man, if your getting owned by ming, as you were, go to settings -> playbook -> defensive matchups, and then double team him and put him on high pressure - dont let him own you like that

good luck with future games, and try to be more careful with your passes :p

Dawg in Due Time: Kobe Meet Kanye
Words: Jay Z

“If we talk bout’ classics, do my name get brought up?”
– Kanye West ‘Diamonds are Forever’

Image
The NBA Charity game was where the two best players in their respective fields met for the first time. Kobe Bryant, meet Kanye West. Bryant, the superstar guard shook hands with West, the superstar of Hip Hop before the two started to sign and hand out items for the underprivileged. Looking into the histories of the duo, it’s only hard to disregard how similar the two stars are and how they have succeeded in their day jobs. Although, West is right now undisputedly the king of Hip Hop music and Kobe isn’t the king of the NBA yet, Kobe could still take a few pages out of West’s book to reach the top.

Both guys grew up in rich households and a stigma still exists against the two. As it has been argued, Kobe Bryant just doesn’t have enough street cred to sell jerseys because he didn’t grow up in the ghetto. Bryant lived with his family in Italy for his pre-teen years thanks to his father being a professional basketball player. West was similar as he was rejected from record deals due to the fact that he was well off and dress ghetto preppy. As one of his song lyrics goes, ‘Back when thought pink polos would hurt the Roc.’

As youngsters, both were exposed to attention regularly and this helped build their characters, in which they are both seen as egotistical. Kobe was a natural on the hard wood and spent entire halftimes during his fathers’ pro games to show off his shooting to the crowd. He later returned to the States and was an instant celebrity at Lower Merion High School. West was always a show off since the day he went to preschool. As his mom Donda West remembers, “Kanye usually comes home and we would ask him why he was showing off to the other kids, and he would just shrug.” Mrs West took her son to China at the age of 10 and Kanye enjoyed the attention of all the children trying to rub the colour of his skin off of him. And it’s only understandable that the two became more confident with themselves after the many incidents where they have been in the center of the attention.

As time went by, the two became more self conscious and confident with themselves. This transferred into their quests to search for their future jobs and coincidently, they endured backlash from their actions at the same time. When Kobe Bryant opted for the jump from preps to pros in 1996, it was around the same time when Kanye West was rejected from his first record deal application.

Bryant wore sunglasses and tried to talk as if he was already a professional in his press conference. The media throng wasn’t impressed and as the story goes, Bryant’s annoying mannerisms of his boyhood idol Michael Jordan, didn’t work for his image. West meanwhile went to a record company to apply for a job and was knocked back when he was seen as cocky due to his comments of taking down Jermaine Dupri. (It was only worse that the company director who interviewed him was Dupris’ father)

While Bryant got his job as a baller and West got his job as a producer, the duo weren’t satisfied with how their roads led them. Bryant was stuck on the Lakers’ bench while West couldn’t receive the exposure he thought he deserved. After years of biting the bullet, the two finally tasted true success. Bryant won his first NBA ring with Shaquille O’Neal in 2000. Kanye West helped produce Jay Z’s chart topping album; ‘The Blueprint’ in 2001. At the time for both of them, it seemed like it was their time to shine.

- Man, that's heaps good. I'll do some research and incorporate it in an article later in the season! :) Thank you! Some of those guys wouldn't be traded in real life.. so I will see who ius a realistic option.

Great job Sit! Good to see that you're already up and runnin'. Eventhough 24 turnovers by two players is just crazy. I hope you bounce back.

And I'd go for Dixon or Daniels.

Kobe and Odom are playing well but they need to take care of their ball, otherwise their playoffs hopes are over. I had read that article about Kobe and Kanye, it looks very interesting. For the PG thing, I think you should get Antonio Daniels because he got size, and the fact that he can score, shoot 3s and pass. Goodluck on your next game.

question on turnovers, because i had alot for this reason.

are the turnovers a result of 'steals' that go too far away from your player in order for you to grab them, so you "turn them over"?

- Thanks a lot man… I hope you learnt a bit bout Kanye… everyone knows bout Kobe! Yes, I need to be way more careful with the rock when I pass, I also toned down the intercepts slider to limit how many times the cpu gets in fornt of the ball… tell me what you think from the next game

Laxation wrote: question on turnovers, because i had alot for this reason.

- Turning over the ball is whenever a player who is in possession loses possession. This could result in a steal, or a block or an errant pass out of bounds or stepping out of bounds or even traveling.

Isaiah214 wrote: TO's killed you...did you commit them all in the 3rd? coz thats where you got drained...

- I can’t remember, I would imagine the majority did come then. The Rockets played good fast break basketball then.
