October 31, 2009
Brooklyn (AP) -- Stephon Marbury scored 8 of his game high 34 points in overtime to secure the first win for the Brooklyn Ballers. The fans around the Barclays Arena are all shouting "Starbury" after the game. "It's nice to get the first win on the first game especially if it's against New York. I appreciate the support of all the fans around here."
It was not all cheer that has been heard in the game, in fact the Ballers were booed after being downed 12-0 in the 1st quarter. "That was a tough place to be with. I just told my team to keep playing hard" coach Patrick Ewing stated. His team just did that, the good thing that can be note with the Ballers is that they are always hustling for the loose ball which led them to a lot of offensive rebounds.
When they got back the momentum, it was a close fight till the end. Tracy Mcgrady who scored 20 points in the first half got shutdown by Darius Miles who defended him the entire second half. The Ballers got the lead late in the 4th quarter thanks to a three pointer by Brian Cook. But Eddie House answered a long jumpshot to take the lead again but with only seconds remaining Marbury rushed to the basket for what supposed is the game winner. With only .8 seconds remaining the Ballers looks like their going to win it but Wilson Chandler nailed a ridiculous halfcourt shot.
"When that shot went in, the whole team just get quiet. But Marbury said to the team that we will win in OT." Morris Almond said. Marbury did just that as he went to dominate the overtime, he scored, finds open teammate and he also defend. The final whistle blows as the whole arena was shouting "Starbury."
Key Perfomers:
Brooklyn:
Robert Swift: 16 points,15 rebounds

With a very strong batch of rookies participating in the 2010 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Ballers decided to focus on scouting this rookies. Projected as a very strong draft pool , scouting this players is really important as you can still get decent players in the second round.
PACIFIC NORTHWEST
The Pacific Northwest region perhaps have the most players that can play in the league. But this six players catches the attention of our scouts.
Shelton Smith|Pos:SF|HT:6'6|WT:213|Age:23|
Strengths: Passing,Mid-range shooting,Strength,Dunking
Weaknesses: Offensive and Defensive rebounding
Insight: This kid is one of the most NBA ready in the draft, he got all the moves of a professional basketball player. He reminds me of Grant Hill on his prime days. He just need to improve his rebounding and quickness.
Projected: Top 5
Alejandro Fortsen|Pos:C|HT:7'1|WT:244|Age:22|
Strengths: Freethrow,Strength,Dunking,Stamina
Weaknesses: Stealing, Offensive Awareness
Insight: A monster under the ring, although he doesn't have many post moves he can bring down the rim with his dunks. A similar specimen to Dwight Howard only he doesn't have the knack of blocking shots. Obviously he needs to work on his post moves
Projected: Top 15
Tariq Leon|Pos:PG|HT:5'11|WT:206|Age:23|
Strengths: Speed,Quickness,Passing
Weaknesses: Defensive Awareness, Turnover prone
Insight: One of the quickest guy on the draft, his playing style is similar to Jameer Nelson who is like to push the ball. He sometimes turns the ball over because of his flashy passes. His decision making needs to improve.
Projected: Top 20
Shawnelle Redondo|Pos:SG|HT:6'6|WT:211|Age:22|
Strengths: Freethrow,Quickness,Stealing, Dunking
Weaknesses: Passing,Ball Handling,Offensive Rebounding
Insight: A kid with a lot of potential, his athleticism is compared to the great Michael Jordan. Only he is a certified ball hog and have some off court problems. He is a great player but picking him is a great risk.
Projected: Top 15
Lee Davies|Pos:C|HT:6'10|WT:240|Age:22|
Strengths: Vertical,Strength,Dunking,Defensive Awareness
Weaknesses: Ball Handling,Passing,Quickness
Insight: The most dominant big man in the draft, he got a lot of post moves to use. His defense needs a little improvement he also needs to work on his passes in the double team. I can see him turning to a player like David Robinson although he might want to control his temper, he gets a lot of technical fouls.
Projected: Top 5
Dave Russell|Pos:SG|HT:6'6|WT:260|Age:23|
Strengths: Defensive Awareness, Inside Scoring
Weaknesses: Offensive Awareness, Rebounding
Insight: A defensive specialist similar playing style to Ron Artest only without attitude. He won't be out muscled by anyone due to his frame. He might want to work on his jumpshots especially his three point shooting.
Projected: Top 5

Yep, can you use the one from the T-Wolves?
Clutch wrote:man... i almost want you to pick Lee Davies just because playing with a guy named David Lee could be kind of hilariousalso hard not to take a good look a guy whose game is being compared to the great MJ.. but he'll likely turn out to be more Harold Minor 2.0
good stuff man; normally i'm not a Starbury fan but for some reason i'm stoked that he went off; guess i'm a sucker for the aging-one-defying-the-odds stories
