You're probably the fastest person here to finish an 82 game season. (Y) And LOL at Sam Cassell missing 13 days for a sore toe. (N)

Game 1

[Boxscore] - [Player of the Game]

ImageImage

The Clippers headed into the playoffs with a 16 game winning streak. They face a division rival the Sacramento Kings, who finished as the 8th seed in the Western Conference. Since the San Antoino Spurs lost their final game of the season, both the Spurs and the Clippers ended with records of 68-14. The Clippers won their season series, thus recieved the tie-breaker over the Spurs. The Spurs will face the Memphis Grizzlies while the Clippers recieved the Kings. This is a good break for the Clippers. Over the season despite having winning records on both the Kings and the Grizzlies, the Clippers have struggled to win against Memphis whereas they've had little problem with the Kings, including 2 wins on the Kings during their 16 game streak.

The game was tight and down to the wire. Defensive star Ron Artest for the Kings and Elton Brand for the Clippers fought a very stong battle against each other. Brand ended the game with 25 points and 14 rebounds whereas Artest led all scores with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Miller, despite not being named the POTG, still was a key contributor to the Clippers' win. He hit 5-9 from downtown, as well as several key free-throws on intentional fouls to keep the Clippers lead intact.

Sorry everyone, I totally forgot that the playoffs don't include boxscores...

Game 2

[Boxscore] - [Team Score]

ImageImage

The close game during Game 1 didn't forcast the blowout that happened in Game 2. The Clippers exploded out of the locker rooms and never trailed throughout the entire game. This great play was mainly due to the emergence of Mike Miller. Since the trade from Memphis to Los Angeles he's been inconsistant, scoring from 0 to 30 some points. Near the end of the season he has become more constant, and espically so far in the playoffs he's been playing well. In Game 1 he scored 18 points, and now he has exploded for 32, including hitting 8-12 three pointers. This is a great sign for the Clippers, finally finding someone who can shoot the long range shot; he'll be depended on in the later rounds when the Clippers may face teams with strong middles like the Suns and the Spurs.

Miller however was not the lone star in this beatdown on the Kings. Bench guard Shaun Livingston came off the bench to score a superb 16 points, including a windmill on Brad Miller. The starting point guard Sam Cassell also managed 16 points as well as dishing out 11 assists. Team co-captain Elton Brand put in 22 points while grabbing a game high 13 rebounds. The other Clippers starter Boris Diaw also scored 21 points, but he got held down on the boards.

Diaw's counterpart Brad Miller scored 15 and coralled 11 rebounds. Their Game 1 star Ron Artest was limited to only 16 points and 7 rebounds. Mike Bibby and Bonzi Wells led the way with 25 and 21 points. The suprising part in this game was that Bibby also had 2 blocks, leading the whole game.

The series now heads to Sacramento, where the Kings will hope to salvage some wins on their home court.

Game 3

Clippers|Kings|Team Stats

ImageImage

111-99 was the score of the 3rd game, and allowed the Clippers to go up 3-0 on the Kings in Arco. Elton Brand was all over this game as he led all scores with 39 points, grabbing 12 rebounds in the process. He was espically big in the fourth quarter when the game was tied. With the game tied at 99 and only 20 seconds left to go, Brand was intentionally fouled, however he made both shots to go up 101-99. Despite leading the Clippers didn't play it safe and pressed. The press payed off as Sam Cassell stole the inbounds pass and threw it to Mike Miller, who in turn drained a three pointer just as Ron Artest tried to foul him. Miller completed the four-point play to put the Clippers up by 6, 105 to 99. The Clippers forced a missed three and Miller was intentionally fouled again. He made both of the shots. With the game almost over Cassell stole the inbounds pass again and dished out to Maggette for a quick three. This game was definatly over after that score. With a 12 point lead there was no chance for the Kings, and the Kings just dribbled the clock out, hoping for a miracle in the last fourth game.

Mike Bibby was the second leading scorer in the game with 33 points, also grabbing 5 boards and dishing out 6 assists. Shareff Abdur-Rahim had a decent game of 13 points and 13 assists, but not good enough to push the Kings to a win.
