solid game by Bogut (Y) those Iverson TO's hurt, but I've got a feeling that the difference was your lack of bench production where you were beaten by the Bucks' bench 28-8....thoughts to ponder there eh Weaver

That pretty much sums it up, indeed... AI should get his priorities fixed if we want to win some games this year...

Let Korver break the three point record!

What's with you and records, anyway?

I have faith in Weaver that he will keep Korver's 3pt attempts to less than half of that amount per game

come on, 5 or 6 3pt attempts for Korver at most is realistic....anything more, is crazy....maybe you should train up Korver in defense....try and make him a better perimeter defender  the socks always help (Y)

great dynasty so far, it kept straying off the topic on the first page and was confusing  even though korver is a great 3pt shooter he is a bit of a streaky scorer and is not really consistent but which ever way you choose to use him then (y)

Korver seems to get hot in Live during crunch time situations, which is always a welcome thing... 8-)

Team Record: 0-2

Philly brings offensive mentality to Detroit, but Pistons follow suit and grab the win...

Image

Below: Rip Hamilton and co abandoned their defensive mindedness of last season and went toe-to-toe with the high scoring Sixers, coming out on top in the end. Chris Webber was carrier off the floor late in the second quarter, came back later on, but after the game was diagnosed with a severely bruised knee, causing him to miss 2 weeks' worth of action...

The game went off with an offensive explosion in the first three minutes by Allen Iverson, who scored 8 of his team's first 10 points that led to a 10-2 lead for the visitors. It wouldn't take long for the gritty Pistons to come up with a response, however, and the score was 13-12 at mid-quarter, with the home side being led both on offense ond on defense by Rasheed Wallace. From that point on and until the end of the quarter, it was Iverson versus the Pistons, as the diminutive guard demanded the ball, got it, and put it in the basket all the way during that stretch, leading to a 26-26 tie.

The second period of this match was a fan's delight. Both teams seemed to engage in a fast paced, high-scoring tempo, with little to no regard towards their respective defensive duties. Iverson was still racking up the points as well as the turnovers, Chauncey Billups was following suit in the offensive department, Rip Hamilton was seconding him, and the game went like that, running and gunning, up until three minutes before halftime. At that moment in time, Chris Webber was fouled mid-air by Rasheed Wallace, made the basket but subsquently went on to land awkwardly with almost his entire weight resting on his right knee. He was carried off the floor for the remainder of the period, which ended 63 - 61 for Detroit.

In the third, the Webber-less Sixers had to rely more and more on Iverson's skills, which can always be either a blessing or a curse, rarely in between. It was a blessing at first, with AI being excellent in both his playmaking and scoring duties, but it would not last long. Fatigue would lesen his effectiveness, and the Pistons would take advantage of that to strip the ball off his hands on numerous occasions. Iguodala and Korver were trying to assume some authority on offense, but their inability to create their own shots consistently reulted in many misses. With Webber requesting and managing to get back on the floor near the end of the period, Philadelphia managed to stay in touch, finishing only 1 point behind, 88-87.

The last quarter saw Detroit turning on the afterburners and vanishing into the distance, led by the high powered offense of Billups and Hamilton, as well as Ben Wallace's power in the paint. The score was 125 - 115 with only a minute and a half to go, and all seemed over and done with, were it not for Kyle Korver and his late-game heroics. The former late second round draft pick proceeded to heave three long range three pointers, mostly out of despair, but his aim was infallible and he actually led his side to only one point behind, after making all three of them. Alas, with the score at 127-124 after a Billups basket, Korver could not make it 4 straight from downtown, and the Sixers failed to grab their first win of the season.Final score: 129 - 124 for the Pistons.

Player of the Game: CHAUNCEY BILLUPS 22pts, 9ast, 6stl, 4rebs, 6TOs, 7/23 FGs

Post-Game Quotes:

Allen Iverson on the defeat and his second turnover-filled stat sheet: " I don't know what's going on, Im just trying to do what I've always done, help the team win. These past two games I've had a lot of giveaways, and I just can't explain it. Only thing I know is, it's hurting the team and it's up to me to take better care of the rock."

Chris Webber on his injury: " This is extremely frustrating. It's the same knee that bothered me 1.5 year back, and it's definitely the worst time to have to sit out two weeks. I trust the guys will do their best , and I'll promise I'll be back as soon as possible to help them."

Chauncey Billups on the win and the high-scoring victory: That was not our game plan, but it turned out to be a scorcher of a game. We followed our opponents' tempo and beat them at their own game. Coach Flip has been prodding us all through the preseason to be more free on offense, and I believe the results were evident tonight."

I'll let him away with it for this game because Korver was on fire....otherwise it would be more like this - :shake: I'm more concerned that the Pistons shot the ball 112 times and managed to put up 40pts in the 4th, and 128pts for the game, on only 45.5% shooting  I guess you better get Korver training up on his perimeter defense as that's unacceptable D by the Sixers

and Weaver, 0-2....you'll be challenging my dismal record soon   ah well, you'll get better....I have faith :P
