Game 1 - Nuggets @ Magic

Solid team effort leads Magic past Pistons (1:0)

The Orlando Magic won the first game of the series against the Detroit Pistons. After trailing in the first quarter Orlando took charge in the second to outscore the Pistons 30-17.

Dwight Howard was named player of the Game even he stayed below his expectations. 16 points and 11 rebounds combined with 4 blocks still enough to beat the Detroit Pistons. Quentin Richardson and Courtney Lee delivered some valuable points from the bench when the Magic starters need to take a rest.

For the Pistons Tony Parker could show up with 26 points, but shooting only 10-27 from the field. Detroit struggeled from 3 point line, the Pistons only shot 6-24 from the arc. Despite his 14 rebounds Danilo Gallinari was one of the biggest upsets, his offense was pathetic 2-14 from the field 0-9 from outside.

If the Pistons want to have a chance in this series their perimeter players need to hit the shots. Otherwise this is going to be a simple run for the Magic, Orlando is dominating the paint, veteran Ben Wallace and Jason Maxiell is no match for Dwight Howard.

Gallo single-handedly ruined any chances the Pistons had of winning this game. Surprised they came that close with his performance. Nice production by Q and Lee off the bench (Y)

Gallinari always went strong when i played the Nuggets/ Pistons in reg. Season. We will see, still a long way to go and if Detroit starts to hit from outside i am in trouble. :D

Going to post Game 2 results of the other matches soon. Results of Game 2- Pistons @ Magic expected tomorrow.

Howard powers Magic past Pistons - 2:0

The Orlando Magic won the second home game of the first round Playoff series against the Detroit Pistons. Game 2 was much more onesided than Game 1 and the Magic dominated from the beginning.

Dwight Howard showed his huge potential dominating the Game against Monroe and Wallace scoring 24 points and 17 boards. While Glen Davis had an offnight scoring zero points, Raymond Felton and Jason Richardson helped their team with 18 resp. 17 points.
Another big impact came from Courtney Lee, the returnee scored 23 points from the bench shooting 9-18 and 3-7 from outside.

The Pitons once again struggeled to hit their open shots. Only 40% from the field, 6 - 20 from outside was not enough to compete with Orlando. Danilo Gallinari could slightly improve his Game, he scored 12 points but needed 17 shots and he went 0-7 from beyond the arc.
Above all, Detroit lost the battle on the boards, Maxiell was able to grab 10 rebounds, Wallace and Monroe disappointed with only 3 resp. 4 rebounds.

The next Game will be at Detroit where the Pistons need to win Game 3, otherwise this series could be decided early... .

Orlando wins at Detroit - 3:0

The Detroit Pistons were not able to resist against the Orlando Magic at the Palace. The Magic dominated the game from the beginning and did not let a doubt left you is going to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
Leading the series 3:0, Orlando has 4 more chances to close the deal. The only question remains; are the Pistons able to grab at least one win in this series?

Gallinari could slightly improve to the last to games. He had 19 points shooting 6-16 from the field. Tony Parker with another solid performance but not enough to carry his new team. The Pistons need a second player to step up soon, otherwise this is going to be a clean sweep.

The Magic dominated the paint with Howard and Davis, both had 13 rebounds, Howard also scored a game high of 28 points. Maybe the most impressive fact about this: Howard made 13 out of 14 shots from the field, he was not to be denied by Wallace and Monroe.

Just when Gallo picks it up, Anthony Parker's the one who brings the team down. They can't find a rhythm.

Magic sweep Pistons in first Round

The Orlando Magic advanced to the second Round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs by sweeping the Detroit Pistons in a dominating manner.

Dwight Howard led his team with 32 points and 15 boards to the 118-105 win and the 4:0 series victory. Howard showed a tremendous performance throughout the whole series.

Even Tony Parker was able to step up in Game 4 it was by far not enough to keep up with the Magic. Parker showed a series high of 33 points , shooting 14 out of 24. Another horrible performance by Danilo Gallinari, he made only 7 out of 25 shots, his ineffectiveness maybe one of the reasons why the Pistons lost so obvious.

Next opponent are going to be the Indiana Pacers who beat the Celtics in a 6 Game series. The Pacers are supposed to give Orlando more competition in the paint with Roy Hibbert and David West.

Maxiell did not have many good moments in this series

Howard still dominates the paint

Howard's 25/19 takes Magic past Pacers (1:0)

The Orlando Magic faced the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Pacers had an average season winning 40 out of 82 Games to make the sixth seed in the East.
Surprisingly Indiana managed to pass the third seeded Celtics in a 6 Game series to advance in the second round of the 2012 playoffs.

Orlando dictated the pace from the beginning, Dwight Howard had 19 points in the first half and was unstoppable in the paint. On the other side it was Roy Hibbert and Danny Granger who helped the Pacers to stay within range. Hibbert scored 22 points and made 10 out of 12 from the field.

After all the Pacers were not able to catch up the margin they lost in the first quarter. Orlando took the home win to start the series 1:0.

Looks like this series won't be much of a challenge. Granger and West (their 2 biggest threats) aren't doing too hot.
