Highlights | Recap | Play by play

Detroit (AP)
After the three team deal in which the Pistons bench was strengthen a little bit , Detroit managed to surprise one of the best teams in their conference , the Boston Celtics , and grab a much needed win. „I really like how our team looks now , and this is just the beginning.“-coach Deon Ewing is optimistic.
The facts : The Celtics shot 1/10 from the three point range , going for their season worst 10 percent. They also had just 15 assists , compared to Detroits 24.

Quotable :
R.Allen : I just had a terrible nigh [1-7 3pt , 4-12 fg] , nothing was going for me. Hopefully , in the next game I can get back on track.
B.Gordon : I am really excited about our team now. We won against a championship contender team. Obviously Daniel [Gibson] had a really good game , and he is an improvement over Will Bynum , no disrespect.

The Stat :
Rodney Stuckey – 13 pts , 13 ast ; Stuckey and Gordon were great on this night , and they really played together , like in the beginning of the season.

Turning point :
The beginning of the second quarter Gordon scored 8 straight points , and helped the Pistons get to a 12-0 run. From that point they never looked back.

Hot :
    Ben Gordon : 9/18 FG , 4/7 3pt

Not :
    Ray Allen : 4/12 fg , 1/7 3pt

Good move :
Put newly acquired center from the league [Drew Cook] to defend Garnett.

Bad Move :
The selfishness of Pierce. He started the 4th quarter with 5/8 from the field and with two assists. Finished the game with 6/15 from the field and also , two assists.

Rookie Watch :
Greg Monroe played only 8 minutes , scoring 2 points and grabbing a rebounds.

Notable :
Shaquille O'Neal . Just look at his stat line. 14 points , 10 rebounds , 4 assists , 3 steals and 3 blocks. Shaq is doing well with the Celtics.

Up Next :
    The Phoenix Suns

Phoenix Out rebounds Detroit for a win.

Highlights | Recap | Play by play

Detroit (AP)
After a shocking win against Boston in their prior game , the Pistons didn't manage to surprise another good team , the Phoenix Suns. It wasn't really a close game , and with this loss Detroit again has a loosing record. The final score was 101 - 87

The Facts
Phoenix had 57 team rebounds , their season high. That was outstanding compared to Detroit’s 38 team rebounds. Phoenix also got 33 points from their bench.

Quotable
B.Wallace : This was such a frustrating game , every time I went for the board , one of the Suns got it. Sure the back court is having a good year , but we are the one getting the F*cking , whoops sorry , getting the rebounds.
The Stat
    Rodney Stuckey : 31 pts , 11 ast , 2 stl , 12/28 FG

Turning Point
The second quarter . The Suns won it by 12 points , and from that point on nothing seemed to work for the Pistons.

Hot
The Phoenix Suns with their rebounding. Grant Hill with 12 of them.

Not
    Ben Gordon ; 7/22 FG , 2/7 3 pt

Good Move
A terrific alley-oop play by Nash and Warrick. The new duo is getting a good feel for each other.

Bad Move
Charlie V tried to block the Good Move. Poster time.

Rookie Watch
Greg Monroe played little minutes in this game with an almost no contribution performance.

Notable
Steve Nash had 14 assists, he is just like fine wine , gets better with age.

Why the hell should I trade for a was-been star who is past his best years when I got Stuckey ?

Stuckey is really something else this season.

True Leader ?

On June 28, 2007, Stuckey was taken 15th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. Stuckey got off to a quick start with strong play in summer league and averaged 32.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 9.1 APG in pre-season play before breaking his hand in the final pre-season game. He had left-hand surgery prior to the regular season and was expected to miss 6–8 weeks before making his NBA debut. Stuckey was cleared December 20 to practice and play again, nearly two months after undergoing surgery. He made his professional debut December 21, 2007 against the Memphis Grizzlies and scored 11 points in 6 minutes off the bench.

Rodney Stuckey has elevated his game to another level this season. In the past , the combo guard has been known as a "division 2" devastator . He was great against teams under .500 , but not so great against teams with a winning record. People started questioning his leadership ability , is he really a player that can lead the team to Play - offs , is he a true point guard ?

On the first question I would have to say yes. Stuckey's progression from last season is amazing. He never really had trouble scoring the basketball , but he managed to increase his scoring numbers by a pretty good margin. His passing abilities were often questioned. Part of that is that Stuckey isn't a true Point guard , but a combo one. However , this season he has proven everyone that he can be an elite passer and has become the true star of the Detroit Pistons. His vocal leadership has been outstanding , players just seem to listen to him. His game is more mature , he is playing like a winner.

Stuckey said he wants to become a complete player. Sure , he has a lot of work to do , but the potential is here. He improved his jump shot , his passing , has to work on his decision making and rebounding.

A couple of seasons back , the Pistons sent their starting point guard , Chauncey Billups , to the Denver Nuggets , thinking Rodney can fill up that spot and lead the Pistons back to their old highs. Things haven't pan out as expected , maybe because of the fact that Stuckey isn't a true point guard , at 6'5 he was a solid combo guard at the time. His progression was slow , but he really exploded this season.

The question remains , will Stuckey continue to get better , and will he lead Detroit out of its misery ?

Last Season : 16 .6 ppg , 3.8 rpg , 4.8 apg , 1.1 spg , 40% FG , 23% 3pt
This Season : 20.9 ppg , 3.1 rpg , 7.2 apg , 1.7 spg , 49 % FG , 31 % 3pt

New point guards take over the NBA

Race to the MVP : January 1st , 2011

New year , same faces. This month's edition is packed with guards , and once again it is proven that the NBA is becoming a game of the guards. Some new players are in , but most of the top 10 have already been here.

10. Dwight Howard , Magic [ 20-14 ]
Image
Superman is looking more like a man , than a child this season. Howard improved his arsenal of post moves and is making better decisions with the basketball. His scoring numbers , have however , taken a dip from last year. Dwight is leading the team in both rebounding and field goal percentage , and will have to step up his defensive game a little bit if he plans on defending his title as the leagues best shot blocker.

    16.6 PPG , 11.8 RPG , 0.6 APG , 1.1 SPG , 2.2 BPG , .612 FG%

9. Jason Kidd , Mavericks [ 20 - 11 ]
Image
The Mavericks are on top of the western conference mainly because of this guy. Although Kidd isn't as quick as before , his basketball IQ remains one of the highest in the league.

    10.3 PPG , 5.7 RPG , 10.8 APG , 2.2 SPG , .371 FG % , .300 3PT %

8. Manu Ginobili , Spurs [ 18-14 ]
Image
With Tim Duncan being caught up with age , and some injury problems this season , Manu really stepped up . The shooting guard is having a career season and is leading his team to home-court in play-offs. He is also leading the league in steals.

    21.4 PPG , 6.5 RPG , 6 APG , 3 SPG , .400 3PT

7. LeBron James , Heat [ 19-15 ]
Image
After the public lynch James suffered after he decided to take his talents to south beach , he managed to put some amazing performances for the Heat this season as he already has 4 triple-doubles so far. He is also having a great year from downtown , and when the team gets to know each other a little bit better , the Heat can be a serious title contender.

    28.4 PPG , 7.2 RPG , 5.8 APG , 2.2 SPG , 1.2 BPG , .501 FG , .398 3PT

6. Tyreke Evans , Kings [ 13-16 ]
Image
Maybee Tyreke is ranked to high ? of course not. Not one of his team mates is really having a good year , and Evans improved significantly over last season. Particularly in his jump-shot. If things pan out right , he can lead the Kings to Play-offs this year.

    24.9 PPG , 5.1 RPG , 5 APG , 2.6 SPG , .512 FG , .378 3PT

5. Rajon Rondo , Celtics [ 20-11 ]

Image
Rajon Rondo emerged as one of the best point guards in the league this season. The youngster is leading a pack of veterans and is doing a great job , as the Celtics find themselves in the second place of the Eastern conference.

    14.1 PPG , 5 RPG , 10.5 APG , 2.5 SPG , .307 3PT

4. Amar'e Stoudemire , Knicks [ 18-15 ]
Image
Stoudemire is the new star in the Big Apple. STAT has really improved in rebounding , he again flourished as he reunited with D'Antoni and his up tempo style of play and is top 5 in scoring. The one thing he has to start , is blocking shots.

    27.5 PPG , 11.2 RPG , 1.4 APG , 1 BPG , .600 FG

3. Kobe Bryant , Lakers [ 21-12 ]
Image
The Black Mamba. What can you say about this guy. He is truly one of the best guards to ever play the game. He is a terrific scorer and has a great nap for finding his way to score. This year he is absolutely unstopable on ofense and is looking like Kobe a couple of seasons back , at least scoring wise.

    32.1 PPG , 4.8 RPG , 4.5 APG , 2.4 SPG , .476 FG , .369 3PT

2. Kevin Durant , Thunder [ 21-13 ]
Image
People around the league are saying that Kevin Durant is the best player on the world so far. I wouldn't go that far , but he is freakishly good at this age. The guy hasn't hit his prime and yet he seems like a seasoned veteran out on the floor , leading his team night in and night out. KD leads the league in scoring.

    34.7 PPG , 9.6 RPG , 1 APG , 1.9 SPG , 1.1 BPG , .464 FG

1. Derrick Rose , Bulls [ 22-9 ]

Image
Is this kid the best that has happened to Chicago since the legendary Michael Jordan left ? You bet so. Chicago currently holds the best record in the league and are undefeated at their home court , going 14-0 , mainly because of this guy. When Rose improves his jump shot , he will be simply unstoppable.

    27.2 PPG , 5.3 RPG , 7.1 APG , 2.1 SPG , .473 FG , .325 3PT

Yes our back court is doing great :D
I really want to develop Derozan , and I can't really play with Kleizla , he is too slow for me .

It is likely that Carmelo Anthony will join either Kevin Durant or Brook Lopez in his new NBA destination

DENVER (AP) - - "I want to be traded."Said Carmelo Anthony after his team lost to the New Jersey Nets , the worst team so far in the season. "I want to play for a title contender man , Denver is far way from that now. I know there has been rumors around the NBA a long time now , and I want out now." The superstar stated at a press conference.

After Melo lost agaisnt his potential new team, which also happens to be the worst , he realized Denver isn't his team.Nuggets sit at the 12th spot in their conference at this time , and will have to work a lot if they even want to make the Play-offs. "A great player such as Carmelo doesn't deserve to play in a team that isn't contending for the title and doesn't seem so in future years"- Brook Lopez , starting Center of the New Jersey Nets said.

The potential deal between New Jersey and Denver should include Anthony , Favors , Harris , Billups and Terrence Williams among others , sources say. If this deal does happen , the city of Denver would suffer an irreplaceable loss in their main star over the last years.

Other rumored destination is Oklahoma City , and is much more likely than New Jersey. The problem is , Carmelo wants to go to the Nets. "The Thunder are a good team , they have some great players , but I just don't feel Kevin Durant and myself can play in the same team"-Anthony stated. He may have a point , these two guys are at the top of the NBA when it comes to scoring. But if Anthony decides to promise Oklahoma City that he will sign a new contract after he is trade there , the will immediately become perhaps the strongest force in the west , and one of the strongest in the NBA. Just iamgine Westbrook , Durant and Anthony playing for the same team.

The potential package would include Anthony , Martin , Harden , Green and Ibaka among others , a reliable source informs.

What will Anthony choose ? Will he even be traded ? everything will be solved soon , because fans are starting to be extremely angry with 'Melo's behavior. And yes guys , I would like to acquire Anthony , but I am not willing to give up Stuckey. Any suggestions how can I get him ?

POTENTIAL DEALS

Among other would include : Anthony Billups , Green , Harden and Ibaka

Chances of a trade : 65 %

Among others would include : Anthony , Billups , Harris , Favors , Williams and picks

Chances of a trade : 85 %

The Detroit Pistons organization was really pleased with how new head coach Deon Ewing is controlling the team so far in the season. Sure , they aren't playing as expected , but the young talents in Detroit managed to emerge under his command. Deon was now thinking if his team could land Carmelo Anthony , a player that almost the whole NBA is trying to get at this moment.

„I think we could get him , but the problem is , would he want to resign after the season is finished ? „-Ewing said to his boss who was at the other side of the table, Joe Dumars.
„Yes , I was thinking the same thing. You know how he always said he wants to go either to NY or to the Nets , and frankly , to get him we would have to give up a lot of talent , so a move to Detroit wouldn't be the best move for him“ – Dumars said.
The two continued discussing the potential trade and how they could get 'Melo to resign if he ends up in Detroit. Then suddenly the phone rang.
„Hello , Deon Ewing speaking“
„Hello Deon. I hear you are trying to get Anthony. I knew Dumars made the wrong choice hiring you haha“-a voice on the other side of the phone said.
„Who is this“-Deon said while turning on the speaker so Dumars can listen to the conversation.
„It's the guy who was in charge in Detroit until the not so smart Dumars decided to hire you“
„Kuester go fuck yourself , Deon is way better than you will ever be“ – Dumars decided to join the conversation.
„ Oh mr.Dumars. I didn't know Ewing can't speak for himself. Just tell him we will meet again soon on the basketball court , a team is highly interested in my services“
„They sound quite retarded , good luck in the Cllipers , and I don't have time for this , goodbye“
„It's not the Clip..“ – Kuester tried to say but Ewing hung up on him.

-

Deon decided to give 'Melo a call , to see if it's worth of even trying to make a move for him. He took a sip of water , went trough his strategy of how to get him on his side , and dialed the number.
„'Melo Speaking“
„Hello Carmelo , It's Deon Ewing , the head coach of the Pistons. I was wondering if you had a couple of minutes so I can speak with you ?“-Deon asked politely.
„Well , I guess so, but you need to be quick , practice starts soon.“
„So , I wanted to ask you if you were interested for playing for our team. I think we have an offer your team won't refuse.“-Deon started
„No offense man , but Detroit is one of the last teams in the NBA I would like to play for. The team isn't even a Play-off contender , and if case you didn't hear , I want to play for a title contender“-Melo said
„Well that's why I wanted to talk to you. I noticed you and Ty Lawson really played well together.“
„Yes that's true“-Melo confirmed
„Ok , so I was planning of giving Denver this offer. We would send Gordon , Prince's expiring contract and Stuckey , which I find a big loss for us , for you and Ty. Maybe I would include another player like Monroe or Wallace if George Karl doesn't agree to the offer“-Deon explained.
„And that would leave you with what , me , Ty and Demar ?. Sorry but I will have to say no on this.“-Carmelo rejected
„But Car..“
„No buts man , listen I need to go , if Karl does accept that stupid offer , I will not resign for you at the end of the season , goodbye.“-Carmelo interrupted Deon as he hung up.
„Fuck , that's a first“-Deon said.

A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER

"That may be the offer we are looking for Mr. Ewing , I will get back to you in a couple of days , we really have a lot offers on the table right now."
"I understand , so we do have a good chance of getting him ?"-Deon asked the person
"From my standpoint certainly , but it's not just up to me , but you should already know that"-the person said
"Yes everything is clear , I look forward to hearing from you again , hopefully you will make me a lucky head coach !"
"I certainly hope so, just to say maybe some changes will have to be made in the deal , we will speak soon".
"Ok , thank you very much , goodbye."-Deon said as the person hung up.

He was just on the phone having a conversation that can really help Detroit's chances of becoming a force on the East. But , the Pistons would also have to give up a lot of talent to make this deal.

THREE GAME WRAP UP

DETROIT (AP) - In this three game wrap up the Pistons won one game and lost two. They need to pick up their pace a little bit if they want to catch the 8th seed this season. "Playing in the Play-offs would be a bit ahead of schedule for us this season"-coach Deon Ewing said. This statement may cause some unpleasant replies from the fans , but coach Ewing promised them a good Play-off performance next season.

A player known as the Black Mamba exploded in this game for a season best 54 points. But you think Kobe had only a great shooting performance ? You are wrong , he also managed to dish out 10 dimes for a double double. Three players in Pistons uniform were in double digits , and all three went for 20 or more points. None of the Detroit Pistons players managed to get a double double , while the Lakers had 3 of them
BOX SCORE

K.Bryant : 54 pts , 10 ast , 23/33 FG
R.Artest : 24 pts , 10 reb , 2 stl , 6/6 3PT

The Detroit Pistons back court combined for 47 points in this game as the 2 guard , Ben Gordon exploded with 5 three pointers. We had 2 other players in double digits , and once again , it was Demar Derozan, he is getting more and more consistent with his performances that ended in double digits. The Philadelphia 76ers also had 4 players in double digits , but no one didn't score more than 18 points. They were weakened by the injury of Andre Iguodala , who will return soon.

The last first time Detroit played the leagues best time in this NBA season , they lost by a margin of 43. Now they lost by a margin of 32 to the Bulls , but quite frankly , didn't look any better than in the previous meeting. The new combo , Rose-Boozer managed to combine for 55 points in this one. They also had good help from their other starters, as two more of them managed to score in double digits. Detroit also had 4 players that scored 10 or more , and only Gordon passed the 20 point mark.
