Depth is the key as Magic go down fighting!

After some big changes were made to the Knicks line-up for the new look season, it seemed highly unlikely for the Orlando Magic to come up big on the first night of the season, the only hope they had was that either Starbury got injured or the Knicks would not function properly, they got neither as the result shows. Tim Thomas and Stephon Marbury gave their Knicks fans something to look forward to in season 04, whilst the for the Magic there is hope but as this stage improvement is needed.

Result: Orlando Magic 77 @ New York Knicks 84

This game was played at a high level, both teams were slowly tieing each other down as the game wore on. Shots were becoming harder and harder to hit, whilst the big name players tried desperatly to lift the tempo in the last half of the game it was to no use. Marbury had 21 for his Knicks debut, whilst TMAC had 24 for the Magic.

Team Stats:
FG: Magic 32/77 .416, Knicks 36/86 .419
3pt: Magic 5/15, Knicks 5/20
Rebs: Magic 47, Knicks 36

Player Stats
Knicks:
Marbury 21pts, 6ass (POTG)
Mutombo 10pts, 10rebs, 2blks

Suprise Player: Tim Thomas 16pts, 5rebs, 2ass

Magic:
TMAC 24pts, 7rebs, 4stls, 2blks
Lue 13pts, 5rebs, 3ass

Surpise Player: Drew Gooden 4pts, 11rebs, 2blks in only 17mins of play.

After Match:
Tracy McGrady described this game as "a learning curve for the young guys", speaking as a leader, TMAC will raise the spirits of his fellow teammates in an attempt to get a win at home tomorow night.

"their an awesome team they gonna be hard to stop once there setup is in full flight, i dont care who you are you wont beat that team " said Juwan Howard of the Orlando Magic.

Sun Mar 14, 2004 5:04 pm

So close, but yet so far!
New Orleans (0-1) @ Orlando (0-1)

After both teams suffered defeats on the opening night of the season, it wasnt hard to figure out that both teams were looking regain some must needed confidence to kick start their seasons.
New Orleans owuld go into this match favourite and deservingly so, having Baron, PJ, Mags and Mash in the swing why wouldnt they??

Result: New Orleans 94 @ Orlando Magic 93 OT

This game had everything, including a big buzzer beater at the end of the fourth term from TMAC which sent the game in overtime, he hit a three with 0.2 seconds left to tie the game on 83 each. Through out the contest the Hornets appeared to have the game under control, several times the lead went into double figures, but the Steven Hunter led Magic came hard in the last term. Hunter had 4 blocks shots in the final term, keeping the Hornets to just 14 last quarter pts. Gooden again brilliant off the bench with 12pts and 10 boards.

Team Stats:
FG: Magic 40/83, Hornets 40/99
3pt: Magic 6/14, Hornets 5/31
Rebs: Magic 49, Hornets 45

Player Stats
Knicks:
Mashburn 33pts, 8rebs (POTG)
Davis 14pts, 4ass, 4stls

Suprise Player: Darrel Armstrong 16pts, 4rebs, 5ass

Magic:
TMAC 31pts, 8rebs, 2stls, 2blks
Lue 9pts, 3rebs, 11ass

Surpise Player: Steven Hunter 12pts, 7rebs, 7blks.

After Match:
Steven Hunter described on describing his game tonight "you know we lost tonight but to be honest, i played well, the team played well, we fought hard, they are a very good bunch players. We neally got em in overtime but just missed out. TMAC was a hit tonight what a star, that shot was amazing"

"I wouldnt be standing here right now with a grin on my face if had of lost that one, i thought we had em covered all night, but to their credit they were able to fight back, but we were good enough to hang on in overtime" said Baron Davis after the match.

A couple of tough games but it is a learning curve and iam sure you will put some big wins together (Y)

Mon Mar 15, 2004 6:30 am

I like your dynasty, because your staying with your true team. It is a much tougher task when you dont make a bunch of trades. Keep it up, but I would try to make some realistic deals that would get you a PG or a C. I think the Magic need a PG more anyway because Hunter can block shots on the game.

Mon Mar 15, 2004 4:09 pm

yeh i dont really change my line-ups that much i like to just play and see how my players improve over periods of time. Thanks for the compliments guys. :D

Umm im really after a PG anyone got an idea of who i should get??

Mon Mar 15, 2004 4:24 pm

Yeah you should go for Andre Miller, he would fit in well i think

Mon Mar 15, 2004 10:05 pm

Wowzee!! Love ur dynasty, can any1 suggest me what team i should take?Im choosing from PHX, DET or IND??

Tue Mar 16, 2004 12:22 am

Phoenix, it's great watching Stoudemire play & having Marion on the team. (Y)

Tue Mar 16, 2004 12:31 am

i started with miami but i will do one with phx!

Tue Mar 16, 2004 7:59 am

Yea you need a PG that doesnt mind passing the ball to T-Mac and will give it to the big men like Howard and Gooden. Andre Miller is a great choice, but there is no way you would be able to get him with the kinda team you have not unless the deal was wop sided. I think you should go after Jason Terry, because in my ATL dynasty he is one of the best PG's you can ask for. I love his game. :D

Average Joe's lead way but still no spark from stars!
Detroit Pistons (1-1) @ Orlando Magic (0-2)

Coming up against the Detroit Pistons was never gonna be easy for a Magic line-up which doesnt really have any spark in it at the moment. With Sheed and Big Ben to stop, who on the Magic roster could possibly defensively stop those two big fellas?? The average players shone for the Magic whilst the more talented ones didnt. Desmond Penniger and Steven Hunter both providing osme bright lights for the Magic with encouraging individual games.

Result: Detroit Pistons 93 @ Orlando Magic 91

This game was played at a high level, both teams were slowly tieing each other down as the game wore on. Shots were becoming harder and harder to hit, whilst the big name players tried desperatly to lift the tempo in the last half of the game it was to no use. Shandon Stops TMAC, as Magic faulter again!
New York Knicks (2-0) @ Orlando Magic (0-3)

Tonight we see a rematch of the opening game of the season with the Knicks highly rated to win this one, we see a young Magic outfit growing by the day, edging closer to a win. Could tonight be the night?? Will Magic big name players like TMAc, Howard and Lue come to the aid of the younger players? Tonight Shandon Anderson gets the job on TMAc in what should be a very interesting match-up.

Result: New York 94 @ Orlando Magic 93

Recap:
The first quarter seen things take a turn for the worse for the Magic, with the Knicks oging on a 10-2 run to start off the game. They would eventually sound out the quarter with a handy 26-20 lead.

In the second the Magic took charger and had a 5 pts lead late in it. But some silly offensive plays by the Magic, aloud the Knicks to fight back and take a 54-51 lead. Hunter had 16pts for the Magic whilst Mutombo had 10 for the Knicks.

The Knicks took control here, going on a 14-0 run, leading 69-53 at one stage. To the Magic's credit they were able to fight bak hard. Howard, Strickland and Stevenson came out firing during this period. Anderson blocked TMAC's 3 pts attempt with 5.4 secs left to give the Knicks a handy 79-73 lead going into the last.

Lead swapped over here many times, Marbury was buried by Lue in this quarter, Lue hitting several shots to go for 8 in the final period, he ended with 18 in the match, compared to Marbury's 10pt effort. But the Knicks would take the win thanks to Tracy McGrady's missed 12 foot jumper(open shot) in the lane with 1.2 secs left. Knicks win 94-93

Sat Mar 20, 2004 11:52 pm

Changes must be made as Magic still winless!
Chicago Bulls (1-3) @ Orlando Magic (0-4)

Two young sides battle it out here, the exciting Bulls led by Curry and Hinrich will be out to make the Magic horror start to the season continue, whilst guys like Steven Hunter, Desmond Penniger and Gooden continue to put pressure on their opponents. Look out for a TMAC night out, or maybe Scottie Pippen can tun back the clock and have a night out.

Result: Chicago 92 @ Orlando Magic 90

Recap:
The Orlando Magic played its most encouraging quarter of the season as Lue dished out several passes whilst TMAc was hitting shots. Though Edd Curry was to prove a little hard to handle. Magic led 27-18.

In the second the Magic lost their early lead and were forced to catch the hard running Bulls, who were led by the old timer Scottie Pippen who racked in 11 first half pts to lead his beloved Bulls. Whilst for the Magic TMac had 14 at the break. Bulls 47-46

Bulls take control, Magic make a comeback superbally led by Drew Gooden. Grabbing several offensive boards and making a couple of key shots to put them back in the game. Jamal Crawford's defensive efforts in this period were first class. Bulls lead 70-69.

Several easy shots go missing for the Magic in the final minutes of the game, although behind most of the quarter, the Magic deserved to win this one. But the Bulls were able to hit some very tough shots to nail the win. Bulls win 92-90

With Magic Gm Redenbach " we will be making some changes, we probably lack another big man, and also we need a very pure shooter, we arnt circling anyone as of yet but guys like Van Horn, Alan Housten and Abdur Rahim are in the mi of who we would like. This franchise isnt struggling, we are just rebuilding."

Sun Mar 21, 2004 8:45 am

You really don't need Houston because he is a SG and that's Tmac position. I like Van Horn and Rahim though. I think Rahim would look better in a Magic jersey than Van Horn though. I think you really need to go for Rahim.

Sun Mar 21, 2004 9:26 am

Rahim would be my choice too. Perhaps because I just dislike Keith Van Horn.

Oh, and thinking about getting Alan Houston is a big no no. Just a mediocre player with a huge salary. Not to mention he's getting old. If you want a pure shooter, Lenard might be a good choice or Pejda if you can throw the Kings Howard as SF & a few other scrubs. This way you have a pure (three) shooter at SF + McGrady at SG. This wouldnt be too bad, if that's what you want.

But, in Live 2004, it's important to have a decent big man, so first try Rahim, this way you might get a inside-outside game.

Thu Mar 25, 2004 9:53 pm

Will this move come at a cost or it just a stepping stone to something big!
Magic strike a deal with Portland...

After serious thought Magic GM Redenbach has decided to make his first move. Although they had made their intentions clear of getting a scoring big man like Rahim, the Blazers simply would not budge. So the Magic were forced to turn to the PG position and it turned out to be Blazers little man Damon Stoudamire. Whilst the Magic were forced to deal their main bait Juwan Howard and Tyrone Lue. (it was later confirmed that Howard would go into the Back-up Centre postion, whilst Lue would Start at the Point) They believe they came out on top of this one.

The Trade:

Magic Trades...

PF Juwan Howard 9ppg, 10.6 rpg, 1.2 bpg
PG Tyrone Lue 12ppg, 6.4 apg, 2.0 spg
SF Desomond Penigar 1.2 rpg, 1.2 spg, 2.0 apg

to Portland for...

SF Darius Miles 8ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1 bpg
PG Damon Stoudamire 5.8 ppg, 3.5 apg, 2.2 rpg

After the trade was made we caught up with Magic GM Redenbach, " look we are struggling atm, but now i think we can get a winning team on court, Gooden will start at PF in place of Juwan, Bogans will go to the bench and Darius will start at the 3. Whilst Damon will slide into our Point Guard nicely. Its as simple as that."

Magic's New Line-Up:

C - Steven Hunter
PF - Drew Gooden
SF - Darius Miles
SG - Tracy McGrady
PG - Damon Stoudamire

Thu Mar 25, 2004 11:26 pm

man...i taotally enjoy reading ur dynasty...feels like reading a paper...anyway...i dont really think u should chose miles..coz he is not a very good shooter to me...and his speed is not very fast..so it would be hard for penetration..well anyway..thats my point of view anyway..for small foward..i would rather choose..erm...can we like use shawn marion?

Thu Mar 25, 2004 11:53 pm

I see youre having a tough season with your injury-plagued Magic. I hate to blow ur bubble but i think you just made a blunder from getting Darius Miles. I would've gone for R. Patterson instead of Miles. Miles isn't a good mid-range shooter in real life how much more in Live 2004. His explosiveness is in his great leaping ability. Your only face-saving reason here is that the Magic doesn't need another shooter who needs a lotta touches more than TMac do. He's a good backup though, for TMac.
Hope you can prove me wrong. :) Good Luck!

Fri Mar 26, 2004 1:19 pm

To go against the flow i think it wasnt too bad a deal, Miles has come up big for me in my Phoenix Dynasty, you just got to know when to use him, he will never be your go to guy, or even second maybe even thrid scorer, hes got pretty good all rnd skills apart fomr shooting, dnt knwo bout gettign mighty mouse tho, well have to wait and see how he pays out :D

Clutch Performance by Spree steals show from Magic!
Minnosota TimberWolves (4-1) @ Orlando Magic (0-5)

Pre-Game Newswire:
After 5 straight losses Magic must confront one of the best teams going around atm. With KG, Spree and Cassell all on fire atm the Magic would really have to play above their expectations here to have any sort of chance. Tonight we see Damon and Darius in their new uniforms for the first time, will it effect the Magic line-up, will they play as one?? The Wolves certainly and deservingly go into this one as favourites, but don't forgot tonight the Magic have a new look team..

Result: Minnosota T-Wolves 94 @ Orlando Magic 93

Recap:
From the start of the game i could tell that Spree would be unstoppable tonight, hitting 4 3's in the first term made me realise that, even shooting over Steven Hunter twice and scoring big 3's. The wolves jumped to a 27-21 lead.

The wolves broke away here with KG and TMAC both quiet as the other key players took the game by the scruff for the Wolves. Spree and Cassell both having big games, whilst Darius playing great D for the Magic. 52-44 Wolves lead.

Gary Trent hits a 3 somehow here for the Wolves, everything going right for them. This time its Wally makin the big 3's, whils tt he Magic were missing several lay-ups (Ahermm. Sean Rooks, youre so crap). Sorry had to put that in as i wasnt happy with him here, benched him for the rest of the game, although he did have 8 boards to finish with. Wolves 77-59.

Magic right back in it here, Damon Stoudamire take a bow, brilliant while TMAc went missing here. Damon hit a couple of big three's here, he had 11 last quarter pts, got the Magic in front 93 - 92, but a 15ft fade away jumper from Spree putthe Wolves in front with 7.2 secs left. This time it would be Drew Gooden missing a simple lay-up with 0.8 secs left to finish the game and hand the win to the Wolves. 94-93.

With Magic Gm Redenbach who had a little smile on his face " um guys i think its coming together, the way we played in that last quarter, was good enough to beat anyone in the league. We now have the line-up i think, i hear you guys picking on Darius, you wonder why we got him?? Well this guy can defend and 6 stls and 4 blks, now thats an effort and the thing is he will get better, trust me on that one!"

Sat Mar 27, 2004 12:18 am

hehehe, when i start my Pistons and Wizrads dynasties i'll probly end up struggling early on too

Sun Mar 28, 2004 12:47 pm

Now this is a dynasty. I like a team that struggles to find itself at the start. But don't worry dude, once they start playing together, they'll just keep winning, and if they don't mix like peas and carrots, than you gotta trade, find the problem and solve it. Just don't do what the Bulls have done!!

But I'm really enjoying your dynasty mate. Like one dude said, it's like reading the paper, and it is. It's very realistic! That trade was good, I like D-Miles in a sense that he is very helpful when you need him, and adding Stoudamire, that just iced the cake. He's frequently overlooked by many, but he is as good as any when he wants.
Thinking of making any more moves, looks like you need a big man besides Gooden, anyone in mind mate??

Damon flying as Magic slowly dieing!!
Magic form slump continues...

Orlando Magic (0-6) @ Housten Rockets (2-2)

Pre-Game Newswire:
The Magic come into this game not knowing much about their oppponents who have had 4 very odd games, the Rockets have a pattern going, win/loss/win/loss, so tonight according to the pattern the Rockets will win. Magic are playing in just their second away game for the year so this will be a tough battle. Dealing with Yao, Francis and Mobley will be a big ask. whilst tonights key for the Magic is definantly stoping those guys, they will be looking for some boost of the bench, with Stevenson and Strickland playing major roles off the bench for the Magic, whilst watch for Maurice Taylor to make an impact for the Rockets.

Result: Orlando 104 @ Housten Rockets 115

Recap:
Game started off with a bang! The Franchise and TMAC both nailing three's in the opening minutes of the game. Rockets lead throughout the first thanks to some healthy FG %. THey went on to shoot 61% to close the first 34-28 over the Magic.

Rockets continue to shoot solidly, with Francis and Yao playing major roles here. Damon Stoudamire getting more involved here as is Miles, both play good quarters, but Rockets hold out 56-48. Francis has 17pts, 10ass to halftime, whilst for the Magic TMAc has 14pts.

Keeping the high scoring affair alive in the third with Jackson hitting them from everywhere for the Rockets, whilst Stoudamire and Stevenson nailing crucial baskets late in the third to bring the Magic closer to the Rockets, 78-74 Rockets lead.

Rockets power on here, taking the lead into double figures through out the quarter, leaving the Magic with no real chance what so ever. A few fast breaks by Mobley and Franchise were enough to keep the Magic away from threatning, Damon Stoudamire outstanding for the Magic with 35pts.
Rockets win 115-104.
