Shaquille O’Neal blasts “egotistical” Kobe Bryant.

By Jackal

Thursday 18th of November, 2004.
El Segundo, Los Angeles California. (Ticker)--

After all that’s happened, after all the time that has passed, after both teams have adjusted to the drastic changes made by the management during the off-season, Shaquille O’Neal & Kobe Bryant are feuding once again.

Former Los Angeles Lakers Superstar, Shaquille O’Neal has blasted Kobe Bryant about being selfish, egotistical & predicts that the Miami Heat will have a better record then the Los Angeles Lakers will have at the end of the season. O’Neal went on to say that he wouldn’t be surprised if Mitch Kupchak realized he’d made a big mistake and would likely want to trade Kobe before the trade deadline.

“If Kobe can’t see that the whole Lakers franchise was centered around me, he’s one blind kid.” O’Neal told the Miami Herald.
“Bryant needs to realize he can’t lead a team to championship contention. I know we’ve had our differences but Kobe just needs to stop sucking his own [expletive].” “But of course, he’s too egotistical to actually admit something of that sort.”

O’Neal’s latest outburst come as quite a surprise to some, yet a lot of Laker fans were heard saying they expected a backlash from O’Neal sooner or later. O’Neal has been bitter about the Los Angeles Management trading him away to Miami in return to new faces Lamar Odom & Caron Butler. Both players seem to be doing quite well for themselves despite all the media frenzy around the Bryant & O’Neal feud.

I placed a phone call to Kobe Bryant’s agent and I was told that Bryant had no comments at the moment.

This afternoon I received a phone call from none other than Kobe Bryant himself. The conversation was short but to the point.

After the cordial hellow’s & hi’s, Kobe Bryant asked that he be quoted on the following:

”I’m surprised Shaquille would stoop to such levels, it’s quite surprising in fact. I thought we had move on from the petty name calling and all that kind of stuff. Apparently only one of us has moved on. He’s attacking my character as a person, fine. I won’t say a word about that. I will, however defend myself as a player on the court. I’d like to tell Shaquille that I will try my utmost best to humiliate him in the upcoming game versus the Miami Heat which is to be played on the 30th of November. I will make sure I dunk one right in his face. Let’s see what he has to say about that then.”

Image
Shaq and Kobe during the better days

Wow, this is getting interesting I thought to myself, perhaps even more interesting then when they used to play together.

“I wish Shaquille, Coach Van Gundy & the rest of the Miami Heat the best of luck in the following games, especially on the 30th of November. Shaq & Company will need all the luck they can get.”

Shaquille O’Neal was unavailable for Bryant’s answer to his “egotistical” accusations.

Sounds like Bryant has a point to prove this season, will he be able to maintain this high level of play? Or will the season wear him down? We can only sit back & watch.

Lamar Odom, one of the new players acquired in the Los Angeles – Miami trade, was quoted saying “Kobe’s got the goal in front of him. Shaquille O’Neal, Phil Jackson and even Ray Allen cannot sway Kobe’s determination to win. He wants that championship. As his team-mates, we’ll do our best to accommodate him & his playing style.”

In other words, the league better watch out for the new kids on the block.

The Lakers will play the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, followed by the Nuggets and the Atlanta Hawks twice in a row before the Miami Heat game which will be played in retro uniforms

Bryant injures thumb

LOS ANGELES, October 12 -- Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, injured his right thumb on saturday night as the Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers with a 96-93 score.

Bryant sufferd the injury during a potential blocked shot on Clippers guard Corey Maggette. Bryant fouled Maggette on the play and left the game during the first quarter. Bryant came back midway the second quarter to finish the game.

X-Rays were negative, but the thumb is bothering Bryant since its on his shooting hand. Bryant will not miss any games, but he might get limited minutes.

LA Lakers 103, Dallas 90
Lakers on a hot streak

LOS ANGELES, Wed. 15 Dec (Ticker) -- Even though being injured, Kobe Bryant showed that he is not giving up just like that.

As the Lakers star helped the Los Angeles Lakers get their seventh straight win as they beat the Dallas Mavericks with a 103-90 score. Bryant led the game in scoring with 25 points in just 20 minutes while shooting 11 from 17 around the field including 3 from 5 three-pointers. Bryant broke his against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, it was the same thumb that he injured earlier this season, but he is not been placed on the Injured List and can keep on playing trough the pain.

"If Im capable of playing, then you will see me on the court" Bryant said after the game. "I just have to ignore the pain and help my team to get a win"

The Lakers were not the only team who had "problems" with injuries. Erick Dampier and Michael Finley who are both starters for the Mavericks also played while being injured as they got limited minutes during theyre loss. During the second quarter of the game, Lakers starting center Chris Mihm bumped into Jerry Stackhouse and strained his achilles tendon on the play. Mihm was forced to go to the locker-room but was able to return to the game and most likely wont miss any game. However, the loss of Chris Mihm gave Vlade Divac a chance to shine as he made a personal 8-0 run against the Mavericks to get the lead back. Divac finished the game with 18 points while scoring 14 during the first half.

Lamar Odom who shot above .650% from the field the last couple of games, had a off-night shooting the ball as he was able to just make 5 out of his 19 shots. Odom however grabbed 11 boards and did a good job on passing the ball as he finished the game with 6 assists, Chucky Atkins led the game in assists with 7.

"Stuff like that happens" Odom said. "When you realize that your shots are not falling, you got to step up with other parts of the game."

Jerry Stackhouse and Jason Terry led the Mavericks in scoring, but it was not enough to get a win as they lost the game by 13 points. The Lakers have a 27-1 record in during the last 28 games both teams played in Los Angeles. The Mavericks beat the Lakers last year on their Staples Center court for the first time in 26 years. The Mavericks are looking to come off their 3 game losing streak while the Lakers will face the new Charlotte Bobcats team tomorrow.

LA Lakers 112, LA Clippers 105
Lakers remain their winning streak

LOS ANGELES, Mon. 13 Dec (Ticker) -- Even hurt, Kobe Bryant is still a hand-full for his defenders.

As Lakers star Kobe Bryant scored 20 points and dished out a season high 13 assists in the Lakers 112-105 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Bryant injured his thumb on a play when he went up for a dunk attempt over Clippers guard Corey Maggette during the second quarter, but came hard on the floor and re-injured his thumb. Bryant injured his thumb earlier during the second game of the season, ironicly also against the CLippers in their purple away uniforms. X-rays proved that Bryant this time broke a bone and is questionable for the next game against the Dallas Mavericks. Bryant however returned to the game midway the third quarter to finish the game.

"It hurt, but I was able to play with it" Bryant said after the game. "I hope I dont have to miss any games because of it, hopefully I can just play trough it like I did the last time"

Although Bryant was the leading scorer with 9 points before leaving the game, Lamar Odom and Chucky Atkins took over the scoring job as they both combined for 52 points, 31 for Odom and a season high 21 for CHucky Atkins who made 5 three-point shots. Odom also finished the game with a season high 15 rebounds which 9 of them came from offensive boards against his former Clippers team.

"You have to step up if your main scoring guy is out" Chucky Atkins said. "I think I did a good job hitting those open shots down the stretch when my team needed them"

The Clipper were leading troughout the game, at one point by as much as 15 points in the third quarter. But the Lakers scored 38 points in the final quarter to the CLippers 26 which would eventually give them the win. Odom scored 15 points in the fourth while Chucky Atkins made back to back three-pointers, one for the tie and one for the 3 point lead.

"Right now our main goal is to remain the lead, we have a tough game coming up against Dallas so hopefully we can keep it up like this and hope Kobe will be alright" Odom said.

The Lakers won their sixt straight game and are looking for number 7 as they face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

LA Lakers 107, Golden State 86
Five is not enough

LOS ANGELES, Fri. 10 Dec (Ticker) -- The Lakers won 4 straight games in a row against Sacramento, Cleveland, Chicago and Minnesota.

Tonight the Lakers turned that "4" to a 5 as they beat the struggling Golden State Warriors with a convincing 107-86 score. Lamar Odom was once again the topscorer for the Los Angeles Lakers team as he scored 25 points under a 10-19 shooting night.

"I just do what Coach Tomnjanovich asks me to do." Odom said. "Just get yourself in position on the weakside so that Kobe and others can find me and make the open shots. They have been falling lately and hopefully I can keep it up like this".

Bryant started the game scoring 9 points in the opening quarter, but didnt have a great game shooting the ball as he made just 8 of his 19 attempts and scoring a total of 18 points. The last few games his assist numbers have been going up as he collected 8 of those. Atkins lead the game in assists with 9.

[i]"Its easy with guys like Lamar, Chucky, Devean. Basicly every shooter on the team" Bryant said. "I know I will always draw the main defensive attention for our opponents, but if my teammates keep hitting shots like this, it takes away alot of presure".

The red-hot Lakers were to much for the Golden State Warriors troughout the game, as the Lakers outscored Golden State in all four quarters of the game. Back to back 2002 and 2003 NBA Slam Dunk Champion Jason Richardson showed off that he can do more then just dunk the ball, as he scored a team high 27 points while shooting .500% from the field. Dale Davis caused some troubles for the Lakers early on as he made 2 straight dunks to open te game. Davis finished with 20 points and became the games leading rebounder as he grabbed 13 points. Lamar Odom was the runner up as he collected 11.

The Lakers have a 19-2 record against the Golden State Warriors in the last 10 years in Los Angeles with this win. The Lakers and the Celtics both have the biggest winning streak in the NBA with 5 games, as Miami lost a game against New Jersey as they ended with a 10 game winning streak.

LA Lakers 100, Minnesota 95
[i]Lakers win fourth straight

MINNEAPOLIS, Wed. 8 Dec (Ticker) -- The Lakers had a hard time trying to stop the red-hot Latrell Sprewell. But the Timberwolves had the same problem with Lamar Odom.

As Lamar Odom led the Lakers to a 100-95 victory to get their 4th straight win of the season. The Lakers beat the Kings, Cavaliers and Bulls before going to Minneapolis. Odom scored 30 points on a impressive 13-16 shooting night including making all 4 of his three-point attempts. Guards Kobe Bryant and Chucky Atkins combined for 11 assists as most of those came from open shots by Lamar Odom.

"Thats what its all about in this team. creating for others" Odom said. "If it wasnt for those guys who did a hell of a job drawing the defender away from me, I wouldnt have a good night like this".

"He has definetly been playing to hiss full potential troughout the season and last year in Miami" Garnett said about Lamar Odom. "If he keeps it up like this he might be a All-Star caliber player if he isnt already".

Although the Lakers walked away with a win, they still had a very hard time stopping Timberwolves swingman Latrell Sprewell. Sprewell scored 18 of his teamhigh 29 points in the first quarter and just missed 2 shots during that perion, he finished the game with a very good 12-18 shooting performance and 2-4 from behind the three-point line. The Lakers did anything they could to try to slowdown Sprewell, including dropping double teams and putting the 6-9 Lamar Odom on him, but it didnt seem to work.

"I was all over him along with other players, but he just kept hitting them" Caron Butler said. "Sometimes players get hot from the field, and once they are hot, its hard to put a end to it".

2003/2004 NBA MVP Kevin Garnett had a hard time connecting on his shots in the first half, as he only scored 6 points on a 3-8 shooting performance. But he picked it up in the more important second half as he finished the game with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Garnett scored 6 points during a Timberwolves 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter giving the Timberwolves a 1 point lead, but the Lakers were able to answer just in time with a Lamar Odom three-pointer, which eventually might have been the key for the win.

The Lakers defeated the Timberwolves for the second straight time, as they beat them during game 6 of the Western Conference Finals during the 2003/2004 season. Minnesota lost its second straight game while the Lakers have won their fourth straight game as they face the Golden State Warriors on Friday at the Staples Center.

LA Lakers 112, Chicago 68
Lakers beat Bulls badly

LOS ANGELES, Tue. 7 Dec (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bulls seemed to miss Eddy Curry more then ever.

The Bulls starting center and franchise player hyper extended his knee and was forced to miss the game, as the Lakers beat the Bulls by a season high 44 points. The Lakers kept the Bulls under 20 points every single quarter, as they forced Chicago to only score 68 points compared tto the Lakers 112 points. The lack of the Bulls bigmen caused alot of problems in the boards as they got out-rebounded by 41 to 28 boards.

The 3 former Miami Heat players that the Lakers got this offseason combined for 52 points as Odom scored 26 and Caron Butler added 22 as the threesome also combined for 21 boards. Grant grabbed 8 of those in just 12 minutes of playing time. Kobe Bryant had a off-night as he shot 6 from 19, but it didnt bother the Lakers as Bryant got help from mainly Butler and Odom.

The Lakers started the game in a exciting way as Kirk Hinrich controled the tip, but forced a bad pass within 8 seconds as Caron Butler went coast to coast for a slam-dunk, which showed good things to come in this game. Lamar Odom who has been playing very well lately scored the Lakers first 4 points of the night and he finished with a teamhigh 26 with a 12 from 17 shooting performance and 11 boards. Most of his points came off Chucky Atkins and Kobe Bryants kickout passes as both players combined for 14 assists as Atkins led the game with 8.

The Bulls were really stuggling to find their shots as they seemed lost on both the offensive and defensive end. Rookie of the Month Ben Gordon scored a teamhigh 23 points as he and Antonio Davis were the only Bulls players to score in double figures. Bulls leading scorer and assistman Kirk Hinrich had a off night as he only scored 7 points and got 2 assists while avaraging 21.9 and 7.4 per game.

The Lakers held the Bulls down to 34 points in the first half, as they forced them to only shoot .355% troughout the game as the Lakers got their 7th win out of their last 8 games at the Staples center against the Bulls. The Lakers got their first 3 game winningstreak of the season, as the face the Minnesota Timberwolves tommorow, one of the best teams in the NBA.

LA Lakers 100, Cleveland 81
Lakers walk over Cavaliers

LOS ANGELES, Sun. 5 Dec (Ticker) -- The future of LeBron James might be bright, but Kobe Bryant still showed off as the better one.

As the Los Angeles Lakers didnt show a struggle to beat the young Cleveland Cavaliers by 19 point with a 100-81 score. Kobe Bryant was quiet in the first quarter as he only scored 4 points, but he was able to score 12 in the third quarter to end with a game-high 26 points with a 10 from 21 shooting night, including 3-5 from behind the arc. Once again it was Lamar Odom who started a few scored in a row for the Lakers at the beginning of the first quarter, as he scored a total of 12 points under a .600% shooting performance from the field.

The Cleveland Cavaliers searched for center Zydrunas Ilgauskas troughout the game as he scored a team-high 19 points including 12 points and 9 of his total 14 rebounds in the first half. However, Chris Mihm picked him up defensively and managed to hold him down to only 7 points in the first quarter.

Both teams were playing up on eachother as the score remained close after the first quarter when the Lakers led by 1 point at the end of the first 12 minutes. The Lakers led the Cavaliers by 8 points at halftime, but got into a double digit lead troughout the second half, which was to hard for Cleveland to pick it up again. The Lakers started the 4th and final quarter with a 10-0 run to get a 20 point lead, which the Cavaliers couldnt handle as they eventually lost the game by as many as 19 points.

This was the first time the fans got to see a Kobe Bryant vs LeBron James show since James joined the league. Bryant only played 10 minutes against the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2003/2004 season as he injured his shoulder as he tried to draw the foul against Kedrick Brown in the final 3 seconds of the first quarter. Bryant eventually missed the game and the second game of the season against the Cavaliers. But Bryant showed off that Bron still isnt on Kobes level as he went for 26 points, 6 assists and 4 boards while James scored 18 points under a 9 from 14 shooting performance and grabbed 5 boards.

The Lakers won 11 of their last 12 games against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and are still 1.000 on their Staples Center homecourt which opened in 1999 against this team with a 6-0 record.

LA Lakers 110, Sacramento 103
Lakers put Kings aside

SACRAMENTO, Wed. 1 Dec (Ticker) -- Although Bryant started the game slow in scoring. He did manage to set a personal season high 11 assits under his name as the Lakers defeated the leagues best Sacramento Kings in Sacramento with a 110-103 score.

The Lakers were on a 2-6 record for their away games before the game started, and many expected the Kings to be the favorite to come out victorious. However, the Lakers made sure that didnt happen as they didnt have much problems to get a win in Sacramento. The Lakers played the Kings 2 times before this season, and have won the game in Los Angeles by 20 points as the Kings played without Chris Webber, but lost by 16 in Sacramento as the Kings played with injured guard Mike Bibby who scored 17 points that day.

The Lakers had a small lead over the Kings troughout the game, by atleast 3 points, Bryant who didnt make a single field goal in the opening quarter, did showed of his passing skills as he collected 4 assists in the opening quarter. When Chucky Atkins got 2 fould early in the game, Rudy Tomnjanovich decided to put Kobe on the pointguard position and Rush at the Shootingguard. Bryant didnt seem to have much problems adjusting to his temporary position, as he made 3 assists in the final 2 minutes of the opening quarter.

The last 2 times the Lakers and Kings met before the game, Lakers coach rudy Tomnjanovich decided to put Lamar Odom on Kings leading scorer Peja Stojakovic and Brian Grant on the 4 spot. However, Butler claimed that he was able to slow down Stojakovic as he forced the Kings forward to a 9 from 21 shooting night, including 1 from 7 from the three-point line. Although Stojakovic finished with 19 points, scoring most of his points down the stretch, Butler did a good job on defending him. Although he did a good job on the defensive job, he seemed lost on the offense as he just shot 1 from 9 from the field to get only 2 points which is a season low.

The Kings were able to make a little comeback in the final period, as they led the game with 1 point for a moment. Kobe Bryant made a steal and went up for a layup as rookie Erik Daniels attempted to draw a foul, but injured his knee on the play and had to leave the game. Bryant just made 1 free-throw however, but the Lakers gave good defensive presure from that moment and forced the Kings to get their fourth loss of the season.

Kobe Bryant led 7 players in double figures as he scored 24 points and dished out 11 assists. Three of those seven players came off the bench as Vlade Divac, Brian Grant and Devean George combined for 33 points. Brian Cook made 2 big three-pointers down the stretch to give the Lakers a big lead.

Miami 106, LA Lakers 103
Heat beats LA with crusial score

Miami, Tue. 30 Nov (Ticker) -- When the Los Angeles Lakers traded center Shaquille O'Neal to the Miami Heat for Lamar Odom, Brian Grant and Caron Butler, the big question was; Which team ended up better after the trade? For now the answer is the Miami Heat.

As the Miami Heat routed the Lakers to a 106-103 loss during retro night when both teams were wearing uniforms that were used years or decades ago by the franchises. The Lakers who played in their blue 60's uniforms started the game with a 4-0 run before the Miami Heat started scoring and put the score on 8-4 in favour for the Heat. Eddie Jones was on fire from the field troughout the game as he scored 9 of his team high 34 points in the opening quarter. Jones didnt only did the part on the offensive end, on defense he gave former teammate Kobe Bryant a hard time as Bryant only shot 2 from 7 in the first quarter and connected on just 1 out of 5 three-point attempts

Shaquille O'Neal scored 10 of his 29 points in the first quarter along with 3 of his team high 5 blocked shots. The Lakers bigmen had trouble trying to stop the most dominant force in the NBA as he was able to get various potential three-point plays and connected on 5 from 7 free-throw attempts. O'Neal also finished the game with a gamehigh 11 rebounds which was tied with Lamar Odom who also collected 11.

Lamar Odom played his first game versus the Heat since being traded to the Lakers, and he once again showed off his versitality as he played about 4 positions and scored a season high 38 points, grabbed 11 boards and was just 2 assists shy of a triple double with 8 dimes.

Troughout the game it was Miami that was leading by mostly double figures as they had their biggest lead in the 3th quarter as they led the Lakers by 17 points, but LA wouldnt give it up just like that. The Lakers fought their way back in the game as they came from being behing by 17, to being up by 1 point late in the final quarter. Shaquille O'Neal was fouled on a shot attempt and he made 1 out of 2 free throws. Devean George who made 2 straight three-point shots earlier, missed his third attempt as the Heat got the rebound and were able to score on a 3-point basket by Dwyane Wade with 16 seconds left. Lamar Odom tried to draw the defenders and pass it out, but the ball was reflected by Shaquille O'Neal as Eddie Jones picked up the lose ball to get the 3 point win.

The Miami Heat expanded their winning streak to 6 games, as the Lakers sufferd once again another away loss which makes it a 2-6 record on the road. The Lakers will play the #1 team in the NBA Sacramento Kings on the road tomorrow. The Heat and Lakers will meet eachother on 03/01/2005 as the Lakers will host the Heat at Staples Center.

LA Lakers 109, Atlanta 84
Laker win 2 in a row against Hawks

LOS ANGELES, Sun. 28 Nov (Ticker) -- After beating the Atlanta Hawks by 10 points on Thursday in Atlanta, the Lakers decided to do the same on Sunday as they defeated the Hawks with a 109-84 score.

Kobe Bryant played a good game on the offensive end as he scored 35 on a 13-24 shooting performance, and collected 7 assists to lead his team over the struggling Atlanta Hawks. After having 1 assist shy of a triple double on Thursday, Lamar Odom had another good all-around game as he scored 27 points on 12-17 shooting, and grabbed 13 boards to go with 5 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocked shots.

Lamar Odom started the game on a spectaculair way, as Caron Butler missed a 16 footer but Odom was there to slam it back home to start the game stylish. Bryant scored 11 of his 35 points in the opening quarter as he knocked down a three pointer to beat the buzzer after the first quarter.

The Hawks had a hard time finding their shots, as their guards Jon Barry and Kenny Anderson combined to make just 2 out of 21 shots trough the game. Antoine Walker was having a good game in the post as he powerd his way against the less strong Lamar Odom to the rim to draw the foul. Walker only made 6 Free-Throw shots from his 15 attempts however. Walker also led the team in assists as he collected 5, but it wasnt enough to give the Hawks a win over the Lakers, who are looking to expand their winning streak to 3 games as they face the Miami Heat for the first time this season on Tuesday during Retro Night.

The Lakers won the season series against the Hawks as they won both games last tuesday and this one. They will meet eachother as early as next season unless they will make the NBA Finals, which seems to be a goal that might be out of reach.

LA Lakers 101, Atlanta 91
Lamar Odom leads Lakers past Hawks

ATLANTA, Thu. 25 (Ticker) -- Many believed that behind Kobe Bryant, the Lakers roleplayers are as weak as evey. Tonight Lamar Odom showed his opinion about this statement.

Lamar Odom scored a season high 32 points to go with 14 boards and 9 assists, just 1 assist shy of his first triple double of the season. Odom started the game being on fire as he scored the Lakers first 7 points as he only missed 1 field goal attempt an finished the quarter with 13 points. Lamar Odom had no problem playing against the smaller but stronger Antoine Walker in the lowpost, as the Lakers kept feeding him the ball and he made sure that something good came out of it. The Lakers took a 20-9 lead midway the first quarter, but allowed the Hawks to make a small 7-0 run as they finished the quarter with a 22-16 score.

Kobe Bryant had a hard time finding his shot as he made just 8 out of his 22 field goal attempts including 1 from 8 behind the three-point line. However, the Lakers didnt seem to struggle that much with a cold Kobe Bryant when Lamar Odom finished the first half with 23 points and 7 boards while his season avarage is 13.0 ppg and 8.6 rpg.

Besides Odom, Caron Butler also had a huge game as he was the only player besides Odom to score 20 points. Butler shot 9 from 11 from the field and connected on 2 of his 3 three-point attempts.

The Lakers will face the Atlanta Hawks once again on Sunday, as this will be the last time both teams will meet eachother this season unless both somehow make their way to the finals.

Denver 86, LA Lakers 82
Nuggets end losing streak

DENVER, Wed. 24 (Ticker) -- After losing the last 4 games against the Los Angeles Lakers, and being defeated by at least 24 points the last 2 games, the Denver Nuggets finaly picked their game up and showed the Lakers that they can beat them.

As Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points to lead his Denver Nuggets to a 86-82 win. The Lakers started the game strong by making as many as 9 shots in a row, but as the Denver Nuggets picked up their defense they had a hard time to score a basket. Most of the first quarter points came off Lakers star Kobe Bryant who scored 11 points of his 30 total points in the opening quarter to go with a season high 10 rebounds. Caron Butler led the Lakers in rebounding as he also reached a season high but got 13 boards.

The game was pretty much tied late in the fourth quarter, as every ball possesion was important to get or remain a lead. Voshon Lenard was struggling to find his shot troughout the game, but made a big three-point basket when the Denver Nuggets were behind by 2 points to get a 1 point lead over the Lakers. After the Lakers missed a shot on the next ball posession, Carmelo Anthony was fouled on the play and mist his last free-throw. But Kenyon Martin was there for a offensive rebound and dunked it back in to get a 4 point lead over the surprised Lakers.

The Lakers are now 1-5 for their away games, and lost 2 straight games as the Kings beat them on Sunday by as many as 18 points. They face 2 away games this month as they play the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow and the Miami Heat on Tuesday during retro night as Shaq and Kobe play their first game against each other during their NBA career.

Sacramento 104, LA Lakers 86
Kings get Lakers back

SACRAMENTO, Sun. 21 (Ticker) -- After losing against the Lakers 7 days ago by 20 points. The Sacramento Kings made sure that wouldnt happen again.

As the Sacramento Kings defeated the Los Angeles Lakers with a 104-86 score. Chris Webber led all scorers with 21 points as he scored 11 in the first quarter and grabbed 8 boards. Mike Bibby who sufferd a shoulder injury against the Los Angeles Clippers the night before the game, was still playable and it didnt seem that the injury was bothering him that much as he scored 17 points in limited 20 minutes to go with a team high 4 assists.

Bibby was replaced by Bobby Jackson early in the game as he sored 15 points off the bench, including some big shots when the Lakers were on a scoring run. Most of his points game from outisde jumpers which the Lakers had a hard time to defend tonight. Doug Christie played a excellent game with 14 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. He also gave Kobe a hard time to score as he forced him to shoot 10 from 28 from the field, including 3 from 9 from behind the three-point line.

The Kings started the game by feeding the ball to Chris Webber in the low post to draw the foul plus the basket 2 times in a row. Brian Grant quickly got 2 fouls and was forced to leave the court. Rudy Tomnjanovich decided to start Lamar Odom at the Small Forward and Brian Grant at the Power forward to give Chris Webber a strong defender in Brian Grant and Peja Stojakovic a tall defender in Lamar Odom. Although Stojakovic didnt seemed to have a hard time against Odom as he shot 6 from 8 around the field and made all 4 of his Three-Point attempts

The Kings beat the Lakers for the third straight time at the Arco Arena, and continue to have the best record in the NBA with 11 wins and just 2 losses against the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers just last week at the Staples Center.

Lakers win in blowout style

LOS ANGELES, Sat. 20 (Ticker) -- The Nuggets didnt seem to be a big treath to the Lakers the last 2 times both teams have met.

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Lakers by 32 points with a 116-84 score. This is not the first blowout win for the Lakers this season as tey played the Nuggets on the season opener and beat Denver by 24 points with a 100-76 score.

Lamar Odom played his best game of the season as he led the Lakers in scoring and rebounding with 29 points and 11 boards. Odom also collected 4 assists and made all of his 3 three-point field goal attempts. Lakers star Kobe Bryant missed his first 7 shots of the game, but was able to get his first 2 points by hitting 2 Free Throws.

The Lakers picked up their offense and defense in the second half, and were able to get various scoring runs against the Nuggets who only scored 13 points in the fourth quarter while the Lakers added 32. The Lakers had a single digit lead in the final quarter, but were able to make it into a 10 point lead midway the final quarter. Denver had a hard time to stop the Lakers who kept hitting the midrange jumper and quickly were behind by as many as 30 points. Vlade Divac had a good game coming off the bench by making his lowpost shots and playing good defense as he collected 2 blocked shots and scored 12 points.

The Lakers beat the Nuggets for the second straight time and will meet again in Denver on Wednesday, as the Lakers are looking to get their third win against the Nuggets this season.

Amare Stoudemire was giving the Lakers a hard time in the post as he grabbed 7 offensive boards from his total of 13 rebounds, which followed by a easy put back basket.

He missed the Free-Throw however and Joe Johnson missed a tipin and gave the ball to the Lakers. Bryant made a big Three to tie the game with just a little more then a minute left in the game, but it couldnt give the Lakers a win as they lost their third straight away game.

Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson and Quentin Richardson played a big role late in the fourth as all players connected on most of their Field Goals in that period to come back into the game when the Lakers had a late 7-0 minu run. The level of the dynasties have gone up a couple of notches! Solid presentation. Good Luck with this team. So you gonna kiss Kobe's ass or you gonna show him who's team this is? Good luck with Odom's and Kobe's ego trips.

Thanks alot, Im a detail ho so everything has to be perfect (Y)

Nah, on the "virtual court" Im not a Kobe jocker, never been on the Live series, I will just do that off the court  . I just want to play as realistic as possible, involve other players not just 1 or 2. Its going to be fun with this deep roster.

cocobee said it right, the level of dynasties has definetly gone up. already there is 2 of them i was following closely, then the forum had problems, hopefully those 2 get updated again soon. this one i am definetly going to take note of, despite my hatred for the lakers lol. i like your starting lineup, its how i would go also. your bench 5 might differ from mine though as i would use mihm, grant, walton, george, rush in that order. i always run a 10 man rotation max. i admit to having subbed in the 11th and 12th man before just to get the big bonus for scoring with every player on the team but to me it killed the realism so i stopped. keep it up and lets hope we actually get the game tuesday.

I dont have a bench rotation yet, this order is just based on the positions they play. By the way, thanks for reminding me that you can have 12 players playable on the roster every game, for a minute I thought it was 15. I will adjust the roster right now and put 3 players on the IL, I eventually might cut a player or 2 off the roster, but this will be the starting roster.
