even more than that.

Yeah my ps2 went everywhere with me back then and my ex was working on her uni degree so I'd be playing on live 06 for hours and hours on end letting her study .. ohhh the struggles haha

Good times! I know microtransactions and grinding are an overdone topic, but they remain a major issue because they're not necessary for a game to be fun. Indeed, they usually stand in the way of that. All the hours we spent with those classic titles speaks for itself.

I think that's why I still loved nba live franchise modes despite the barebones features it takes me back to where the focus was solely on enjoying the games played

Definitely. Pre-NBA 2K18, NBA 2K also had some fantastic releases with deep offline modes that you could sink hours into (and still can). Even when their MyCAREER modes and whatnot were connected, they were less grindy, too. It's difficult to say without sounding like a grumpy old man, but it feels like we should be in a new Golden Age, yet we aren't.

Exactly, I kind of stay away from mygm to comparing it to a high maintenance girlfriend I once had.

Maybe that's why I always preferred the barebones plain Jane kinda franchise mode lol

There's something to be said for simplicity. The RPG elements of MyGM are a bit too much for my tastes, but Association and MyNBA/MyLEAGUE are great. Old Dynasty modes are great too, but Dynasty/Franchise in NBA Live 14-19 is just too barebones for me.
