typical TT lol :D. he's supposed to already be awakened by having to play his old team where he has lots of scars...but noo, he needs someone to trip him.

interesting gambit you pulled there by putting 'tawn at C...that's just something a conservative coach like me would never do. very interesting.

Sweetney has a great finish

Game 5

Key Player
Image
Allan Houston

Allan Houston will have to light up the floor with 3's to help energize the Knicks.

The final score - 125 to 123

The Sacramento Kings are a normal championship contending team that the Knicks are eager to test themselves against. Tim Thomas was not on fire anymore from last game, and had an average game. Dikembe Mutombo also showed no ill effects of last game's injury, and played a fairly consistent game. Penny Hardaway didn't put up the best numbers, but he still contributed. Mike Bibby was the killer on the Kings. He was shooting the lights out knocking down everything, especially when it counted. The Kings knew Houston would be a major x-factor, and Doug Christie applied pressure defense to him, only to end up with fouls. Christie only played 21 minutes this game, due to foul trouble, which was a big relief for the Knicks. Bobby Jackson was a big time bench player scoring 22 points in 25 minutes, compared to Antawn Jamison's 20 points in 24 minutes. Antawn Jamison played backup SF, and really helped keep the Knicks in the game when the bench players were in and Jackson was dominating. Throughout most of the game the Knicks were behind by 15. At halftime they planned to start a run to win the game. The Kings anticipated this and tried to stop them, but they could not. By the end of the 3rd, the Knicks trailed by 1. Now it was just a back and forth game of consistency. Whoever failed first would end up on the losing end. Eventually the Kings lost it and it seemed as if they began to fall apart, but they played tight defense, and the Knicks were not able to score either. No team scored for 8 minutes, all they did was either run back and forth or set up offense back and forth. During the final minute of the game, the score was tied at 120. Stephon Marbury set up the offense, Allan Houston got open, and Marbury dished it to him from behind the arch for the nice assist. The Knicks were then up 3, 123-120. Mike Bibby set up the offense, and launched a long 3 pointer to tie the game at 123. Now the shot clock was off, the Knicks with possession. All the Knicks need to do is take care of the ball and score. Allan Houston was immediately double teamed, who then passed the ball to Tim Thomas. Tim Thomas could not get open, and did not want to attempt another highly contested, game winning shot. Nobody could get open, so the ball was dished to Mike Sweetney, who would hopefully power his way inside. Chris Webber was too strong, and Sweetney was forced to shoot farther than he would have liked to, but alas! a foul is called! Sweetney misses the shot, but he is now sent to the line, with 0.8 left on the clock. The pressure was all on Sweetney, to knock them down. He knocks down both free throws, ensuring a victory against the timeout-less Kings. Sweetney dug the Knicks out of the hole this time, and gave the Knicks another great win.

The Knicks start cold, but come out hot

Game 6

Key Player
Image
Allan Houston

Allan Houston started out cold, but he had a great late game performance.

The final score - 133 to 126

The Bucks were not happy with their loss @ New York and were looking for some payback, but came up short. BOTH teams shot very poorly from the field in the 1st half, and it looked to be a very low scoring game. The Knicks were ahead as predicted, by at least 5 throughout the 1st half. However, a scare came to the Knicks when Mike Sweetney hurt his arm during a collision early in the 2nd. He was checked out and deemed able to return, and had a solid game. Tim Thomas played a great game, and scored quite a bit of points. Allan Houston was almost ice cold, with 5 points in the 1st half. Antawn Jamison and Penny Hardaway both had another great game, while the Bucks were having trouble with their bench players. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the Knicks were up by 15, and were about to consider this game over, when the Bucks started a 13-2 run and tied the game in only a few minutes into the 4th. Stephon Marbury was having no success from the field, but was able to dish out assists and help grab rebounds, and earned a triple double for his effort. By the final 50 seconds of the 4th quarter, the score was tied at 112. It was crunch time, and somebody had to step up and make a big shot. The ball was in the possession of the Bucks, and Desmond Mason scored a highly contested 2 pointer to give the Bucks the lead, 114-112. Now there were 30 seconds left on the clock. The Knicks ran time down, set up the offense, and Tim Thomas was open. He shot the 3 pointer to tie the game! IT MISSES! MICHAEL REDD GETS THE REBOUND! FOUL! Redd goes to the line with 3.8 seconds left on the clock. HE MISSES THE FIRST! He shoots the 2nd. He drains it! The Bucks had a 3 point lead, 115-112. The Knicks call their final timeout. They plan to set a pick for Houston who will then launch the 3 to force overtime. The play starts. The ball is inbounded to Houston. Mike Sweetney sets the pick, however Joe Smith switches and defends Houston. 2...1... Houston is forced to shoot an off balance 3 pointer to avoid the block! SWISH! Allan Houston sinks a 3 to force overtime, but does it count? IT DOES! The Knicks go on to overtime, where Stephon Marbury picks up his triple double, and the Knicks pull ahead to victory. Mike Sweetney was able to shake off the injury and is now doing fine.

Another solid performance by Allan Houston

The final score - 127 to 102

The Knicks have been playing great basketball as of late. The star players are putting up big points, Dikembe Mutombo is playing great defense, and the strong bench lead by Penny Hardaway and Antawn Jamison throws the other teams off balance as their star players rest. Tim Thomas has been doing great as of late, putting up 20 point games and attacking the hoop fearlessly. Lebron James was killing New York on the break, and kept the team ahead throughout the 1st half by about 10 points. After some reviewing at halftime, Antawn Jamison was thrown in at SG whenever Lebron was in, in order to keep up with him on fast breaks and put the pressure on him. The strategy proved effective and New York was able to pull away for the lead and achieve an easy victory. Allan Houston was knocking down 3's like there was no tomorrow, while Lebron James couldn't buy a basket from downtown. The New York winning streak continues.

Marbury posts 43, and gets a late game conflict

Game 8
Image

Key Player
Image
Kerry Kittles

Kerry Kittles was able to score, but he could not get the job done.

The final score - 137 to 129

The Knicks played a game of catchup against the Nets in the 1st half. Jason Kidd was knocking down shots all over the court, and Marbury answered at the other end. These 2 were consistently knocking down shots, and made this a very high scoring game. Both teams had a decent bench, yet both benches did not perform up to their greatest potential. Marbury and Kidd played hard, but Marbury played more minutes, and was able to ball up backup PG Zoran Planinic, who also had a solid game. Tim Thomas didn't post a 20 point game, while Rodney Rogers only posted 2 points. The Nets were ahead by 10 by the end of the 1st half, mainly due to Jason Kidd and his excellent passing on the break. The Knicks came out of the locker room to get back into the game in the 2nd half. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the game was tied. Early in the 4th quarter, however, Hardaway went down, and after being examined, he hurt his back, but he also broke his nose. Penny Hardaway could not return to the game. He is able to play with his broken nose, and he doesn't feel very many handicaps from his injury. Many players on both teams were in foul trouble. Jason Kidd ended the game with 5 fouls. Zoran Planinic, Kenyon Martin, and Kerry Kittles ended the game with 4. Mike Sweetney's 13 point game ended with 3 fouls. Stephon Marbury, however, fouled out. In the late stages of the game, Stephon Marbury was driving to the hoop, guarded by Planinic, when Planinic tripped him. Marbury fell on Planinic, and an offensive foul was called, and Marbury fouled out. Marbury was enraged, and he walked over to Zoran and appeared to being to throw a punch. Zoran saw this, and they both almost got into a fight. A double technical was called, and Marbury's situation is currently being reviewed, since he obviously started it, and appeared to throw a punch. Marbury could possibly be suspended for this. Later on, Kenyon Martin was givin a tech for hanging on the rim, which ultimately let the Knicks pull away to victory. The Knicks were lucky to pull away from this one.

Marbury's Situation

After being carefully reviewed, New York Knicks star point guard Stephon Marbury is being suspended for 3 games for throwing punches at New Jersey Net's backup point guard Zoran Planinic during Friday's game at New Jersey. This could end the New York Knicks' 5 game winning streak, as they face the Indiana Pacers next and the Los Angeles Lakers during Marbury's last day of suspension.

In other news, the Los Angeles Clippers are still leading the Western Conference with a record of 5-0. The New Orleans Hornets lead the Eastern Conference with a 10-0 record, right in front of the New York Knicks that have a 6-2 record.

New York able to win in Marbury's absence

Game 9
Image

Key Player
Image
Allan Houston

A great game by Allan Houston

The final score - 105 to 99

New York was fortunate to have won against the Indiana Pacers without Stephon Marbury, who is suspended for 3 games. Ron Artest was one of the main reasons why the game ended close. His defensive effort was a major inspiration to the Pacers, who were drained from a halftime 10 point deficit. SF Tim Thomas put up a 21 point game, which is good, but he was unable to hit any of his 7 3-point attempts, due to the major defensive effort by Artest. Mike Sweetney had a tough time against the more experienced Jermaine O'neal, but ended up with 13 points. However, Sweetney's strength allowed him to effectively box out O'neal to amass 15 boards. Tim Thomas and Antawn Jamison were having a tough time dealing with Artest, but they weren't going to let him get the best of them. Tim Thomas was able to put up points, while Jamison decided to go strong to the hoop against Artest. Penny Hardaway had a decent game, showing no ill effects of his broken nose. Meanwhile Allan Houston was able to sink 20 points and dish out an impressive 8 assists. Backup PG Derrick Dial started in Stephon Marbury's absence, but didn't prove anything special, scoring 2 points in 31 minutes. The rookie 3rd SG Jon Stefansson played his first game in the NBA as a backup PG, with 5 points in 18 minutes, including 1 3-pointer. He also had 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. The backup C to follow Dikembe Mutombo, known as Nazr Mohammed, has not been performing the way the coaching staff is expecting. He scored 2 points in 28 minutes, but managed to get 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. Although he might not put up the most points, hopefully Mohammed will be a great defensive player. Ron Artest's strong play inspired to Pacers to play furious catch up in the 2nd half, but came up short in the end. Despite Stephon Marbury's absence, the Knicks were able to win.

Hey Alcoholic, (B)

Sorry I haven't posted here for a while, but like I said with Laddas, I do find time to read it, and I do follow it.

Great dynasty with the Knicks, the screenshots are a KILLER, and the recaps are cool. Great team with Jamison and Marbury. Not to forget Sweets and Penny. The dynasty is realistic as hell, and also good to see you winning and losing. Anyone can win, but it takes a real team to lose! :D

Anyways, keep it up, I'll be posting more here, and also, I'll head over to 'Dynasty Central' and give you a TOP rating... maybe 5 a star bullet?? (Y)

Cheers,
Macca

P.S:: Feel free to come over to my dynasty and post your thoughts!

Game 10
Image

Key Player
Image
Allan Houston

Houston didn't put up as many points as expected, mainly because of the many players on the team that carry the scoring load.

The final score - 104 to 83

Only one player broke 20, and that was Tim Thomas. The Knicks have many talented players that are all skilled at putting the ball through the hoop, and as a result there isn't usually anybody who puts up more points than most of the star players. The depth of this team allows them to all put up a fair share of points, but if one of them is out of it, the rest can pick up the slack and put up bigger numbers. The star on the Celtics is Paul Pierce, but he was shut down, and so was Ricky Davis. There's nothing much to say about this game, except that New York executed well. They have so many weapons on offense, that it's hard to defend them. The Celtics could not keep up with them and were blown out of this one.

Game 11
Image

Key Player
Image
Shaquille O'Neal

The Dieasel was unstoppable down low.

The final score - 87 to 94

The Knicks are primarily an inside scoring team, but have some players with outside game. However, the Lakers' starting low post men proved superior, and the Knicks were unable to connect from downtown. Mike Sweetney and Dikembe Mutombo were unable to stop Malone and O'neal, and the team missed each of their 11 3-point attempts. Being unable to score down low and from outside, the Knicks who thought they were unstoppable have just recieved a reality check. The Knicks were able to keep the game tied 1st half, but the Lakers changed their strategy and were able to dominate this game. The Knicks now know they have some work to do, shooting only 37% from the field, due to the strength of Malone and O'Neal.

Have you been playing Penny at the point in Starbury's absence?

Wed May 19, 2004 9:43 am

No I've been giving Derrick Dial more time playing him at the point and an SG Jon Stefansson at bench PG. Thats why you see Derrick Dial in place of Marbury's name, but he hasn't done anything special so when Marbury's back its same old same old.

And I didn't 'try' to lose it, Shaq and Malone were too experienced, and I was missing wide open 3's!!!!!

Rasheed Wallace

Sheed was unstoppable but his team let him down

The final score - 118 to 112

Luckily for the Knicks, the 3-point drought from last game was only temporary. The Knicks shot 41% from 3-point range with 5 of 12 shooting, while Detroit shot a 15%, 2 of 13 from the field. Rasheed Wallace was very tough down low, but the scouting reports also mentioned his mid range game. Throughtout the 1st half, the game was very close, due to Sheed. After running through their set plays, Sheed would often be open for the mid range shot, far enough from the basket where Mike Sweetney couldn't bother him. Mike Sweetney likes to stay down low and dominate with his strength, and was very lazy in running out to contest the shot. Rasheed is also much faster than Sweetney, making him difficult to defend. The Knicks took a gamble by putting Antawn Jamison at the PF position, but Rasheed then resorted to posting up Jamison and scoring down low. At halftime, a new plan was devised to simply pressure Rasheed at all times, and double team him if he's going to work. The strategy didn't work however, and Rasheed Wallace went on throughout the game shooting 65% with 15 of 23 shooting. In the 4th quarter, with 51.3 seconds left on the clock, the score was 112-110, Detroit. Allan Houston then shot a BIG 3 pointer, giving them a 1 point lead, 112-113. As Chauncey Billups brought the ball upcourt, he was trapped, and gave up the ball to Allan Houston, who dished it to the triple double Starbury to put them up by 3, 112-115. Now there were only 20 seconds left, Detroit ball. Detroit went for an early 3 pointer, it missed, then it became the fouling game. This game was almost out of reach, but due to Allan Houston's fine late game play, the Knicks were able to take it. Stephon Marbury and Allan Houston didn't put up alot of points, but Stephon Marbury had a triple double, while Allan Houston had a great late game performance to seal the win.

Houston was guarded by Iverson- big mistake

The final score - 126 to 102

The Knicks have a great team this year, and have been destroying the competition. After looking at the score, you can tell this was a blowout. Allan Houston was getting great looks as he easily shot over a foul-troubled Iverson. Other players on the team were able to pitch in their normal scoring load. Stephon Marbury was running into foul trouble, and he one of the focal points of the defense, but he was able to come through with a great game. The chemistry between these players has been great so far, and they believe they can take this team all the way...
