Miami Heat Dynasty Season 2003-2004 Record: 7-2 Pics as well

Tue May 25, 2004 5:03 pm

I've started a dynasty with the Miami Heat, real rosters.

My Settings:

Superstar
My own sliders
Andrews Rosters, with some adjustments.
3-3-3-3 Playoff format
12 min quarters

Preseason Moves

With the arrival of new Miami Heat GM Match_66, there were plenty of trade rumors in the air. But the trade that got everyone talking was a sign and trade deal with the Detroit Pistons.

Miami Signed the up and coming Qyntel Woods for the minimum and then after much haggling ended up sending Woods and Veteren Guard Eddie Jones to Detroit for SG Rip Hamilton and F Corliss Williamson.

Lamar Odom welcomes flashy new guard Rip Hamilton to the Heat

When asked about his motivations behind the trade GM Match_66 replied: "Eddie had worked really well here for the Heat, but the team is changing, Eddie was becoming more of a role player, and we needed a scorer. Rip is and excellent running player who has an incredibel mid range jumper and can catch and shoot very well. We wish Eddie all the best, and hope he can achieve to his grreat potential in Detroit"

"We will miss Rip, but Eddie gives some more atletiscim in the guard position. Also Rip is a scorer and with Sheed and Chuncy as well as Tay, we needed more of a role player who can step up when needed but be happy taking less shots, Eddie is the perfect fit for that place in our team"- Pistons Head Coach Larry Brown.

The Heat made one other move during the preseason this time involving only bench players. The Heat sent Samaki Walker and John Wallace to New York for G/F Shandon Anderson.

"We did give up some size off our bench, but we were never going to be a big team, i thought it was more important for us to improve our defence in the swing man area. Shandon is the answer to that problem" - GM Match_66.

November 1st 7:00pm

1-0 Atlanta Hawks @ 0-0 Miami Heat

Pre-Game

Tonight is the first game of the season for the new look Heat, Atlanta wont be the best challange for the Heat, but will provide a good game for the team to see how they are going to play together this season.

"We hope to see how the team is going to gell tonight, with Lamar, Dwyane and Rip new to the team its going to be like we are an expansion team" - Heat GM Match_66

Starting Line-ups:

Heat
F:Caron Butler
F:Lamar Odom
C:Brian Grant
G:Rip Hamilton
G:Dwyane Wade

Hawks
F:Stephen Jackson
F:Alan Henderson
C:Mamadou N'Diaye
G:Borris Diaw
G:Jason Terry

The first quarter started out as everyone had predicted, with the Heat taking a strong lead behind some solid all round play from the whole team, especially on defense. The Heat used some good defense to fuel a good transiton quarter. Brian Grant was showing some good leadership and all round play to lead the Heat into the second up 23-12 behind a 2p 3ast 4rebnd quarter.

The second quarter saw Miami bring out some of its lesser experienced bench players to let them build up a solid understanding. But it was Shandon Anderson that was simply on fire for the Heat. Finally getting some game time with 8 minutes remaining in the quarter, Anderson proceeded to ingnite the Heat starting a 12-4 run scoring 10 of those points himself. The Heat let the Hawks play a little better on the offensive end but matched that when they had the ball.

Half Time Score: 49-33 Heat Lead

The third quarter started out with the Miami starters running out to a 30 point lead, behind some stunning play on both ends from Dwyane Wade. The Hawks managed to collect themselves and went on a 12-0 run at the end of the quarter to pull the scores a little closer. Wade was well on his way to triple double by the end of the quarter with 10 points 7rebounds and 8 assists.

The fourth was basicly both teams jsut running through the motions, giving the fans something to cheer about with some nice fast break plays by the Heat, and Atlanta actually shooting very well from downtown, but in the end it was Miami who came out with the very convincing lead.

End Score 104-76 Heat Win

In a recent matchup between Indiana and Dallas, Jermaine O'Neal had 42 points, 11 rebounds 2 blocks and 3 asssists in a losing effort, while Dirk Nowitski led the Mavs with 31 points 8 rebounds 3 assists to the 114-105 victory.

The big debate going around Miami is "Who is the Heats Leader?" Many have said it has to be Brian Grant, or until he left, Eddie Jones, but one who has been over looked is rookie Dwyane Wade. Wade led his Marquette team to the Final Four, last season and if he can adjust to his NBA career he will be a sure candidate for leader of his team.

Nice picture! If only I knew how to do that...

Thu May 27, 2004 3:19 pm

I just used Photoshop, selected Wade then changed to the inverse of the selection, then changed color to black and white.

Right sorry i havent updated in ages guys. Ive been pretty busy and when i have had spare time ive jst played the games and havent got rnd to posting.

So anyway this post will have the results of the months November and December.

November - December Report.

With the Heat having won their first game of the season against a weak Atlanta Hawks team, they then had to head to Texas to face the reigning champions the San Antonio Spurs. This would be the first real challenge for the young Heat Squad.

Novemeber 2 7:00pm
1-0 Miami Heat @ 1-0 San Antonio Spurs

The Heat were the under dogs in this game, Youth vs Experience and Title vs No Title, but the young team suprised the Spurs by matching them at every facet of the game. At the end of the first the Spurs had not managed to find any way to pull away form the Heat with the scores tied at 26 all. The game was relativley close throughout, except for a 10-0 run by miami to put them up 75-56 at one stage. The Spurs fougth back however and Miami was once again trailing with 3 minutes left, but he Heat pulled out another run to take a 6 point win on the road.

Final Score: 102-96 Win
POG: Lamar Odom 24p 9rebs 1blk 2asts

Novemeber 3rd 1:30pm

The next game saw Miami return home to host the Boston Celtics, this game was won by Miami in a incredibly high scoring affair.*

Final Score 140-117 Win

November 4 7:30pm

It was announced before the game today that the Heat had traded C Brian Grant and F Corliss Williamson to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for F Nene .
"We are a young team and i intened to make it more so, Brian was a great player for the Heat, but like Eddie he was not fitting into the new offense that we run. Nene is young and athletic with piles of potential." Miami GM Match_66.

The starting line up was also re arranged:
C: Nene Hilario
PF: Lamar Odom
SF: Rip Hamilton
SG: Dwyane Wade
PG: Rafer Alston

Caron Butler was moved to the bench but should be expected to see jst as much, if not more court time under the new rotation.

Image

Shooter McCraken on the new Heat Lineup:
"Getting Nene has made this team possibly the most athletic team in the league next to Phoenix. Wade is undersized at the two guard but he makes up for this with his power and athletiscim. Butler sholdnt be dissapointed being moved to 6th man, it suits his playing style and now he is in with a huge chance for 6th man of the year, look for his numbers to improve especially his scoring."

3-0 Miami Heat @ 0-2 Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls came out in this game and took the Heat by supprise, the Heat could always say they were adjusting to the new player and line-up but it was really poor defense that had them behind 26-16 at the end of the first. However what ever it was that was said in the huddle sure got the Heat firing in the second, they played stellar D to hold the bulls to 9 points for the quarter to take a 48-35 lead into the half. The Heat took the risk of trying some new offense, reulting in the Bulls catching up but the Heat had the killer instinct in the end to take tha game 96-81.

Odom may be one of the best players in the post this season so far, but he still has trouble against the Big boys

End of Novemeber Schedule for Heat.

Wade Report by SHooter McCraken:
"Wade has been playing incredible for a rookie so far this season, easily the stand out for the blazing Heat. Despite Wades stellar play he has been snubbed for Rookie of the month, the award instead going to the hyped up 18 year old LeBron James. Wade's stat line is easily better than James'; Wade 20.2ppg 12.0apg 8.0rpg 1.0bpg 2.0spg James 15.4ppg 5.6apg 8.8rpg 0.8bpg 1.0spg while the Cavs are 3-4 and the Heat are 4-0."

December 2 7:30pm

4-0 Miami Heat @ 3-3 Milwaukee Bucks

The Heat came into this game having had the perfect November going 4-0. But the Buck were not about to back down. Two very similar teams the game was set to be excititng.

The Bucks came out to prove that they are still out there in the East. And they deffinately were noticed by the Heat. The Bucks led form the start and never looked back. This game wasnt a blowout as the Heat looked very confident as if they were just waiting for the right moment to strike. But when the moment came in the 4th, the Heat just couldn't deliver.

Final Score: 105-95 Heat Lose

POG: Michael Redd 24p 5rebs 3stl 7TO 5ast

Caron Butler and Dwyane Wade have been pleasing crowds all over the country with their high flying fast break finishes. Top votes to these two for most entertaining duo

After the game the Heat announced they had accepted a blockbuster trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The sent Heat Star Lamar Odom and Rasual Butler to the Wolves in exchange for C Michael Olowokandi, G/F Wally Scerzbiak and Veteran F Vin Baker.
"Lamar's gap will be hard to fill, we never intended losing him, but this offer was too good to ignore, we have increased our bench value massivley with this trade, and altough our front court is weakend our back court is a lot stonger." Heat GM Match_66

Shooter McCraken on the trade:
"This trade will be talked about for ages, the Heat lose their most hyped player while they gain a true center so Nene can play power foward and also get a solid veteran looking to prove himself and a dead eye shooter. I wouldn't expect to see the line up change much except Kandi will start at center and Nene will play the 4. I think this trade was worth it. The Heat need another shooter besides Skip, to pull them through when they need some 3's, such as the game against the Bucks, plus they now have one of the deepest benches in the league."

December 3rd 7:30pm

4-1 Miami Heat @ 3-2 Phoenix Suns

This was set to be the war of athletiscm, these two teams are debatedly the most athletic in the league.

This game was a dissapointment for the crowds, both teams were shooting high FG% but playing great D reducing the amount of shots the other team got. The game was very close except for one factor; FT's the Heat sunk 24 while the suns only had 4. Credit to Rip Hamilton for winning the game for the Heat sinking 16 FT's to his name.

Final Score: 97-80 Heat Win

POG: Rip Hamilton 38p 16/17 FT 6rebs 3stls 2asts

Image

Shooter McCraken on Rip's 16FT night:
"Tonight Rip showed why the Heat traded for him. He may not be the best player with the ball, but when he is moving without it he is possibly the best player in the league. Tonight he was always in a position to recieve the ball and either score or get fouled trying. The Suns were crying."

December 5th 7:00pm

5-1 Miami Heat @ 2-3 Denver Nuggets

This game was a chance for Brian Grant to show why he shouldnt have been traded. Grant who had been traded earlier in the season by the Heat for Nene, was to come off the bench as 6th man for the Nuggets. The Heat had a stroke of luck at the start of the first quarter, managing to injure rookie start Carmelo Anthony. But the game still remained close, the lead exchanged hands at least 10 times in this gmae but the last hand over was in Miami's favour. Some strong 4th quarter heroics form Dwyane Wade saw a 8 point nugget lead turn into a 8 point nugget defecit.

Final Score: 100-92 Miami Win

POG: Dwyane Wade 35p 7rebs 3stls 4asts

Shooter McCraken on Wades 35 point night:
"Wade has been quite of late, doing his job quietly and leaving most of the shots for Rip and Butler. But what people miss is that Wade is still averaging 17ppg shooitng 55% from the field. Tonight Wade didnt even have to shoot much more than usual, he just got hot from down town and managed to get some key offensive boards. I would expect to see a few more of these nights from Wade this season, he will always step up when Rip isnt his ususal scoring self."

December 9th 7:00pm

7-5 Jazz @ 6-1 Heat

The Jazz came into this game as another supprising team for the new season. Currently on a 5 game winning streak the Jazz had two starters in the MVP race, Kirilenko with his great hustle and all round skills and supprisingly Carlos Arroyo, even though his nimbers dont really compare to any of the top point guards he has still been leading his team well from the point.

The Jazz didnt do justice to their reputation at all, the Heat held Utah to a lowly 12 points in the first quarter, and half those points were due to deffensive mix ups from the Heat. The first quarter set the tone for the game and the Jazz were never in with a chance suffering a confidence cruching 50 point loss.

Image
Now where have we seen this before

Final Score 117-67 Heat Win

POG: Rip Hamilton 53p 23/34 8rebs 1stl 6asts

Shooter McCraken on Rip Hamilton:
"Rip showed the league tonight how much he has improved his game this season. Not only has he taken on the role as go-to-guy for the Heat he has also taken on the role of team leader. Tonights 53 point display was made even better with Rip maanging to fill out the rest of his stat line nicely 8 rebounds and 6 assists while still tkaing 34 shots is a pretty good
effort, and to make it even more imprssive he only played 32 minutes. Most Improved Player anyone??"

December 29th 7:30pm

3-3 LA Lakers @ 7-1 Miami Heat

This was the first big game for the Heat since their encounter with San Antonio. The Lakers who are the early favourites for the title this year posed a huge threat for the Heat who have already lost one game this month and would like to finish December on a good note.

The Lakers started out dominating, not Shaq, not Kobe, not the Glove but the Mailman taught the young Miami front court of Nene and Kandiman how to play some real inside ball. The Heat managed to get Kobe into some foul trouble for the most of the game but he still managed to hurt them when he was on the court. Miami managed to et out to an 11 point lead at one stage, but once Kobe came back on the Heat could not do a thing.

Image
Welcome to my house, wait this is your house

Final Score: 113-95 Heat Lose

POG: Malone 20p 13 rebs 2stl 1blk 4ast

Shooter McCraken on the Mailmans performance:
"Malone showed us why he is still one of the top fowards in this league. If he was playing in a purple singlet tonight i would have thought i had gone back in time a few years. Malone even managed a spark of athleticsm with a huge put back dunk, i mean the guy has been in this league for 18 years and he is still getting up there. Top marks to Malone, poor effort from Nene and Kandi."

The Heat finish the first two months of the season with a record of 7-2, good enough for best in the East, but one must wonder how the Heat will perfrom agaisnt teams like Sac-Town and Dallas, and if this incredible play can continue.

Image
T-Mac and Vince, arguably the two best players in the league at the moment. Vince leads the league in scoring with 29ppg and has led his Raps to 2nd in the East with a 5-2 record, while T-Mac is the top MVP candidate with 26ppg 9rpg and 6apg, the Magic are however only one game over .500 with a 6-5 record.

* This game was pathetic, both teams shot over 70% for the first quarter so i thought stuff it and went nuts and bet the cpu at its own game.

Sun Jun 06, 2004 8:01 pm

love the Dynasty mate it was a good trade bring in Rip and Big Nasty but i wouldnt of traded Williamson however good Nene is.
love the pics keep the updates coming.

Mon Jun 07, 2004 9:11 am

Thanks for the good words dude. I'm really enjoying doing this dynasty, its pretty fun doing the pics.

BTW i'm thinking about doing what Cocobee did in his one and put some NLSC players in my draft at the end of this season. If i keep playing at this pace i should be at the rookie draft in the next month at least.

I would need people with cyber faces though.

Thu Jun 10, 2004 4:05 pm

So is there anyone who wants to be in my Dynasty, besides Cocobee (still need his art)???

Thu Jun 10, 2004 5:04 pm

Real nice dynasty. I've been thinking of starting one with the Heat. Great pictures.
