DETROIT CHRONICLES
It was a cold morning in Detroit. It was snowing the prior day so the streets were all in white. Winter has come. Joe Dumars just got to his office , and he was quite worried for his team. The board confidence weren't satisfied with the trade their head coach, Mr. Kuester has maade. Demar Derozan had a few good games but was fairly inconsistent . Linas Kleizla had a tiny role on the team and the other two players they got from the trade weren't even in the rotation , playing 5 minutes maximum in a game.
Hamilton emerged as a great player in Toronto , scoring 20 points a game and leading the Raptors to a 4-0 start. McGrady was also doing very good as this is looking to be his bounce back year to perhaps even stardom. He is slowly increasing his scoring per game and is now on 15 per game. He is also averaging 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Sure ,
it is too early to say if the trade was good or bad , and Derozan brings the crowd in the arena with his mind blowing dunks, but he will need to work really hard if he wants to become a star caliber player. If it wasnt for the back court to step up , Detroit would be an awful team now. Stuckey is having his breakout year, and Gordon is looking good like in his Chicago days. Ben Wallace has surprised everyone with his rebounding and blocks, and this is another renaissance season for him.
Coach Kuester made some questionable decisions during games which only helped the opposition , and Dumars was really skeptic about his ability to raise Detroit into new heights. Sure , the team cane make the play-offs , but it will certainly not be because of Kuester. There are a few talented coaches that are looking for their call from an NBA team , and perhaps Kuester's job here is done.
This upcoming draft is vowed to be the strongest one in the last decade, with three big man that draw comparisons of players like Shaquille O'Neal and Dirk Nowitzki , a forward that is compared to Kevin Durant and a point guard compared to Steve Nash. So if the Pistons hit rock bottom again this year, it can possibly be a good thing in long term.
Dumars is about to make a decision which will determine if Kuester is the right man for Detroit. He took a sip of water, gasped and called his secretary. „Please call me Mr. Kuester“- he said. As Kuester arrived, he was all smiles. „The team is doing good, right boss ? we are 6-4 now, and could easily make the play-offs if things come together and we stay injury free“-the head coach was optimistic. „Have you been following this years draft prospects at all ? There are many players that could change the face of our franchise, we don't want to miss that. Damn John, you are starting to disappoint me“- Dumars said in a high tone. Kuester was very confused , as he thought he was doing a good job in Detroit. „ But boss , I made a good trade , the back court has become a killing combination, we have a winning record, what have I done wrong ? „-Kuester asked confused. „ Nothing , perhaps maybe the trade, but it is too early to say that. You are a good coach John, and a great person, but I just can't see you taking this franchise to a championship, I just can't , and we can't wait 5 years for you to develop young talent. We need talent now , and we will get it win the following draft, with a losing record , and with a new head coach. I'm sorry, but you're fired“-Said Dumars while taking another sip of his water. „Wow, I will stay professional now , and will just say you made a big mistake, a very big mistake. I will be hired by some NBA team , and every time I play against Detroit, you will loose Joe, you will.“-threatened Kuester as he left the office of his former boss.
It was now up to Joe Dumars to find a new head coach, he made a bold decision firing Kuester with really no good reason, the Pistons fans and the media will surely be surprised, but it was more the decision of the board confidence than his. „Damn, I'll get Isiah comparisons now, please God, help me find a good head coach“

DETROIT CHRONICLES : PART 2
Two days after John Kuester have been fired, some potential new head coaches were doing their interviews, and Joe Dumars, the general manager of the Detroit Pistons, wasn’t at all happy. All coaches he called personally and to who he offered a job as the head coach have rejected his offer saying that Detroit doesn’t have any real future in front of them as Ben Wallace and Tayshuan Prince are in their last years. Ben Wallace has prior announced this will be his last season in the NBA, and Prince is perhaps having the last season of his career as a starter.
The “interviewed ones” didn’t really show anything promising , and Dumars was on the merge of doing a pathetic act of calling Kuester back and trying to convince him to return to the team. “Oh God I really made a mistake, this guys couldn’t lead a NCAA scrub team , they would be terrible in the NBA”-Dumars thought while face palming himself a couple of times. But then , a young man entered the room. He was about 6 feet tall , slim , had black hair and a smile from one ear to another. He was so charismatic by just his looks[not in a gay way] that Dumars stayed speechless.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Hello , I came here for the job interview, I’m . .. “- “Yes I know who you are , please, take a seat young man”-Dumars interrupted him as he poured a glass of whiskey and handed it to the young man. “so young man , I am on my last nerves right, and I don’t know why , but I got a feeling that you could be the one we are looking for, so please don’t disappoint me. You have a impressive resume. Lead your high school team to the state finals, graduated college as an A+ student in law. You could now be earning big time money in the court room , why basketball ? “-asked Dumars. “ Well you see Mr. Dumars , I was very unfortunate as I had a bad injury on my freshman year at college and it ended my career before it has even started. I just love the game , it was always a big part of me, from my first steps , and for me personally, it would be a dream come true to have a chance to coach an NBA team. “- the young man said with his always present smile on the face.
“Ok , it’s nice to hear that. But, you are young an un-experienced, I doubt you are a tactical mastermind in this age, and we need one right now, on and off the court.”-replied Dumars. “I wouldn’t say I’m un-experienced. Perhaps in a way I have never coached a professional team, but as far as tactics go , both offense and defense , I can say I’m very good , you would be surprised.”-The young man stated.
“You are somewhere around the age of Ben Wallace, do you really think players would have respect for you ?”-Dumars was becoming a bit skeptic. “ Well , if you’d get to know me, you’d see my biggest attribute is my charisma. I can really get people in the court room on my side. I am quite convincing, and if I can do that, a dozen of basketball players wouldn’t be a problem. Plus, I really get on well with people, they truly respect me. Even in this age. I can have a good time every here and then, but when it comes to business , I am extremely serious and fully dedicated to it.”-the young man stated.
“Young man, I already like two things about you, you are very confident in your abilities and always have a smile on your face. You are actually quite mature for your age, I would like to tutor you as your career progresses, but unfortunately , it’s not up to me to decide this time. I bring up suggestions to the board confidence , and the final word is theirs. I will however, strongly recommend you.” – Dumars said with a smile. “Thank you sir , I would really like to work for this organization , especially because even if we are a lottery team this year, it is an extremely strong draft and the Pistons would make the most of it”-he said. “ Young man , I am confident you will get a job here, now tell me , what was your name again . . . “

Pistons have hired a new head coach
Detroit, meet your new head coach . The 38 year old Deon Ewing. He signed a 6 year deal , and will be paid somewhere around 3 million $ a season. Deon is a former highly regarded international high school prodigy who never made it to the NBA because of his horrific knee injury. Even to this day , he walks with great trouble . He got that knee injury in a car crash , which he was happy to get of alive .
He then went to attend a college in hope to get a degree in law. Ewing has succeeded in that with great ease. He is a man with a very high IQ, both general knowledge and basketball. Even though unable to play, Ewing attended many basketball games , camps and even basketball semesters. „It has helped me to understand the game better“-Deon Ewing said.
In his early years Deon loved to run and to jump. He grow up in Croatia, because his mother is from there. His father is a New Yorker, but went to live in Croatia because of less crime. He gave him the basketball in his hands after he made his first steps. That's how he fell in love with basketball. He had great talent, and at the age of 7 started playing for the kids team.
In his high school years he was a great talent. For his size of 6 foot 4, he had really good size for the point guard position. Deon never really payed too much attention to defense, and was all about being flashy and getting the heart of the fans. His game was kind of similar to the game of Steve Nash, except Deon had the ability dunk. In his final year he averaged 19.8 points per game, 12.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds.
He was then to take the next step and go to college in the US. Deon got a scholarship to the University of North Carolina, and just days before his first game , the horrific injury happened.
As a coach, Deon Ewing really posses the potential to be a Phil Jackson caliber coach. He is a great motivator, and is already a good offensive coach. However, his defensive strategies have often been questioned , and with defense being the weakest link in Detroit's game , it will have to change

Five game wrap – up
In this five games, the Pistons started sliding down the stretch, as they lost 4 games and won only 1. Derozan scored 10 or more points in just one game, as he is proved as a player with tremendous potential , but with plenty of work to do before being a star. Deon Ewing , the new head coach , has had a ruff welcome in the league. After this five games , the Detroit Pistons are now 7 and 8 [7-8]

Another big loss , another bad performance. The new Head coach Deon Ewing isn't doing the job he is expected to do. Dirk Nowitzki went absolutely berserk as he was scoring bucket after bucket , and there was nothing the Detroit Pistons defense could do about it. Jason Kidd was absolutely fantastic to watch today too , as he dished out some truly beautiful assists.

Rodney Stuckey with the game winning dunkStuckey's game winning dunk puts Detroit back to winning ways
Final Result : 83 - 82DETROIT (AP) -- With only 7 seconds left, the Detroit Pistons had the ball off the in bounds. The were loosing by one point to their fellow conference rival , the Milwaukee Bucks. Everyone was expecting that Ben Gordon will get the ball , because he is known as a great shooter and also as a clutch one. He was also the leading scorer for the Pistons at that point of the game.
But he didn't get the ball. Rodney Stuckey did. When he got the ball on the edge of the three point line, he immediately faced up against his matchup, the young Brandon Jennings. He tried a pump fake but Jennings didn't buy it. Then Stuckey managed to just blow right pass the youngster for a wide free dunk. There was 1.3 seconds left and the Milwaukee Bucks called a time out.
They got the ball to their star , John Salmons, and as Salmons had to shoot over the hand of Demar Derozan , he missed , and by wide. The ball didn't even hit the rim , heck it didn't even hit the back board, it was an air ball.
Ben Gordon had a decent all – around game for his team. He racked up eighteen points along with four assists and 4 rebounds. And you wouldn't believe it , he had two blocked shots , and both will make the highlight reel because they were on Andrew Bogut .
Rodney Stuckey , other than the game winner , didn't really have a great night offensively as he finished with just ten points. He did however, dish out 6 assists and grab 5 boards in his teams winning effort. His game winning dunk will be a dunk to remember this season as Stuckey also put a little bit of flair into it.
On the other side , John Salmons had a very good game. The veteran swing man finished the game with a game high twenty-eight points and a decent six boards to go with his great shooting performance.
Other than Salmons , Corey Maggette was the only Bucks player to finish the game in double figures. This swingman had fifteen points in the game. He also had three boards and assists. It was the bad performance of the supporting cast which caused the loss for the Bucks.
This game wasn't really pretty to watch , as Detroit shot 41 percent from the field , and the Bucks a miserable 36 percent. Both teams played really solid D , which lead to a combined 19 blocks on the game . Detroit's bench out scored the Bucks bench by 14 points , as they had 32 for the game.-

Three game wrap up
------------------------DETROIT (AP) – The Detroit Pistons continue they slide of poor performances and losses as they loose three straight in this wrap up. They also do continue they slide of inconsistent games , which will have to change if they are serious about making the play-offs this year. The Pistons don't have an all-star player that could lead them to the play-offs on their shoulders , so team effort is key. They aren't acting as a team now, but it is a long season , and anything can happen .

Detroit Pistons vs. New York Knicks
Final Result : 100 – 112
Amar'e Stoudemire and Co. Have really come in to Motown to play. They won this game easily en route to their fourth straight, as things are finally coming together in New York. Detroit's back court combined for 59 points as the big guys again failed to deliver. Also, Derozan again had less than ten points in this game , scoring a lousy 8. The project or the future is really under achieving the last ten or so games , at least scoring wise. In add to that , the big guys are really having trouble rebounding the ball , as Amar'e collected just ten offensive boards.
Top Performances
Amar'e Stoudemire : 35 pts , 14 reb , 2 blk
Rodney Stuckey : 25 pts , 6 ast
Ben Gordon : 24 pts , 3 ast , 3 reb
Raymond Felton : 15 pts , 7 ast
Detroit Pistons @ Orlando Magic
Final Result : 78 – 116

This was one of the worst performances the Pistons had this season. Although they did had four players that reached double figures , they were a abysmal 36 percent from the field. The Magic had six players in double figures , as they went berserk from beyond the arc in this game. Also , Dwight Howard had an outstanding game on the defensive end of the floor , as Detroit's bigs again failed to deliver. If the big boys continue to play like this , perhaps more trades will occur.
Top Performances
Jameer Nelson : 27 pts , 5 reb , 5 ast , 4/5 3-pt
Dwight Howard : 19 pts , 17 reb , 6 blk
Vince Carter : 18 pts , 4 reb , 5/7 3-pt
Rodney Stuckey : 26 pts , 3 ast , 2 stl
Detroit Pistons @ Miami Heat
Final Result : 79 : 105

LeBron James had his beat night in the Heat uniform , as he went berserk in the 3rd quarter scoring 27 points. The king showed his full repertoire as Detroit was crushed once again for their 3rd straight loss. New Head Coach Deon Ewing is really finding it difficult to adapt to the NBA. Once again , the bigs failed to deliver , and Derozan scored under ten points [4].
Top Performances
Lebron James : 42 pts , 10 reb , 6 ast , 2 stl
Ben Gordon : 31 pts , 2 reb , 2 stl
Dwyane Wade : 16 pts , 4 reb , 2 ast , 3 stl
Chris Bosh : 15 pts , 7 reb

Three game wrap up
---------------------------
Detroit (AP) – The Detroit Pistons are seeming to finally come together. Coach Deon Ewing has got a hold how he wants his team to look. „Well , I am not fully satisfied with the roster , and if certain players won't be able to adapt to my style of play, than a few trades could be made“- Ewing said. Detroit went 3-0 in this wrap up , blowing out Orlando , so the confidence has risen quickly. The back court players have really stepped up , as maybe an all-star appearance could be the praise for them. The Pistons are now 11-11

Detroit Pistons vs. Orlando Magic
Final Result : 115 – 87
If the first and last quarter are combined , the Pistons scored 72 points. This again proves their inconsistency , but proves their talent. Gordon and Stuckey combined for 72 points as well. The guard combo were red hot today , as Magic didn't find an answer. This was Detroit's revenge for the loss they suffered a couple games back. The Pistons back court are drawing a lot of attention , and a lot of trade rumors have been circling around the league , one of those was Stuckey joining Kobe in the Lakers.
Top Performances
Rodney Stuckey : 38 pts , 7 ast , 7 reb , 6 stl
Ben Gordon : 34 pts , 3 reb , 5/8 3-pt
Charlie Villanueva : 15 pts , 8 reb
Vince Carter : 19 pts , 5 reb , 3 ast , 1 blk , 1 stl

Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Final Result : 98 - 96
Lebronless Cleveland has really been strugling this season , and this game was no exception. Although it was a close game , Cleveland was as bad as ever. Wide open missed shots , bad defense are just some of the errors they did the whole game. Detroit wasn't any better, and this game had a total of 39 turnovers. Antawn Jamison was the only bright spot for Cleveland on this day as Detroit's back court cooled of a little.
Top Performances
Antawn Jamison : 33 pts , 5 reb , 2 stl
Rodney Stuckey : 25 pts , 5 reb , 3 ast
Mo Williams : 26 pts , 11 TO's
Ben Gordon : 14 pts , 3 reb
Demar Derozan : 9 pts , 8 reb , 5 ast , 2 stl , 2 blk

Detroit Pistons @ Houston Rockets
Final Result : 108 – 107
Another close game for Detroit. This one had to go to overtime to be decided. In overtime , Rodney Stuckey banked a truly lucky shot with 3 seconds to go in the game. Houston then made a bad pass from in bounds which led to a win for Detroit. Motown's back court now combined for 51 points , as both players are having career best seasons. Lets hope their great performances continue !
Top Performances
Rodney Stuckey : 30 pts , 4 ast , 2 reb , 2 stl , 12/15 FT
Ben Gordon : 21 pts , 2 reb

Looks good so far mandich.

That was a nice win against my Rockets; leave it to them to make a bad pass in clutch situations.

11-11 is a good record compared to the real life Pistons, and judging from all the blocks you get in games, these Pistons actually play defense.
Mon Dec 06, 2010 10:03 am
Yep, Gordon and Stuckey are tearing it up man. Playoffs on sight as a low seed?
Tue Dec 07, 2010 6:54 pm
