Game 3
Team Boxscores | Final Score

ImageImage

After two pretty close games in LA, this first matchup in Phoenix was less of a strain. The Clippers ran out with the lead, leading by 7 points going into the fourth quarter. They extended that lead in the fourth and ended up with a 118-93 win... which is a 25 point blowout. The Suns cannot hope to extend their playoff life if they continue to lose it in the fourth quarter.

The big difference in this game would be the bench scoring. The Suns held Center Boris Diaw, who's been averaging 22 points and 15.5 rebounds per game this series, to only 8 points and 8 rebounds. Amare Stoudamire didn't take advantage of Diaw's bad game as he only put in 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Elton Brand, Mike Miller, and Sam Cassell combined for 73 points. Small Foward Corey Maggette fouled out early in the fourth, but he managed to contribute 15 points. The rest of the 30 points came from Vladmir Radmanovic, Diaw, and Livingston, who had 8 each, then Josh Childress with 6. Leandro Barbosa for the Suns was the only bench player who scored for the Suns, and he only had 2 points. This was the main difference as the Clippers continued to stop the Suns starters in the fourth, and since the bench can't score, this stragegy got the Clippers the win.

The Clippers will go for their second sweep next game and extend their record to 8-0.

Game 4
Team Boxscores | Final Score

ImageImage

This Game 4 was literally an reinactment of Game 1. With only 5.5 seconds left Suns center Amare Stoudamire got around Mike Miller and put down a hard slam to tie the game at 107. The Clippers proceeded to call timeout and designed a strategy. The ball was designated to go to Shooting Guard Mike Miller, but Miller was tied up, so Shaun Livingston flashed open and call for the ball. Livingston has not had a good game, with zero points, he has had 6 assists. He took the ball and drove, and just like Game 1, Steve Nash came out of nowhere and tried to defend the layup. Nash and not known for his defensive ability, and thus he fouled Livingston with only 2.2 seconds showing on the clock.

Livingston did just what Cassell did in the first game, stay calm, and took his time at the line. This paid off as he sank both shots. The Suns had one last chance as they tossed the ball to Tim Thomas near the three point line, but his shot clanked off the front of the rim due to having Elton Brand and Boris Diaw in his face.

This down to the wire win was the second for the Clippers this series. Due to hours of practicing free throw shooting, they advanced to the next round. They will face the San Antoino Spurs, who eliminated the Dallas Mavericks 4-2. This is an very important matchup since there are the league's best teams, and they both finished with records of 68-14.

A down to the wire game 4... I probably would have choked. My team couldn't make freethrows if their lives depended on it.

Who's facing who in the east for the finals?

The Clippers probably should stop having these games down to the wire, its going to give their coach and the crowd heart attacks.

With only 1.5 seconds left in overtime of their first game against the San Antoino Clippers in the Western Conference Finals, the Clippers had the ball but trailed 132-133. Spurs shooting guard Manu Ginobili already has 59 points, including the go-ahead jumper for the Spurs. Clippers point guard and veteran Sam Cassell took the ball off the inbounds and stepped just inside the three point line. Ginobili automatically got in his face, but Cassell went up anyways due to lack of time, and the whole crowd watched in awe as the ball swished into the net.

The Spurs looked in shock at this. They had led by as much as 30 going into the fourth, but the Clippers mounted a strong comeback. The stars of the season, Elton Brand and Corey Maggette stepped it up and each managed double-doubles. Brand also played lockdown defense on Robert Horry, holding him to only 4 points.

To say the least this game was a high scoring event, with the starters contributing most of the scoring. Spurs guard Tony Parker also had 28 points and 13 assists while Tim Duncan had 23 points and 19 rebounds. All of the Clippers' starters scoring 20 points or more except for Boris Diaw.

If this is the start of the series, then it will be a very interesting Conference Finals.

In other playoff news, the 4th ranked Cleveland Cavs defeated the Philadelphia Sixers, the number 2 seed to take a 1-0 lead in their Conference Finals series. The Cavs upset number 1 seeded Detriot 4-1 in their previous series while Philadelphia beat the New Jersey Nets with the same number of games.
P.S. I aint lying, Cassell really did hit the game winning, if that celebration screen is not enough proof you can ask me for the video
