Game 25 - Dec 21st 2011
Magic beat Warriors in Overtime
The Orlando Magic faced the top of the Western Conference this week with the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks a day before.
The Warriors surprisingly lead the West with a 18-8 winning record. Monta Ellis and Steph Curry combine for almost 50 points a game. With the aquisition of Tayshawn Prince from the Pistons this team looks really scary so far.
The first half was a desaster for the Orlando Magic, shooting only 35% from the Field and a bunch of turnovers. It seemed the Magic were tired from the day before where they battled the Mavs in Dallas. Monta Ellis led the Warriors with 21 points in the first half to a 9 point margin.
Orlando somehow stayed alive and did not let the Warriors run away with a big deficit so the game was still disclosed until the last possessions. With the score tied at 103 - 103 Dwight Howard missed the winning shot and the game went into overtime.
Howard interview via FS:
"I do want the ball more in the fourth quarter," a frustrated Howard said after the game.
"I want to become a closer. The only way you get there is by getting the ball and have coach have the confidence in giving me the ball.
"That’s how Kobe (Bryant) and the rest of the great fourth-quarter players got that way. It’s trial and error. When Kobe first got in the league, it took him a while to become the killer he is in the fourth quarter now. That’s because he went through that phase where he had to learn what shots to take and just get confidence in taking shots in the fourth quarter.
"That’s one thing that I want for myself, so I can become the guy who finishes games for my team. I want to be that guy whose team wants him to close games out for them. Coach just needs to have confidence in me."

In Overtime it was a give and take by both teams. At the last possession the Magic were up in front by 1 point, Monta Eliis shot from the corner just in time but the ball bounced from the rim and the Warriors lost this game.
Warriors aquired Tayshawn Prince for a '12 1st rd, Kwame Brown and Jeremy Tyler
We will see what this 1st round pick is worth for the Pistons if the Warriors keep up this performance, but it is likely they make the playoffs.

Rockets end 8 game streak
The Houston Rockets ended an eight game winning streak for the Orlando Magic. The spirit of 1995 when both teams wore their retro uniforms this night, no good omen for the Magic.
The Rockets killed the Magic from outside, 17 three pointers just too much to handle. Terence Williams scored 31 points in addition to that Kevin Martin with 26. Kyle Lowry served 12 assists combined with 12 points to lead the Rockets past the Magic.
Hedo Turkoglu showed horrible shooting tonight, only 2 - 14 from the field 0-5 from 3 point line.
