K-Mart vs. K-Mart but there can be only oneBOXSCORERevamped Warriors Looking Sharp
October 30, 2010 Oakland, CA -- Golden State sealed their second consecutive win with a 118-104 victory over the visiting Denver Nuggets and now boast a 2-0 record, the first time the Warriors have opened the regular season with back-to-back wins since the 1994-95 season where they went 5-0 before their first loss.
Kevin Martin got things going for the Warriors early, scoring 13 points in the first quarter while teammate Stephen Curry pushed a dizzying, full-throttle pace. By the end of the quarter the Warriors had outscored the Nuggets 37-25.
Unable to match Curry's foot speed, Denver's point-man Chauncey Billups picked up early fouls and spent much of the 1st half on the bench. Golden State took advantage and carried an 11 point lead into halftime.
The sizzling Warriors opened the 3rd period with another surge, this time led by Curry who exploded for 11 quick points including two from 3-point territory.
Billups returned in the second half but continued to struggle with fouls while the Warriors maintained their hyper-tempo behind sixth-man Delonte West. "Keeping our opponents on their heels and locking up their reserves… that's why I'm here," said West after the match. West finished with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, 2 rebounds and an assist.
Denver looked to show signs of life in the fourth, opening the period with a 7-0 run and forcing head coach Don Nelson to call a quick timeout; but Golden State quickly regrouped with 6 unanswered points of their own, and a steady diet free-throws down the stretch squelched any hope of a Nuggets' run.
"A big win for us," Curry said after the game. "They're one of the better teams in the league but we really took it to them tonight." Curry finished with a team-high 36 points, 4 assists and connected on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Chauncey Billups never found his rhythm and finished a quiet night with 6 points off 3-of-12 shooting and dished 5 assists. His stand-in, Ty Lawson, who wouldn't fair much better vs. Curry, topped with 7 points on 1-of-6 shooting plus 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
When asked what he attributed the Warriors' solid start to, head coach Don Nelson replied, "A combination of factors really; being healthy for one. We're also hitting our free-throws and our bigs are doing a terrific job on the glass and getting stops which really helps give guys opportunities to score in transition."
J.R. Smith led Denver with 29 points and 2 assists; his Warriors' counterpart Kevin Martin finishing with 31 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Martin and Curry combined for 67 of the Warriors' total output.
"Steph and I had some great looks tonight and just knocked down our shots," said Martin.
Martin and company will try to keep their unbeaten streak alive on the road in Texas, where they travel to play Tim Duncan and the powerhouse San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs ended last season with a league-best 63-19 record, before falling to the Lakers in the conference finals.

* Bonus CF (Live06) - Chris Andersen *
Sometimes I come across a player that I must fix texture/head shape-wise because it really bugs the crap outta me; one of these I absolutely couldn't stand is "Mullet" Chris Andersen
I've attached a .zip file with a CF mod that fixes this (borrowing head & hair shapes from different players); see the before/after here:
BIRDMAN: before/after
A little messy in the back, but works like the headband is snug under his hair; aint perfect but a 1000 times better than his mullet helmet.
Anyway, yours to use if you want! enjoy - C
